  • At first glance I was like $15 for a Stanley knife copy? but on closer inspection this seems decent. I like the reload feature and the sturdy handle. The free thingy looks ok too. I’m usually a “snap-off” kinda guy but I can see some value here.

We also have small Snap off Utility Blades at a very sharp price ( see what I did there! :-D ) - top quality Peace brand blades, made in Korea.

It's usually a matter of the right tool for the job - if you find yourself inadvertently snapping off blades or going through them too fast, it's probably a good sign that you're on the losing side of a game of "Knifey-Spoony"! That's when an upgrade to Trapezoid blades would help.

      Thanks Oppe.

      fixed…

    • No probs @boo hoo - I hope it cheers you up! ;-D

That was a nice zinger too btw!

I've used one of these. The auto reload facility is temperamental at best. And the cutting end is quite bulky and has a tendency to scratch surfaces where others wouldn't. Ie cutting out grout on an internal bathroom wall.

Hmm… that's a pity @gooddealmate. We've found the auto reload mechanism works well with most blades (the notches on some blades are too shallow and they won't load). It can feel "jammed" sometimes if the stored blades become stuck together due to the anti-corrosion film many blades have on them, but with a firm push of the slide button, they'll un-stick and the next blade feeds through.

Re: regrouting, I'd recommend having the blade fully extended, that way the face of the body shouldn't make contact with the tiles. And/or get a good quality Grout Saw - right tool for the job and all! :-) Being all thumbs at the best of times, I always take my time with such finicky jobs too… 8-P

Going for $22 and above on eBAY, so its a good deal to me.

    Got one..Thanks

  • It sounds great, but perhaps lends itself to wastefulness as it surely isn't flipping blade ends to get use of the whole blade, is it?

    • Good question @BlamJam! That is indeed is part of the idea with trapezoid blades - they are reversible, so you can get 100% usage of the blade (no wasted ends).

Infact, being a thicker and sturdier blade than snap-off's, if you keep the blade oiled and hone it with a sharpener or very fine sand paper, you can get a very long service life out of a trapezoid blade.

Of all the utility knives, these would have to be the least wasteful. :-)
