  • Good

  • will uni email suffice or do you need to go into a branch and show ID? reason i ask is because optus give the student discount with a uni email (and some other retailers).

You need to confirm this in branch and you have to provide a student ID card which must have your photo, full name etc.
So you genuinely need to be a student.
My friend did it but in the end he didn't get the bonus because supposedly the bank attendant who opened his bank account opened "Westpac Choice" ensuring that the student discount (monthly fee is waived) is active.
However, that was not sufficient as you need to make sure you are opening "Westpac STUDENT Choice" and not regular "Choice".
He later converted the account to STUDENT by going in branch (again) and this time they closed the regular account and converted it to STUDENT.
In the end he wasted so much time because none of this can be done over the phone and didn't get the money.
      Westscam - never again.
