Lindt Excellence 85% Cocoa Chocolate 100g Bar 60c at Ritchies IGA Kurri Kurri NSW

290

Usually about $3.69, found in the clearance trolley, I only bought 10 so there were 8 left and at least 10 of the 70% cocoa bars, all with a BBE of 28 February. In my extensive experience, bars of chocolate wrapped directly in metal foil are fine many months after the BBE date. Other branches may have some too. It is very hard to find a better chocolate for making cakes etc.

Great price, pity I don't live nearby. However eating 85% cocoa directly is a bit of an acquired taste, most people can tolerate up to 70%, so I usually buy 1 85% for every 4 70% bars. I hear there is even 99% for fanatics.

I have never seen Lindt 99% but I have seen bars made by Valrhona (a French brand) claiming to be 100% cocoa. As for the Lindt 70% line, last year I entered Coles just as the girl was getting ready with the price gun. 35g bars for 10c with 3 months BBE to go. I bought 82 - since then I have joined OzBargain and I can inform everyone if something similar occurs. Let every shop be a lucky shop!

Not as nice as the 110%, but then again, I'm a choco-snob.

      • Hahaha, good one. New meaning to overdose on chox. :)

  • wow 60cents good price
but these are reduced to clear(near expiry date)
but still a very good price for Lindt

  • Almost worth a drive to Kurri to stock up & grab a burger whilst I'm there…the Kurri takeaway shop has the best burgers I've tried in years!!! :)

60c is cheap. i eat the aldi 85% bars and they are $2.49 for 125g.

This is probably the best tasting 85% chocolate available. The problem is once you get used to 85% everything lower tastes kinda crappy. 70% is tolerable anything below that now tasted like fat and suger… too sweet with hardly any chocolate aroma at all.

    • choice did a review of some fairtrade chocolates not long ago http://www.choice.com.au/reviews-and-tests/food-and-health/f…. aldi's faired very well.

the aldi stuff i eat comes as 5 x 25g bars so it easy to consume one portion each day. but aldi's price makes the chocolate extra sweet. i haven't tried aldi's fairtrade dark cholocate. i had a look and it was only 60%(?).

      • I might try some of the Aldi dark choc, but last time I had a couple of their milk choc bars (the 29c sale) they nearly turned me into the Great Cornholio…damn they're loaded with sugar, way more than any other brand…I threw the rest out, nasty things!

I still need TP for my bunghole… :p

      • The Aldi Fairtrade Organic Dark has 70% cocoa solids. I bought some yesterday because of no Lindt offers recently.

Most of the time the Lindt stuff is a bit too expensive for me so I go for the Aldi "Moser Roth" 85%.. (don't think it's fair trade). It's not as good as Lindt but still very good.. better than most of the other stuff available at supermarkets.

        • i tried some lindt 85% today since it is on special at woolworths. i found it disappointing, flavourless and powdery. i much prefer the aldi moser roth 85% stuff. i've tried the aldi fairtrade 85% but prefer the moser roth. i don't have an old packet available to compare nutritional info.
