Feel sorry for all the idiots who paid more than $100 on gumtree/ebay for nes

    • +14

lol, thats bit extreme to call ppl idiots because they paid $20 extra

      • +9

Just a reminder that some people paid upwards of $300+ for the NES classic!

        Kotaku

    • I dunno, it doesn't take many hours of usage for that to be worth it to an enthusiast and it was a long time ago!

      • +4

Real enthusiasts would have the original NES…

  • +3

    there is a glut now

  • +4

Still waiting for them to be $20…

    • +6

You might be waiting a while

  • Any free shipping?

Watching my investment go down the drain.

    • I purchased a spare Mini SNES, hoping to flip it in the distant future. Saw they we're being reproduced, so gave it away as a birthday gift…

      • Yep I bought 4. This was when they were scarce but I only paid rrp.

Basically going to give them away.

No idea why you're getting downvoted. Good job. I only wish I did what you did ;)

Because it's basically selling pirated software…

I take no issue with ROMs for private use but when you selling them with a hacked console for profit that's a different story. It's no different to selling chipped consoles with a stack of "backed up" game discs.

        • Gotta put the disclaimer No copyright intended then proceed to pirate all the games

    • getting your hands on 50 consoles at the beginning is hard to believe

When you cut laps around Victoria JB hifis when you get “the call” about stock deliveries 😛😛

        • lol… i couldn't even get my hands on one to resell

        • +2

          Today on /r/thathappened

          THIS!

      • Not really. No one knew they were going to be so scarce until it was already so.

There would have been nothing stopping you from pre-ordering 50 from JB-Hifi. They didn't even take a deposit from me. When I picked it up 2 weeks after release there was still a whole stack sitting there that hadn't been collected yet, there was no urgency and it was at that point just a cute novelty. Reviews were advising to just buy a cheaper emulator/Raspberry pie etc and there was nothing to indicate that more pallet-loads wouldn't soon arrive. But they didn't.

The part that is hard to believe is somehow foreseeing the scarcity and taking the risk of obtaining so many.

Amazon have now dropped the NES Classic Mini to $86.95 Delivered to compete with this sale. Might be better if you want the 6% cashback :)

    • +6

I'd rather give my money to Gamesmen than Amazon. But like you said it might interest others

      • What reason?

Do you have alliances to gamesmen?

        • +3

Local, Australian business run by genuine guys with great customer service. You can't say that about many others.

  • Kinda tempted by the Astro headphones. Worth it for an Xbox + Switch setup?

  • +1

Would Jbhifi price match this ?

  • Flash it with hakchi ce and load all nes, sega, and snes games. That only these minis will go worth it.

  • What are people's experiences with the NES vs the SNES?
I think the SNES would be better but I think I like the NES games more (maybe more my era… haha).
Do people get both? Or can you say hack the SNES to also play NES games?

    • Yes.

    • I bought both and now I don't have time to play either of them.

I'd get the SNES if you are hard on cash. Easy to hack (well I could do it)

Just wanted to play NBA Jam and Super International Cricket. The games aren't as good as you remember.

    • If your intention is to hack it (super easy to do) you have to go with the SNES.
Two controllers in the box, and more buttons on the controllers makes other emulators playable.
