For anyone wondering, none of these Ravpower Power Bank does USB-C PD (Power Delivery).

The RAVPower Power Bank that does do USB-C PD is the XTREME 26800mAh PD Portable Charger (Model: RP-PB058), which isn't available from this seller.

    • +1

Was about to post this. Would love the PD version for the Nintendo Switch.

      • +2

The Switch uses a modified PD spec.

You don't really need it when on the go. A power bank with USB A port supplies enough juice that it will charge slightly while playing. Which means you should not run out of juice as long as the power bank is not empty. It will charge quicker than that when not using it obviously.

PD would just allow you to charge it faster while not playing. If you're playing it while charging, as long as it's not discharging, the speed of charging shouldn't matter. You will not run out of battery.

    • Thank you for pointing that out. I somehow convinced myself it had usb-pd and was about to purchase one. Will keep an eye out for the Xtreme version.

    • Will most manufacturers support USB-C PD in a year or two? Is it worth holding off to get a powerbank that supports this?

Also is PD only useful when charging larger devices, such as laptops, or can it also be utilised on phones as well?

      • It appears that manufacturers are moving towards the USB-C Port for charging. Just note that you'll be paying almost double the price for USB-C PD over standard Power Bank (due to limited options in Australia).

As for USB-C PD on phones, there are now some phones that supports it.

        • Yeh I'm noticing that, also from some quick reading it mainly seems to be useful on laptops due to the higher wattage needed to charge quickly.

As I'd mainly use this for phone charging it doesn't seem like a bad option.

      • -4

I'm not aware of any phones using USB-C PD for faster charging. They all use standard USB-C. Phone charging with standard USB-C is around 15W whereas USB-C PD goes up to 100W.

You're likely to see both forever - the 100W high-power is more expensive to build and has limited use cases - the 15W standard version is more than enough for phones.

        • +4

iPhone 8's and X can use power delivery

        • +4

Pixel and iPhone 8/X does PD and S8/S9 does PD as well as QC
15W is not enough, they will charge with up to 30W of power

        • +1

          @blonky:

Independent tests show the iPhone 8/X charges barely any different on PD 30W than on older 12W charger. For a standard 18W charger there's literally no difference.

          https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2017/11/we-tested-iphone-fast-cha…

There's a limit to how fast you can charge the cells in a phone. Doesn't matter that Apple and Samsung claim support for "PD fast-charging". They have a vested interest in you buying a new expensive PD charger. But the current phones don't actually benefit from it.

        • @blueturkey45:
The essential PH-1 does PD fast charge too.

        • -1

          @nhand42:
There’s no mention of 18W chargers in that article; I’d say there is quite a noticeable difference between 12W and 30W from their graphs too especially in the first 30 minutes of charging so not sure why you’d diagree with your own link
“Additionally, the 29-watt adaptor charged significantly faster than the 12-watt adaptor in almost every case.”

        • -1

          @blonky: i

The very next sentence says “The one exception to that was with the iPhone 8, which still achieved optimal recharging speeds when using the less expensive $29 12-watt charger“. Holy selective quoting, Batman.

So after 60 minutes the iPhone 8 is faster on a 12W charger than a 30W charger.
The iPhone X in the same time charged to 70% on 12W vs 80% on 30W, thus my comment “barely any different”. Hardly significant.

For an 18W charger there is NO difference. Do your own research. It was the first hit in google last time I looked.

        • -1

          @nhand42:
Which the report said is an exception, not the norm.
I'm only responding to the report you specifically linked; you can't cherry pick a single statement in the report and claim it applies globally - if you're talking about a different report then why did you post this one?

    • would this be the version i need to be able to charge an xps 15 laptop? I know dell have their own portable battery for the laptop, but its hella expensive.

      • No, I believe the Dell XPS 15 requires a minimum of 60W USB-C PD.

The RavPower USB-C PD that I linked only does up to 30W USB-C PD.

As far as I'm aware, the only Portable Power Bank that will work on the XPS 15 is the Official Dell PW7015L

        • Yep and even with 60W it will drain it’s own battery faster than it can charge while under load

I did try out of curiosity on my xps15 with a 30w charger and nothing happened

        • @blonky: The Dell XPS 15 is designed for a 130W power source, hence why it drains faster then it can charge.

I believe USB-C PD has an official maximum power rating is 100W. Dell has a proprietary setup that allows them to deliver 130W over USB-C, therefore allowing XPS 15 to be charged with the Power Bank.

        • @RichardL:
That would be news to me, mine charges 130W over the DC plug and didn’t come with a usb-c charger

This reddit thread seems to indicate it maxes out at 60W over usb c too https://www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/5t4of9/heres_what_hap…

    • Thanks! This was the first question that came to mind…

    • Thanks, that was what I was trying to find out.

  • +1

    Any of them have usb-pd?

    • +2

Unfortunately, no. Hopefully, they will bring USB-PD models to Australia soon.

  • +1

Just bought the power deliver version last night for $105 from ebay but had the $15 off $100 code plus bought ebay vouchers using Woolworths egift cards from Woolworths where they also have 2000 bonus points ($10) for a $100 voucher right now. For those who say you can't use egift cards anymore I bought $2000 from Woolworths Sydney Town hall today with them at the self service checkout.

Total cost after the discounts and cash rewards comes in around $75.

    • +1

did cashier attendant not intervene? I tried at other store and was ordered to pay the giftcard at customer service counter

  • +1

$45 free shipping for non prime and ypur jump starter priced at $44.99.

    • +1

Bugger, I don't know if the price can be raised by $0.01 once the sale has been started.

You may be able to find something worth $0.01 on Amazon if you have a look.

    • +2

The minimum order for free shipping is $49, not $45.

And the minimum amount is referring to the price before voucher code. Hence, the jump starter is $44.99 with free shipping.

  • How large of a diesel engine can it start if it only goes 3L with petrol? Whats its rsting CCA or such?

    • The information I have that it can start a small low emission diesel motor. I don't know how large though.

    • I cannot find a CCA rating on the documentation that came with the battery.

If you send an email through to [email protected] they should be able to help you further.

    • +1

This recently posted one (relatively larger/more expensive) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/399246 is 18000mAh and can apparently start 7.0l Gas, 5.5l Diesel

      • Thanks for that, now I have to find a 7L petrol car.

        • +1

Definitely go for a Mustang with a 429.

  • What's better this or the Xiaomi?

    • Which Xiaomi are you comparing to?

        • +3

Just note that on Xiaomi Mi Power Bank Pro, the USB-C port is only for input.

It also depends on what devices you're using the Power Bank for.

Since you linked a USB-C Power Bank, I'm assuming you're after a Power Bank that does USB-C Output. If that's the case, note that some USB-C Devices requires USB-C Power Delivery (PD) to charge (which limits your options).

        • @RichardL:
It wouldn't let me post a eBay link. But the 10,000mAh Mi Power Bank is under $25 shipped from Oz.

        • +2

@Wizard: If you're refering to the Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 2s, they usually appear on OzBargain for <$20.

Is a great Power Bank if you don't need USB-C / USB-C PD.

There's also the Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 2, if you prefer a shorter Power Bank with 1 USB Output.

  • +2

Wow, great work xev. The detail in your OP is astounding.
    Well done.

    • +2

      Thank you very much :)

Very nicely packaged! I love the included cables especially the Type C for my IPhone X!

Not sure that's a fake review to make it good or that guy is retarded?

  • Is the jump starter reliable to get out of a rare bind? (08 Honda Accord)
Or better to wait on a promo for the Suaoki u10? Cheers.

    • Depends on the size of the motor, if it is a 2.4lt it will meet your needs. If its the 3.5lt you may need a more powerful one.

You can leave it in your car but it is recommended to top up the charge every few months.

  • where is it made for this price?

    • +1

It is made in Shenzhen, China,

  • Is this the best power bank on the market?
    If not what is?

No RAVPower 26800mAh left according to Amazon?
    Bummer!

    • Thank you for letting us know. I have edited the listing and will ask the Rep if more can be made available.

      • +1

Yes please if we can get some more, I was trying to buy one of the 26800 mAh ones.
        Thanks!

      • Howdy Rep, any more 26800's to sell?

        • Hi mate, more are on their way but we have to wait for them to arrive in the country.

There will be another sale with them in the future.

  • tossing between this 10,000 car jumper or this 18,000 https://www.amazon.com.au/GOOLOO-18000mAh-Portable-Starter-B…

    • +1

It depends on the size of your engine. If it is under 3lt, the 10000mAh will do the job and you will get 3 jumps per full charge. If it is over 3lt you will need something with more power.

I have asked the SunValley Rep to bring their more powerful Car Jump Starters to Australia.

      • +1

Great, thank you for the reply.

    • +1

I would get the Suaoki off ebay. Better than both.

  • tried to buy a couple of the 22000 version. Couldn't get the discount to apply. Deleted and just added one, and the code won't apply to that either.
    Perhaps I suck at Amazon?

    • The code is still valid. Try deleting everything from your cart, add one and enter the code again

  • I would get Xiaomi Power banks, build quality is superior and with affordable price tag.

  • Hi rep, very keen to hear from you if there is more availability for the 26800mAh power banks.

    • Hi mate, more are on their way but we have to wait for them to arrive in the country.

There will be another sale with them in the future.

  • +3

Bought the 16750mAh one on the 5th, received on the 6th.

    • Great News. Fulfillment by Amazon certainly makes a difference.

  • Ordered the car jump starter on the 4th, received today on the 10th. Charging it up and will go test on a dead car in the garage.

  • Hi op, are you able to negotiate anymore 26800? Even better the 26800 pd if you can source any.
