  • will it ever work? can you carry it in your car without worry about lithium battery degrade over time?

    • +6

Can confirm that after it sat in glove box for 2 months (after an initial charge), it jump started a diesel Prado without any issue. I was amazed. Got mine for $58 from Amazon during a previous promotion.

      • Nice & Thanks for sharing. Just on other note, I tried to negotiate with them for near to that price but they told me at this price they will lose money and Amazon usually pay some % when its under lightning deal to make it more cheaper. imo, this is still good price

      • Seriously? I got mine one from super cheap and they are cheap for a reason, can’t even jump up a v8 at all. Used on a Yaris and worked fine but

        • +1

everything depends on the cranking amps. 800A is high. I have one that runs to 550A. will jump start my 4cyl petrol cars, but not my 5cyl diesel. This would solve that problem.

        • +1

Xinjiang, what model of jump starter is yours? What is its peak cranking amp and cold cranking amp?

        • @edfoo: can’t even find my one now, somewhere in the garage. Since bought a proper 1900 amp SCA jump starter now to use, pretty happy with this one.

    • -3

It does but good lithium batterys are decent at holding charge over many years.

    • +3

You'd be wise to charge it every 3 months. If you want the lithium battery to last longer, only charge it up to 80% capacity.

If you want a better product, try a (much) more expensive capacitor based one. Aussie John Cadogan reviews one here:
      https://youtu.be/NnOZHgRC_90

These (and most lithium jump starters) are rated to 60c MAX. The average aussie summer brings a car to way past that temp daily.

      Heat kills lithium batteries. https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_l…

      Look about a page down

"Lithium-ion suffers from stress when exposed to heat, so does keeping a cell at a high charge voltage. A battery dwelling above 30°C (86°F) is considered elevated temperature and for most Li-ion a voltage above 4.10V/cell is deemed as high voltage. Exposing the battery to high temperature and dwelling in a full state-of-charge for an extended time can be more stressful than cycling. Table 3 demonstrates capacity loss as a function of temperature and SoC."

No good for my dodge viper.

    • Get two of them and daisy chain them together.

      Fixed.

      • +11

parallel would work a lot better than daisy chain :P

        • I was hoping someone would pick up on it, well done :D

        • +2

Yeah but the fireworks are better when you daisy chain.

Reasonable product… it gets me going in the morning, but the clamps hurt my nipples.

    • +12

Next time, try them on your scrotum instead.

      • +11

This is the kind of advice you never see on consumer reviews.

    • Thanks for the review… purchased

Just in time when I was looking for one. Thanks OP!

Which one better if compare with SUAOKI brand? It's about same price.

    • The similarly priced Suaoki G7 has smaller amps (PCA 600amps and CCA 300amps). I bought the more expensive (about $80 after eBay 15% discount recently) Suaoki U10 which has the same PCA 800amps and CCA 400amps.

      • would the Suaoki u10 be a better by (with ebay code)? It looks a bit nicer is 20000mAh

    • +1

      Suaoki is better.

      • +3

        FYI own both.

  • I'm glad to see it also works with yachts.

    • As long as your yacht resembles a jet-ski like in the picture, then no problem!

  • Damn, spent $130 on a Noco GB40 just last week.

    • +1

SAME! Although I got 5% off via eBay.

Jump started my Golf with no issues.

  • +1

    Thanks

I just call racq. They charge enough these days. May as well use them.

    • +2

I agree with you and the NRMA are the same but thinking about this purely for convenience and not having to wait the 60 mins for them to turn up in most cases.

    • +1

But if you are not a member … They quoted me $80 to jump my car, right next door to there yard.
These are handy camping where your phone May not get service

  • Anyone heard of any issues storing these in your hot car? I park in the sun for 9 hours per day.

Is this a decent alernative to properly wiring up dual battery systems etc in my ford econovan I use as a camper. ie. Can i run car stereo, and cig lighter devices, charge laptop, small cig lighter invertor etc in van.
Then since van doesn't tell me any battery percentage at all, if I accidentally run battery too low to start van, then just have this to start the engine, and then idle engine to recharge the single battery.
Note: I cannot afford to pay $500 or more to install proper dual battery system
Thanks in advance for any advice.

    • A low battery cut off to kill the "accessory" power before the battery goes flat would be the best way. e.g. https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/low-voltage-low-voltage-…

(I haven't used this device, I suggest you do your own research before buying)

A voltmeter would be quite cheap and lets you keep an eye on the battery level. You can get them to plug in to the cig lighter socket, or wire one in.

The jump-starter would be a good backup if you're gonna be far from help.

Another 'cheaper' dual battery system would be something like this: https://www.australiandirect.com.au/Battery-Systems/AGM-Deep…
(it won't run your car radio though)

      • Thanks for the info.
$130 seems alot to spend just to cut off battery when low (when can keep jump starter handy like this one) . I know it reduces battery life running non-deep-cycle battery down.
The cig lighter voltage testee sound good, and something I would be interested in.
So can actually keep track of battery level just by plugging some cheap devive into cig lighter plug ?

Thanks OP was waiting for a deal for this. Thank you very much

  • The code you entered is not valid.

    Deal over it seems.

  • +1

But how is it compared to name brand products like NOCO GB40 which can be had for 80$ on eBay: https://www.ebay.com.au/p/NOCO-GB40-12V-UltraSafe-Jump-Start…
Granted NOCO doesn't have QC3 aso but I'm more interested in reliability of the jump-start function.

    • I find Suaoki ones to be better than these…

  • +1

I don't really like the fact that it can't be charged with a standard USB charger, but decided to order anyway - only to be told that:
"The code you entered is not valid." :(

  • The code does not work. Anyone got another code to bring down the price to $71.99?

  • Can anyone share their experience with this.
How good is it as a jump starter? I need one and wonder if it's worth buying on full price?
