WD Blue 1TB M.2 SATA $224.10 + $5 Delivery @ MSY eBay

140
PHENOM

I believe this is the cheapest 1TB M.2 SATA so far. Note that it's the first gen WD Blue using TLC NAND, and has been replaced with second gen using 3D NAND. However with SATA there's not much difference anyway, only slightly slower write speed on the first gen.

Original PHENOM 10% off Sitewide on eBay deal post, thanks to TA.

NAND price is crashing. SSD will be cheaper

M.2 isn't SATA. It runs through the PCI-E Lanes. SATA is throttled at around 600MB/s.
M.2 can get in the multiple GB/s. Only way M.2 is connected to SATA is that on some motherboards it blocks some SATA connections as it can only handle a certain amount of data.
    But anyway it's a good price… :)

Some laptops only accept M.2 SATA and not NVMe. But those laptops that can accept NVMe should accept M.2 SATA too with limited SATA speed.

    • Actually, M.2 is either NVMe or SATA. The NVMe runs through PCI-E lanes, while the SATA needs to be connected to a SATA channel. It depends on the motherboard model on whether it supports M.2 NVMe or SATA.

Well it's pretty pointless getting a M.2 for SATA. Yes it technically can connect but its like using a 4K Blu-Ray on a 720P TV. More expensive for absolutely no gain on a 2.5 SSD.

As I mentioned above, some laptops and mini PCs (e.g. NUC) only take M.2 SATA, not the regular 2.5" SATA and not NVMe. And at this price it's not more expensive than regular 2.5" SSD.
