Just peanuts my friend. Nothing else added other than a wee bit of salt.

      • Not salt my friend it is fantastic as it comes.

    • I'm concerned about the high amounts of polyunsaturated Omega 6 oil found in peanuts. They simply oxidise much faster, but you've also got to eat more fish to balance the 3/6 ratio. I buy this brand, made with high-oleic (omega 9, monounsaturated) peanuts: https://www.motherearth.co.nz/product-item/crunchy-peanut-bu….

But if you already have an unhealthy diet you're probably already eating loads of oxidised omega 6 (from vegetable oils in fryers etc) that blow peanut butter out of the water. RIP.

They simply oxidise much faster - NOT True

Canned Peanut butter in WW2 Army Rations from 70 years ago are still good to eat and not rancid. You can watch people opening them and eating the peanut butter on youtube.. smells as fresh as the day it was cooked.

peanut FAT is a stable fatty acid. The chain is in a brick like form where molecules cant get in between and damage it over time. They are shelf stable like honey :) sealed and stored Honey from the tombs of Egypt have been unearthed and found to be edible.

All fats are not the same.

  • Finally.

  • Good price for Peanut Butter. I might buy some to make some Satay Chicken.

However, I bet that Dick Smith will overlook deals like this and still blame Aldi for his demise?

Thanks OP for spreading… the news

Best peanut butter out there (Dark roasted). Closely followed by Mother Earth > Pics :)

    • i agree :) .. dont like dark roasted though

Last time i purchased these they were made with 100% Aussie peanuts..
For some reason they are now 50% Aussie and 50% imported .. i think from south America somewhere. Not sure why as Pecs is still 100% Aussie peanuts and so is mother earth.

      • Mayvers are not 100% Aussie? Interesting to know & half tempted to wait now… But it does taste so dam good!

        • Could be a supply or high cost issue. Best to check at time of purchase.

    KUDOS for their Green credentials!!

A smooth (easily accessible, & cleanable) glass jar with a metal lid - apparently able to be inverted, without spilling, to mix oils too!
WITH EASY PEEL OFF SECURITY TABS & LABELS!!!
An OZ operation that beats the Red Star top [NZ] alternative - with their boiling water label removal system.
A PITY ALL LABELS can't be as easily removed - I just wonder about the recycling/disposal of these labels?

Must admit to being converted to the dark roast!
99.3% peanuts leaving only 0.7% salt.

Still only half OZ peanuts now :-(
At $2.50 for 375g, might OZ peanuts be available for $6.67/kg?

Disappointingly COLES OZ high-Oleic natural peanut butter seeming to have gone :-(

COLES Organic high-olec natural peanut butter is still sold at my local coles express in St Leonards as of 20/09/2018

    • Visiting Coles yesterday I forgot to get a couple of jars, but did check out their OZ peanuts.
IIRC just 0.8% salt, 96% peanuts, roasted in peanut oil!

$10/kg for 100% OZ, compared to this $6.67/kg for Mayvers - now made with half Argentinian peanuts.

No mention of high-oleic: so I will have to check the peanut butter section - THANKS!

      Good Eating!

Upside down storage a selling point?

  • I will probably get some of this but can I just say blinking flip the cheapest 250g butter in Coles today was $3.25!

  • What about the other varieties? Do they go on sale too?

    • It's pretty much always the full range for products when they go on sale at either supermarket.
Yes Mayvers specifically has the other varieties on sale, look here.

      • Thank you.

  • Actually prefer Pics PB over this one.

  • are these better than Pics brand

  • I went to my local Coles (Subiaco) and all the Mayver's PB were still marked at full price!

    • Investigative journalism in action. What did they say when you showed them the catalog?

    • +2

Pay the full price, show Customer Service the receipt and score a free jar.

    • They sometimes don't put the tags up, and like others said if it scans full price you get one for free and any additional jars at the correct price.

  • +2

Well, I got mine today. Thanks again OP.

    • +1

      Same, thanks OP!

To anyone wanting to get this, they are going fast and most of the shops were out of stock by the end of the 1st day of sale.

    • +3

      Get rain checks, people!

      • +1

I don't buy first day as you get old stock.

I buy a few days later and get long expiry good for stocking up, if out of stock I get a rain-check as already mentioned.

        • I have never asked for a rain check before. In case I need it, can I ask a rain check for 10 jars?

        • +1

@Colombian: Yes, I get one for 10 or 12 hars of coffee.

  • …never realised peanut butter was so popular???

    • +2

It's the cornerstone of any balanced diet.
I dont really eat toast anymore but it's my go to indulgence, when I want something & have a scoop of this. Divine.

  • A friend is looking for the almond butter version but has had no luck in Miranda, Hurstville area. Anyone seen?

    • +1

Seen at Kurri Kurri which is no use to you. Did you try Hurstville Station and Westfield? If they stock it but sold out, get a raincheck.

      • +1

Tried the station and the coles in Wynyard. Will see about Westfield

        • The deal very likely ends tonight.

  • Just bought 6… Thanks OP :)
