I tried this before, horrible taste

    • +3

Agree, I think it might be because this is from the Philippines while the better tasting brands like Cocobella and H2coco are from Thailand.

      • …aaaaand you've just helped me made my decision NOT to buy it.

    Thanks BA
Is this a short term price reduction?

    • Cheers.
I guess so 'coz Woolies still selling it for $10 in " Low Price Always " category.

    • You can die from water intoxication from drinking too much water. What's your point?

      • +1

It's actually worse in this case. The article says that a middle-aged man who had been playing tennis all day in searing 32°C heat was taken to hospital because he was fainting.

He was treated for rhabdo, a serious condition where muscle breaks down from excessive exercise stress or damage and leaks into the bloodstream (among other causes).

So the coconut water wasn't even the cause of the life-threatening condition, it just possibly exacerbated it.

My favourite bit is that the article is titled "Death by Coconut." But no one died and it's the only known case. Just typical FUD hype (fear, uncertainty, doubt).

  • Thanks OP,do you know any cheap king coconut water packs?

Yeah not a fan… Raw C is my coconut water of choice right now. Woolies is at the bottom of the list

    • +1

Woolies coconut water is not even on my list. Taste is shocking, couldn't pay me to drink it.

  • +1

    Yeah Raw c is better.

  • -1

I like this woolies select coconut water, in my opinion it has got the closest taste to a freshly cut coconut. I find raw c, h2coco & coco bella too sweet for my liking.

  • Best coconut juice is from the coconut itself.

    • +2

You should apply to be a detective, your IQ is throught the roof!!!

  • Our family love coconut water. It's very nice to see the competition out there now $2.5/L instead of the old ripoff price of $6/L!

  • +1

Tried this and Raw C recently. Woolies brand tasted bland. Like drinking water compared to Raw C.

    • +3

To be fair, I’ve tasted freshly picked off a tree by a local and cut coconut from holidays and compared to boxed stuff you buy from supermarket all the supermarket stuff tastes better. The fresh ripe coconut is actually bland. Most boxed stuff has added sugars, despite what the packaging says

      • +2

        Nah, it is not true.
The taste of Coconut itself is not the same between region/tree/seasons/…
a young fruit has a little bit sour taste
a old enough fruit will be sweeter but too old one will be bland or even tasted like a rum.
In rainy season, the taste is more water (less tasty), in sunny season, it is a bit sweeter.

i'm from southern VN, which have coconut tree, and it is not always to able to drink the best coconut juice.

p.s: all boxed stuff is like shit to me in compare to the true delicious fruit, but it is in bar with a normal one. I can tolerance that because they make it in mass-production.

        • -1

As you would know, growing up in a region where fruit is produced. Seasons, conditions, etc will change taste.

But if you buy boxed coconut water, the taste never changes. Why is this? Why are they so consistent?

It’s a manufactured product, that’s why it tastes so consistsnt, it needs to be consistent, as the consumers demand it.

So now ask the question, how do they produce it so it tastes so consistent if you can’t produce it from a tree the same everyday?

      • Wait… they add sugar, but it's not listed in the ingredients? Isn't that illegal? How are they getting away with that?

    • Agree - I've tried most other brands, including supermarket ones and they're all taste like old coconut water gone bad with a hint of preservatives. The only one that tastes close to fresh young coconut water is Raw C. However, I've had a few bad ones from Raw C that taste akin to drinking coconut milk. Even though Raw C is the best of tasting one, it's still a bit too sweet for a fresh coconut water.

Why you should believe me? I used to drink fresh young coconut water straight from the shells almost every day for 20 years since it's cheap where I used to live. Sometimes I got lucky and had rare fresh young coconuts that has a fizzy coconut water. This is the most sought after coconut as it has soft texture, jelly-like, almost transparent coconut meat with soda-like juice and can fetch a very good price. I bet none of y'all have tasted this one!

  • Thank you. That is exactly what I am looking for. Most of the coconut water on the market has added sugar that put me off. This one sounds good. Will make some coconut water jelly with agar for summer refreshment.

    All coconut water is cancer.

  • Big W at Cumberland Park in SA say (on the phone) that they don't have it.

I guess they'd know as they passed me arpund from 1 person to the next 2, possibly in the hope that I'd give up and hang up. I didn't.
They 'say' they dont have it. I'm not sure because I haven been there assume not inclined to drive 12kms in the hope that they might have it.
Was hopeful for a while tho….
