Previously has Amazon deal, but this turns out to be the cheapest available so far. Use the code PIXEL to get 20% off from the $325 tag, reducing the overall cost to $260 delivered.

Yeah, I prefer to have Spectre and Meltdown Inside
Not according to this https://www.gamingscan.com/amd-ryzen-vs-intel-for-gaming/
That article says intel IS better.
Really? This is Ozbargain, not whose epeen has the fastest chip.
The question was asked which chip is better, not which is the better value. You shouldn't get so upset about characters typed up on a website, your acne will go crazy!
@PlagueistheBargainer: there was no question, just fanboy hot air.
@mattomatic: yep just a bit of fha
I think you get a 8400 for the same price as this, no competition. Support team red, (profanity) monopolies, intel didn't take us anywhere for over half a decade with all their r&d funds now amd comes straight outta nowhere and shooks the market with less than a tenth of intels r&d.
Not a AMD fan but it's either you support their products or keep get price gouged by both IBM and NVIDIA. Sure, AMD isn't better than either those companies but sometimes they release value products at cheap prices.
@Recessiontime: >price gouged by both IBM
Wut?
I love it that AMD is there but I'm going to buy what's best for my usage case and for me that is Intel.
intel didn't take us anywhere for over half a decade
And neither did AMD really unless you count adding cores as progress. For me I would rather improvements in IPC or clock rate than additional cores but both sides are having trouble doing this …
@Diji1: 2 years ago intel said it was impossible for average consumers to have 6 core cpus with strong ipc, 2 years later we have 16 and 18 core beasts with great ipc. In the past amd has always looked at different ways to innovate the world of computers with intel copying it. You know 64bit processors, well amd made them first, guess what, that was extremely progressive. In terms of ipc intel and amd are pretty even, however intel just clocks higher due to having a more mature platform, (how long have they been stuck at 14nm?),if amd had thr same duration as intel they would be equal if not heaps better with the number of cores they offer.
If not for AMD we'd still be on quad cores.
Right now Intel has a slight edge in certain games, but IMO this only really matters in online competitive scenarios, and where skill level is sufficiently high, ie for 99.9% of people(and yes this includes most religious Intel fanboys) the few extra frames really don't matter very much. AMD offers double the compute threads which is faster in productivity tasks and gives better future proofing.
@Diji1:
Diji1 you've let me down :'(.While Intel and AMD are both capitalistic monopolies, Intel is worse than AMD.
At the least I thought you would've chosen AMD, or stop voting for both monopolies with our wallets and choose ARM.
@Wystri Warrick: AMD is far from a monopoly, this isnt on the same scale as Woolworths Coles in market but i totally agree with you.
I told myself I'd wait for Zen 2 but that is very cheap…
Read this and weep:

Would have been $380 for 12 cores. :(
I don't have the mula right now to buy this, wish I did, I'm going to need to save for a bit to upgrade to an all ryzen system. I remember back in the day (2 years ago) 6 cores were unreal and beyond average consumers, now an 8 core 16 thread cpu costs $260 brand new, I got my 6500 for $270. Sad lyf. Pull the trigger buddy.
I have this chip. Works a treat. Great overclocker with the stock cooler, gets up to 3.9ghz with a slight increase in voltage.
Multitasking is a breeze, and haven't had any big issues. All the motherboard/ram compatibility has been ironed out with a multitude of BIOS updates. Definitely recommended if you want an upgrade from a quad core.I only managed to push of 1600x to 3950mhz. No matter what, I couldn't get 4ghz lol.
The 2700 can easily got 4.2ghz.
I wish AMD would represent something comparable in GPU segment. CPU wise - I'm intended to go Ryzen build closer to Xmas.
Intel i7 is supposed to be better for gaming with the same setup when benchmarked, but the Ryzen 7 is better for heavy applications.
Any thoughts from anyone who has compared both the latest Ryzen 7 and Intel i7?Good price considering the Intel equivalent seems to be double the price
Like you said, the comparable i7 is almost double the price.
However the recent r7 and i7 are pretty close, in gaming I'd say the i7 is about 10% faster whereas the r7 is about 5-10% faster in productivity. Don't forget the am4 platform is going to be future proof and it runs cooler compared to the i7. If you buy expensive ram the difference between them is minimal, the ryzen processor gains significant boosts when paired with fast ram and tight clockings, whereas the i7 doesn't gain as much of a boost. Totally up to you, but if you're spending $400+ on a cpu, im sure you're going to game on 1440p display, the i7 beats the r7 in 1080p, however as resolution is bumped up the difference becomes little to nothing in gaming.
I bought one of these when they came out thanks to this deal back in March last year. Excellent CPU if you can take advantage of the extra cores. I've got mine running with a very mild 3.8 GHz overclock with a Cryorig R1 Universal tower cooler, so even under full load such as video encoding it's a very cool, quiet processor.
For new buyers it's likely tempting to want to wait for better deals on the R7 2700/X or wait for Zen 2 processors next year, but it doesn't seem likely that those new processors will launch in the same March/April sort of time-frame that Zen and Zen+ processors did, and will instead be a bit later into next year. That also means that killer deals on 2nd gen Ryzen processors might not come around quite as quickly.
What I can comfortably say is that if you need 8 fairly fast cores and you're not using something like a GTX 1080 Ti at 1080p, an R7 1700 for this kind of money is a great deal. I've got mine paired with an R9 290X and it hasn't let me down for 1080p gaming @ 75Hz. This processor will likely see me through until "AM5", though I'm very interested to see what AMD does in 2020 and whether or not 4th generation Ryzen (which would be Zen 3 for those counting) is supported on AM4.

Personally I'm thinking of getting something like this and then skipping Zen2 for the Zen3 the year after. That's the last one that's guaranteed to slip into the AM4 motherboard and a 16 core 7nm after they have sorted out the teething problems seems enticing.
Who knows, by then Intel might have some actual competition.
Good price.But I prefer Intel
How do you apply the code? My ebay cart keeps giving an error when I apply the code so it never goes down to $260
I just tried it on my phone, add it to your cart, click checkout, there it writes vouchers type PIXEL, it drops to $260 when I did it now, maybe try on desktop if you're using mobile, turn off any vpns or ad blocks you might have(doubt this is the issue)
Cheers, it seems my account was buggy. I created a new account and it works now.
