Burnout Paradise Remastered [PC] 75% off for Burnout Paradise Owners - $7.49 via Origin

240

Pre-order is now open for the PC version of Burnout Paradise Remastered for August 21 release. If you already own the original Burnout Paradise on Origin you'll get a nice discount for the Remastered version. If you own the Steam version of Burnout Paradise you can redeem the cd key on the Origin client and claim the discount on Remastered that way.

This works out even cheaper if you snagged an EA Origin gift card when Woolworths had 15% off.

Burnout Paradise Remastered comes with updated 4K support and DLCs that were not available previously on PC. Still one of the best racing games to date.

Thanks OP glad I didn't pay the console price

If you don't own the old version already, you can buy it from a cdkey site for about ~$8. Making the new game around $15

Wish they'd remaster Burnout 2 or 3. They were the best.

Been playing 3 and Revenge a LOT lately in my down time.

You know when a game seems great in your head and then years later you go back and you play it again and it's nowhere near as good?

Does not apply at all, those games hold the (profanity) up and are MUCH more fun than Paradise ever was.

  • I've not played video games in ages but damn, this was my favourite game back in the day… Brings back memories

  • This is how remasters should be priced. Well done EA! (Never thought I'd say that)

  • Hmm I don't own the original Burnout Paradise but I got the 75% off anyway. Awesome!

    • Nice. Did you do anything special? Not coming up for me

I went back to the Origin homepage and clicked on the banner for the deal and they gave me the 75% off no questions asked lol

        • Nice, tried it and it works. Thanks russbuss and OP

        • Thanks russbuss!

        • Note that to see the discount you actually need to log into your Origin Account.

As an FYI, I have Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box on Steam but when I tried to redeem my key on the Origin system it recognised the game and my email address etc but it said that it was already redeemed (which it was on Steam all those years back) so was very happy to see that this alternative method worked as well.

Only things i've got on the banner is Player appreciation sale, The Sims, and BF 1… no burnout

        • @Krondorf: same here, logged in or out - no burnout :(

@lachlanww: My mate got it at 11am today so maybe it was a limited time offer? Either that or they realized that there was no check for previous copies of the game and so removed it.

        • @lachlanww:
Ended up finding it, at the top of the web interface you might see a dark notice that burnout paradise players can get a discount by logging in.
I clicked on that (which i wasn't able to yesterday) which took me to the home page, scrolled down a little, and there was a box for remastered.
Clicked on that and it took me to a discounted page..

But i think i've decided it's not actually worth it anyway.

  • I only have a Chromebook, so it ain't for me, but I appreciate the shit out of stuff like this, so you can have what will probably be my last upvote of the day.

  • I've got the original (actually the ultimate box, apparently), but never played it (or any of the games in the series). Worth picking this up instead?

I’d get it for the heck of it as well as Battlefield 1 for $6.44.

      • Here is the link to Battlefield 1 sale for those who want both.

  • Thank you. Just picked it up.

  • i try to redeem my steam key on origin and it says it's already redeemed

    • Maybe try the @russbuss method above

  • The method in your third sentence does not work.

    • If by third sentence you are referring to, "If you own the Steam version of Burnout Paradise you can redeem the cd key on the Origin client and claim the discount on Remastered that way", have a read through the rest of the posts and you will see that you do not need to pre-own the original to get the discount.

  • Got the game and one thing that I am disappointed about is that my STEAM version (Paradise Ultimate Edition) works great with my Steam controller but the ORIGIN version does not.

I have since added the ORIGIN games to my Steam catalog and done the usual linked shortcut and went to the Big Picture layout to set up the controller but it still did not work.

Will spend a bit more time googling to see what other solutions I can work out but I think I might just end up using my Steam version in the meanwhile.

    • Found the solution and currently playing perfectly well with my Steam Controller.

Instructions copied below (I skipped steps 5 and 6 though):
      1 Click "Add a Game…" in Steam
      2 Click "Add Non-Steam Game…"
3 Use the file browser to find your Origin install folder & add Origin.exe.
      4 Click "Add selected programs"
5 Rename "Origin.exe" to Battlefield 3, SimCity, or whatever the Origin game it is that you are adding.
6 Set the icon by finding your games install directory and clicking on the games .exe (this is optional).
      7 Restart Steam
8 Make sure your game has added properly.
9 Rinse and repeat each of these steps for each and every Origin required game you own. It's tedious but Steam get's confused if you don't restart after each game.

  • So if you own Steam Ultimate Box version, is it worth buying Burnout Paradise again in remastered form on PC?

    • I couldn't find much of a difference but then again I'm too busy trying to win the game as opposed to staring at the scenery.

      • I'm debating if I want to buy on PC again vs. buying on Xbox One X where I can use my 4K TV at least… hmm..

EDIT: Stuff it, I had $40 of Origin credit from some random Big W gift card sale before so thought may as well use it.

  • I'm amazed this game works well on my CHG90 (49" super ultrawide!).

Only issue so far is I can't figure out how to change to metric units rather than imperial… doesn't appear to be an obvious option in the settings. Any ideas?
