I have 3 of these beauties already and can confirm that they have over discharge protection and start flashing on low voltage, so its very obvious when they need recharging.

Great light but it's a gateway torch. I started with ThorFire C8s. Now have added Q8, Astrolux & Convoy C8, ThorFire VG15S & TG06S, Convoy S2+, BW-ET01, Astrolux A01 and Lumintop GT mini with BLF A6 & Astrolux S41 in the mail.

Another senseless torch victim, when will the madness stop?

Also I want a Q8 for some reason. I swear it has nothing to do with p3n!5 size! PS. It has to be $39.

What do you use them all for?

  • Awesome, missed out on a lot of good deals recently, including the last one on these. Thanks a lot for sharing!

I have also just asked Thorfire if they can do a deal on their 14500 torches (ThorFire Mini Flashlight, 500 Lumen EDC Pocket Light with 5 Modes,TG06S Powered by AA or 14500 Battery) as I am sure there are others here like me who bought similar torches from Zapals and are less than impressed with them, and looking for a better quality torch to use their 14500 batteries with.

    • Was happy with mine on AA, pending 14500 delivery. Was VERY happy with the luminance with 14500. Only downside is starts on high not moon/low so not very good for the middle of the night vision. Smal.l enough to clip on cap visor

Just bought it. Dont need it but everyone keeps raving about it.

Lets see if i even use it

    • Go out to your local reserve and spotlight in the trees for wildlife.

You will certainly notice the difference.

      • More like blind and scare away all the wildlife. Anyone find any cheap red filters that fit these C8 torches?

Cheers, grabbed one. First 18650 torch so need a couple more batteries.

    These OK? https://m.ebay.com.au/itm/2x-Panasonic-18650-NCR18650GA-3500…

    • Yep, they'll do fine. They appear to be protected though, so if you ever end up buying a high-drain light then you may not be able to use them without tripping the protection circuit

        I bought these:
        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Panasonic-NCR-18650-B-3400mAh-PR…

They work. Not sure about longevity because I haven't had them long enough. At least they spend some time discussing why they are genuine..

      • +1

Silly question now. Why use protected? If There’s a good chance the torch will be left on (kids) would it be better to use protected for over discharge reasons?

  • Signed in and have prime but can't get discount code to work - can anyone else confirm?

Voucher is no longer working. Thorfire supplied units unavailable.

The battery and charger are rated very poorly on other amazon reviews, so i would replace those asap.

    • If you don't need the battery and the charger, the torch can be had for approx US$18 from Aliexpress delivered. Takes longer to arrive thou.

      • We have had Thorfire C8s for just over 17 bucks on special via Amazon here on OzB 2-3 times now. No huge wait times .. and local warranty.

  • Thanks, jumped on the BLF Q8. From memory reading before the most often recommended is the Samsung 30q? Are there listings in both button top and flat? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4x-Samsung-30Q-18650-3000mAh-Hig…

  • :O so many people going for higher capacity batteries… Lower capacity high drain normally has a longer life, and cheaper as well. Actually non-high drain would also work (5C is fine).

Since a charger has double or 4 slots anyway, might as well get 3-5 batteries.

Anyone know what low Voltage it starts to flash? 2.5 or 3?

    -LiitoKala Lii-500 if you can.
-TP4056+Cell holder if on a budget (reliable 4 slot charger for like $6, just need to solder 2 wires each)

    • Pretty sure low volt is 2.6 volt

  • Price has been changed to $69.99 now?

These must be really good coz everytime I saw a deal on these, it's sold out or expired…

  • I seem to always miss out. Does anyone know if the ones on EBAY are any good? They go for around $30 but are all from China/Hong Kong

  • Bought one of these last time, really good torch. Love the build quality.

  • mine just arrived. bring on the night!

Surprised to see the charger is Thorfire branded and quality appears quite good. I was expecting no name rubbish.
