  • Should use this OR Google Pixel Cam App (which need to root)?
Looking for a nice cam for Redmi Note 5.

    • Google Cam App is amazing but there is pretty much no manual option. Not like you need it because the Pixel 2 I'm using is exceedingly hard to take bad photos, but for a non Pixel phone it may not be the best.

I didn't need root to install on my S7 edge

      • Wow without need to root?
Can you share the download link please?

        • You just need to sideload. https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/camera/

Some of the later versions may not work properly on phones that are not Pixel/Nexus.

So just go through the versions and see which one works for you.

I installed it on my Nokia 8 and now have two camera apps, the built in Nokia 8 app already has all the manual controls listed here, but Pixel Cam has some interesting features like Photosphere and Lens Blur.

You might need to consider this app listed here, because the version of Pixel Cam I am seeing does not have all the manual controls listed here.

        • See this links further down from user SmP46 for a very comprehensive list of versions of Pixel camera apks. It's slow on my S7E but the results compared to stock app are sensational.
I'm using the one from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/themes/google-cam…

if you can convince people to pay for image created from oppo then you are a pro :)

    • I shoot blockbuster movies with my Oppo now!

  • Seems to offer less features then my Samsung phone.

    How is this better?

It has "Pro", "Professional", "HD" and "4k" in its name. Just add "RGB" to become 1337.

Open Camera is the same thing, but free, open source and doesn't have and BS buzzwords trying to sell itself.
    Hardly a deal.
Or here is a collection of Google Camera mods, which are pretty much the same camera apps that come on Google's Pixel phones. They have a lot of very good processing, make some amazing lowlight photos.
Or Simple Camera is a nice simple camera app, which is also free and open source.
Or probably the preinstalled camera app on your phone.

You do realize this is free too?

Read the first line in his comment.

    • You are misleading people. This app has a lot of features for example that Google Cam does not have, yes I just checked.

        Open Camera

        • Support for Camera2 API: manual focus distance; manual ISO; manual exposure time; manual white balance temperature; burst mode; RAW (DNG) files; slow motion video.
        • Option to auto-stabilize so your pictures are perfectly level no matter what (see example image).
        • Expose your camera's functionality: support for focus modes, scene modes, color effects, white balance, ISO, exposure compensation/lock, face detection, torch, antibanding.
        • Video recording (including HD, taking photos while recording video, time lapse).
        • Handy remote controls: timer (with optional voice countdown), auto-repeat mode (with configurable delay).
        • Option to take photo remotely by making a noise (e.g., voice, whistle), or by voice command "cheese".
        • Configurable volume keys.
        • Optimise GUI for left or right-handed users.
        • Zoom via multi-touch gesture and single-touch control.
        • Option to lock orientation to portrait or landscape for photo or video. Upside-down preview option for use with attachable lenses.
        • Choice of save folder (including support for Storage Access Framework).
        • Disable shutter sound.
        • Overlay a choice of grids and crop guides.
        • Optional GPS location tagging (geotagging) of photos and videos; for photos this includes compass direction (GPSImgDirection, GPSImgDirectionRef).
        • Apply date and timestamp, location coordinates, and custom text to photos; store date/time and location as video subtitles (.SRT).
        • Yes you can take a selfie (also known as front camera), includes support for "screen flash".
        • Support for (some) external microphones.
        • Widget to automatically take a photo after launching.
        • Support for HDR (with auto-alignment and ghost removal) and Exposure Bracketing.
        • Dynamic range optimisation mode.
        • Support for Mi Band 2 & Amazfit Selfie.
        • Small file size.
        • Completely free, and no ads in the app (I only run ads on the website). Open Source.
  • Just compared it to the inbuilt Nokia App, it has the same features but more within each feature.

For example, more choices for white balance, more choices for focus etc.

I think this is a decent app, better than most camera apps. Install it, before ruling it out. The interface could be better though.

  • “will turn your phone into professional camera like”

Do i still need this app when the huawei nova 3 takes full pro pics already?

    /s

    • You can download it for free and let us know.

      • In case you didn't get the joke.

For the record no app for a smart phone can make it be able to replace a dslr. People who take photos for a living aren't going just dump their dslr and lenses so they can just bring an iphone x or note 9 with this app installed to do a photo shoot.

  • Expired? Now 6.49 for me.

    • Nope it's still free and the normal price is $5.99 not $6.49. You sure it's the same app you're trying to download?

      • Hmmm…interesting, now I get the $6.49 crossed out and free. "HD Camera Pro" on Play Store. Different prices for different people at different times…weird? Anyway got it now for zero! Thanks OP.
