Telstra prepaid recharges 20% off

I use Telstra prepaid and usually recharge $30 per month. I used to leave it on auto recharge to get 30/31 days per recharge, but this month I checked on ebay and found that you can buy prepaid recharge vouchers for 20% off the face value.
Purchased one and it worked fine, so I paid $24 for my $30 recharge. I realise this recharge only lasts 28 days, but it's still a bit of a saving.
OzBargain guidelines don't allow this to be posted as a deal, so here it is. The seller was ausvouchers. They told me the vouchers are usually delivered within 12 hours, and are within one hour if they are online. Mine was delivered in 5 minutes - probably because I purchased right after they responded to my questions on ebay.
Not afilliated, just felt this discount was worth sharing. Expiry date on the voucher was two years.

  • Is $24 a month for 3GB worth it though, if you don't necessarily. need Telstra coverage? Also my $30 Telstra recharge runs out in 60 minutes, so no time to think about it, I'll give it a go.

It worked. Can't believe I've been wasting $6 a month this whole time. Still think there has to be a better deal, even with the unmetered Apple Music. AM on high quality can't be more than 1gb per 10 hours of streaming.

    • 3gb?!

      Yikes…

Anything in it that the one below doesn't offer? Seems like a hell kf a rip off to me.

Lmfao, didn't realise this thread was from a year ago

      • I’m still with Telstra a year on. I can’t find the discount vouchers anymore either.

    Have also bought from Ausvouchers.
    No problems. :+)

You can usually buy new sims for half price and recharge using those.

    • Do you mean that you can use a starter sim as a recharge without porting, changing number, losing data bank etc?

      • Yes, or at least you can with optus. You activate it as a sim replacement.

        • this isn't optus lol

          • @hmac: I meant Optus can, so Telstra should be able to as well

  • What does $30 a month get you with Telstra - 2.5gb? I would rather pay $30 with Boost and get 6gb, or $25 on Aldi Mobile which gives you 4gb if you are happy not getting 100% of the Telstra network.

    • Or Belong - $30 for 5gb I believe (but better value swapping between $45/15gb and $10/1gb because of infinite data banking)

    • It is 2.5gb. I banked 45gb on a triple data deal with Telstra prepaid back in February, so the 2.5gb per month is still fine for me.
True that Belong is much better value. I use my phone for work, and voicemail is an absolute must for me, so that rules out Belong. I do have my wife and one of the kids on Belong, and we have racked up loads of gb via this method.

  • Thanks, nicely timed. Purchased a $50 voucher yesterday and have already used it.

  • Just checked their (ausvouchers) eBay store, it is empty. Their website has no stock on any vouchers.
    Have they virtually closed down?

    • Not sure….I last bought in November and it was fine.
Maybe on vacation? Possibly you could try messaging them through ebay, that's how I have contacted them before.

I noticed someone else selling $30 recharges for $23 on ebay, but I haven't bought from them.

      • Thanks for responding.
I surely hope they are on vacation as I have actually bought 6 vouchers from them and none of them worked when I tried recharging yesterday. Sent a message through eBay but no response yet.

          Gee I hope so too…

I bought two in November and initially had the same problem. I contacted them on 21 Dec and they sent me new codes. The first replacement code worked fine; haven't tried the second yet.

Their response to me is pasted below. Hope you can resolve it.

          ====

There was an issue with one of our suppliers and a chunk of our $30 vouchers were deactivated by Telstra due to the discounts they were offering. We apologise for the inconvenience.

We have been trying to pin-point ALL vouchers but unfortunately can't until we are contacted by the buyer of the vouchers.

Since these vouchers were part of the batch, please find below a set of 2 new vouchers.

Rest assured this will NOT happen again as we have now changed supplier and can confirm that the problem is rectified.

Again, we sincerely apologise but do appreciate your business and can understand the troubles this may have caused you, so we are very sorry but will make sure it won't happen again.

Thank you so much for your understanding.

          • @exxonsign: Thanks for that, that is a little more comforting haha.

            • @loadafreak: Not sure if you got your refund, but I did buy another code from their website on 11 February (worked fine).
So you could try to track them down through that (ausvouchers.com)

Please note: I'm not endorsing or recommending them, as I saw they had negative feedback on eBay with several people saying they got dudded.

              • @exxonsign: It seems they are back.

They are offering 20% on Ebay and 30% off via their site.

The new $150 and $300 recharges look like they could be worth it.

It looks like he has started with a new username. tvouchers

                • @ilostnemo: tvouchers stopped listing too recently

just wondering if you have managed to buy from their website directly?

              • @exxonsign: they stopped listing again, do you have a new source by any chance
