Lol, was going to post that but that seller is not a power rated seller yet, only $1 difference make this deal sounds about the same.

    • Though the one you linked doesn't have GPS unlike the OP.

    • The one you linked doesn't appear to come with GPS Logger.

  • +2

Flip it backwards to see if your wife is cheating on you

    • +4

Does your wife always sit in the rear seats instead of the front passenger seat?

  • -5

I personally wouldn't recommend this. The brand is quite reliable, but problems can arise such as clock being reset due to capacitor power loss which means all your recordings get recorded over leaving you with no footage, or other random issues such as how they handle power loss etc.

If you want to invest in a front and rear camera, just get two dash cameras, that way you'll always have something (hopefully)

    • +1

Doesn't the camera set the time off the GPS?

      • -1

I don't know about this specific model, but the two Viofo A119s I have default to GPS off once the capacitor loses charge.

    • +1

Gps will correct your time with satellite every time you power on, even without gps on, haven’t experienced any issues with time settings tho

      • -1

I don't know about this specific model, but the two Viofo A119s I have default to GPS off once the capacitor loses charge.

    • Do you have experience with this model doing that?

    • +2

Absolutely pile of vague BS. I've never had any of the vague issues mentioned in this members post. The A129 for me has been absolute 100% rock solid.

Oh and this price is nothing special.

    • +1

Troll comment, these units sync the time every time you turn them on via the gps. They also remind you to format the memory card.

Reliability also comes down to memory cards, not all are great for dashcams.

I have always used Samsung ones, other brands may also be good but these have been rock solid for years. Check reviews to ensure your sd card is reliable and suitable for the constant use in a dashcam

      Heat and constant writes.

      • As I've said twice in comments

I don't know about this specific model, but the two Viofo A119s I have default to GPS off once the capacitor loses charge.

IMO this is the best priced twin channal dashcam on the market now, prove me wrong if theres any. the review online all over the world sounded really promising

    • +2

I have a Mini 0906. Fairly impressed with apart from the issue where it seems to loose my sensitivity settings occasionally.

      https://dashcamtalk.com/mini-0906/

    • What review are you referring to? there is no "all over the world Viofo A129 review" according to google.

This dash cam seems too new to fork out money when there is a lack of comparison and reviews on reliability

      • Heaps reviews online across different Dashcam communities, and lots of video on YouTube comparing with higher priced big brands. Reliability have been really good for all other Viofo cameras, guess this will rock hard as well.

  • $198 bargain….

    • When you compares the similar video quality Blackvue goes for around $700, then reconsider the price tag again. It’s all comes down to the fact you pay for what you get I guess.

      • This isn't a $20 dash cam.

    • +1

This is something JV would say

  • Good deal, i purchased this last week with PENNY5 code. Shit happens to me always.

Mine had hardwire kit and a 32GB memory card as well and came down to $227 something.

  • How to install the back cam? I used to plug my old one into the car port in the front. Do u need to hardware it urself or something?

    • Rear camera plug straight into the front main camera through USB port, you just have to lead it all the way to the rear and stick onto the rear windscreen.

      • Thanks. I'll buy one :)

        • no worries

      • Can you conceal it or should I get it installed professionally?

        • +1

You can concealed it to a certain extend. As my trunk opens up similar to a hatch, the wires are exposed slightly. Again, I install it on my own. No biggie.

  • Hmm selling quality stuff. While the picture is good, their frigging mounting system in a previous model was horrendous. Always disconnects. Not sure why they didn't do more product testing for release.

    • Feel the same here, I have a A119 too but reallly don’t like the design of the gps module, since the a129 came out and read lot of reviews and forum talk they did upgraded the overall design of the a129. Did make a purchase and received my one not long ago and installed, actually very happy with the new gps module, heaps better in terms of the structural design and connectivity of the pins.

  • +1

Just installed one last week & have discovered that it messes with the DAB digital radio reception. Unplug the rear camera & DAB reception returns to normal. I've tried various places around the rear windscreen, but I think this is just some interference from the rear camera that isn't going to be fixable.

    • Not sure about that but don’t have DAB in my car so can’t comment :(

      • +1

        No, it's true.
It depends on the car model, some have the antenna close to the mounting point. It's annoying, and it cannot be fixed with a signal booster.

The BlackVue's don't have this problem…but you do pay for it.

        • is that confirmed? blackvue no probs?

        • @mrbillions:

Yep, although I only know of the last 2 models of the BlackVue. If you get an older one, I am not sure about it.

I remember a British reviewer on YouTube about this topic. And his final solution was "I don't need radio, can stream from phone's 3G".

    • +1

Try with a better quality USB power supply. I used the cheap crappy included 5V adapter with my A119s and running the power via the same route as my DAB antenna destroyed reception. When I swapped it for a nice Tronsmart adapter the issues went away.

At the very least it's something you can try for only $10.

      • Which tronsmart adaptor did you use Alzori? Got a link? Cheers!

        • Hey dude, I got it wrong. I got a blitzwolf charger, the BW-C10, link: https://m.banggood.com/Qualcomm-Certified-BlitzWolf-BW-C10-Q…

They're both good brands though, I think pretty much any of the ones they sell should work well (as long as it outputs a good 2A at least).

        • +1

@Alzori: Not a bad idea. I'm glad to hear real world experience that this solution may work. That particular one is too big to fit in the area where my power plug is in the car, but I'll try some others & see if that solves the issue. Thanks for the suggestions

    • Today I learned there is such thing as digital radio, so thanks for anything thing ill probably spend money on

  • This code can't be applied to your order….?

    • +1

      U trippen

      • Whoops still had USA address from last sale!

  • Cashrewards and shop back has gone back to 1% now…

    • Oops.. war stopped?

  • A119 Pro I have, it has 1440P, better picture for reading number plates (not sure what sacrificing GPS means though)… I think
You can buy x2 for around $200 also.

    • with GPS? which better?

      • +1

I would think 60fps is more important than 1440p (the 119 does 1440p30fps). Faster fps means less motion blur, which also makes things easier to read. That said the 129 only does 60fps if you disable the rear camera it seems, so I don't know what's better on balance.

        • From what I have read online, the motion blur is the same with 30fps and 60fps. The advantage of 60fps over 30fps is smoother playback at slow motion.

On my A119s I find 30fps adaquate frames per second even at freeway speeds so have it set to this to extend storage.

        • @m in perth: ive watched 30 vs 60 fps videos and multiple times you could read the passing cars number plates while on the 30 fps you were unable to

        • @RandomFox:
Interesting, I will have to do some test of my own in 30 fps and 60.

        • @m in perth: I just watched some youtube side by side 30vs60 videos and used < > buttons to do frame by frame, chances of captures the number plate are still only slightly more likely at low speeds and depending factors

  • Anyone know how long the rear camera cable is?

    • I think the rear cable is about 6m in length from memory.

  • My viofo stopped working after 3 months. Won’t be buying cheap again. My 7 year old Lukas still works fine, probably go Blackvue next.

    • +3

Tried updating the firmware? My 119s went all weird after a few months (screen messed up, not recording). Managed to get it to update though and it's been fine since then.

      • Also make sure you're using a micro SD designed for dash cams (ie. ones labelled "high-endurance" or designed for surveillance systems). Regular ones have limited write cycles and will fail with the demand of a dash cam.

      • I did and it fixed it. But unfortunately 2 weeks later doesn’t work again. As in dosnt even power on. Have expensive memory card. Problem is won’t power. It’s an A119s

        • Cheap sd card will always give you headache when used in dashcam. Even in my blackvue using a samsung evo card always giving problems. Upgraded to endurance pro solve the problem.i thin k this applies to viofo too.

        • Damn, that sucks man. Good that the Lukas is treating you better.

    • +1

Found Viofo dashcams to be generally reliable (have 3 of them for over 3 years and family have another 3).

Only problem I have had is a failed capacitor causing the last file to become corrupt as could not save in time after power off. New capacitor from Altronics was $7 and 5 mins to fix.

  • Error applying the code for me.

  • Does anyone know an easy way to connect a rear cam to a SUV or hatch?

The unit is sold out, so I'm thinking of buying this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Blueskysea-Mini-0906-Dual-1080P-…

    • +1

The 0906 is notoriously unreliable I wouldn't waste you cash.

    • This video may help you even though it's not the same camera. https://youtu.be/cA6m0aLMbRQ

      • Conveniently skips the B-pillar though

  • +4

Just realized they sold out, here is another seller sells @ $1 cheaper which is local : https://m.ebay.com.au/itm/Viofo-A129-Dual-Lens-Dash-Camera-T…

Sale finishes on Monday as well.

  • +1

they back in stock now, arent they?

  • This little thing really worth the cash! I have both this and blackvue dr750, Now regret paying that much for blackvue. Im on the road most of the time and i can tell you this a129 does a prefect job both front and rear.

  • Is there a good set of installation instructions out there for having the cables all hidden and also hardwired? Bought 2 sets for both cars (Mazda 3 and Land Rover Freelander 2) - now working out how best to install, apparently you need a 3 wire kit or something?

    • refer to above “blitzR” comment , even tho they are not the same Dashcam but give you bit idea how to wrie them up.

  • As I don't have a reversing camera, can this be setup to view rear camera when reversing (via gps maybe)?

    • sure you can, camera has a picture in picture mode where it can show either front camera’s view or rear camera’s or both, all you gotta do is switching to rear camera’s review to use when in reversing, simple as that. But I think you have to position it right in order to see the bumper to bumper view.

  • Does it record front and rear in parking mode all night? Do I need hardwire kit with those function? Thanks.

PS. Got car scratch by idiot people by parking on street. Didn't know what happen these day people are so cruel.

    • Yes you need to hardwired it to make parking mode possible when you are away.

      • Thank you.

    • +1

Do I need hardwire kit with those function?

No. Hardwiring isn’t needed to use parking mode. We use powerbanks to power our dashcams.

      • +1

Don’t you leave powerbank in Summer as well?

        • +1

Sydney recorded some of the hottest summer days in 2017. The powerbanks had no problems with the heat during those days.

        • @whooah1979: Great news! Bought one. Thanks.

      • I really like that idea! I'm very curious as to how large of a powerbank you use and how long it lasts?

        • +1

We rotate two 20000mah units for every dashcam. Each unit may provide >36hr of power depending on the settings and the traffic while operating in parking mode.

      • Anyone know how much power does it use? And how long does yours last? (Obviously depends on how many mAh. But sounds like a really good idea

  • so I currently have 2 x A119's for the front and rear
    I am recording in 1440P

would this purchase be an improvement for me ?

    • Don't think so. It records at 1080p 30fps if you use both cameras so it would probably be similar. Night time video might be better but not sure. The other benefit is you probably get synced up videos, but I don't think that's worth $200 to get.

    • +2

Definitely a improvement from the gps module’s design that’s for sure, then you saving the hassle to run two cameras with two memory cards, and a129 have better night vision than a119. Thirdly, a129 has WiFi and Bluetooth. Then finally and most importantly, Viofo will introduce the live view streaming from WiFi connection in car which means in near future you can hook up ur WiFi modem in car and view live streaming from your smart phone whenever there is a need. That’s a great feature for lot of people.

    • Saitek, do you have 2 x A119 or A119s?
The reason is the A119s is 1080p, only the A119 is 1440P.

If you have 119s, these cameras have superior night vision and not sure it would be worth the switch.
Also not sure if the wifi is really worth it, I have only had to review footage a few times in the last 3 years, taking the card out takes seconds. Also look at the youtube videos on reviewing the footage over wifi, with the high resolution, playback over wifi pauses and buffers. You can download the file to your phone and then play it that is another option. To see the detail, your really want to view it on a PC or TV with a large display.
