How much are de bortoli?
I was going to pick up a couple of bottles of this on my way home, can't go wrong with $5 wine
can't go wrong with $5 wine
You can actually, and since wine is in abundance, there should be a higher expectation of quality.
What wine do you recommend then for $5 that is better quality than this one.
@Homr: I can't to be honest, but that doesn't mean this should be purchased just because it's only $5.
@Lorindor: Some people drink for the affects of alcohol, not the taste. So I reckon $5 is pretty good
@Homr: That's just sad, but I'm not one to pass judgement, so if getting pissed is your only concern - go right ahead.
@Lorindor: No its not, whats a cheaper way to get drunk then?
@Homr: I think it is, you should at least enjoy the taste whilst you get a buzz!
@Lorindor: I do both!
@Lorindor: (Edited) So its fair to say this is still a bargain then. Especially as you cant recommend better as $5 is below your wine budget. Remember not everyone wants or can afford $20-30-40 bottles of wine (or whatever your budget may be)….
This is Ozbargain :)
So its fair to say this is still a bargain then.
I never said it wasn't, but I also wouldn't recommend it purely because of it's cheap price, that's not the OzBargain spirit.
This is Ozbargain :)
What's your point? Regardless of budget and pricing, people are going to offer their opinion whether you like it or not.
@tux182: ^^this, i drink within my means :)
@Homr: it’s good. I recommend it. Goes down well with pretty much everything.
@Ozjoey: Thanks, but I'm not a Chardonnay drinker. I'm a Sav Blanc drinker, mainly the Marlborough sauv blanc
I recommend the Toi Toi Sav Blanc. To me it taste just as good as the more expensive wines like the Catalina Sounds or the Secret Stone.
@Lorindor: The hang over is going to feel the same regardless of drinking the $5 bottle of wine or the $20 bottle one.
@Lorindor: So you don't like it but others do. Good for you!
Point is I have a 'higher expectation of quality' type of comment for such a post.
Have a very happy Friday! :D
@Homr: nice one. I hope you buy it in bulk for that extra saving
@tux182: the best cheap wine in a bottle is lindemanns. The zilzie bulloak is ok too. A lot of people like McGuiggins red as well. Yellowtail is awful as well as Wolf Blass but also avoid Rawsons Retreat. Cleanskins arent worth messing with when cask is usually better
@tux182: I bought 1 bottle of the de bortili and 2x wolf bass
If you buy 2 bottles of wolf blass you get an extra 10c off. So 2 for $9.70
So its fair to say this is still a bargain then.
I never said I didn't like it, I just don't really comprehend the whole 'low price=must buy!' mentality some members on this site have.
You can be a bargain hunter and have a standard of quality at the same time.
So, despite saying
'You can actually, and since wine is in abundance, there should be a higher expectation of quality.'
+
'I can't to be honest, but that doesn't mean this should be purchased just because it's only $5.'
and then amazingly this
'I never said I didn't like it'
Maybe a slight contradiction then?… Or maybe you like talking in riddles?
Whats next 'I didnt say I liked it either'?
@SirMurduck: Thanks - always up for trying recommendations
I'm not too sure why you are so confused over those three comments, as neither of them mention or even hint at the fact that I may have had this wine before, I was simply making a general statement.
I'm not confused. More calling you out.
Anyway. There's not much mileage to this chat. So I'll leave it there.
Have a good weekend!
@Lorindor: If you dont get it - its probably worth reading the text above?
Failing that get someone to help you with it.
Lets leave it at that shall we?
@tux182: That's not going to work on me, so you can stop trying.
Jog on mate.
Will do xxx
The Cab Merlot and SSB casks are the best ones, some people reckon the Colombard Chardy is a good drop and some others like the Traminer Riesling but I think its horrid.

Agreed, a cask of this is much nicer, with 5.33333 bottles per cask, and Dans current pricing is "$26.90 per case of 2" makes that 10.6666 bottles ~$2.52 a bottle 💥
I'm also a fan of the Cab Merlot cask, not bad for a cheap drop.
Not sure which De Bortoli you're referring to, but I prefer the WB over the DB cab/merlot I've had before.
Each to their own
This crap is ghastly, De Bortoli casks are much nicer. There's a reason its frequently $5 across the chains
