    Store name in title please

Negged for merely pointing out one missing component in the title?

Please include price, shipping costs, merchant, product name or model number in the title (max 128 chars)

      • Wait this guy negged the deal itself?

        • +3

no, the comment. people love their internet points

  • +5

not a bad piece of kit. would buy it just for the cabinet and the 4.0 batteries… hmm… must…. resist.

also the product description is wrong lol

    • +1

Yeah, I was like, have I been using my cordless blower wrong?

    • Sell the rest on Ebay or Facebook or such and someone will buy them

  • Looks like a good deal.

"Take on even the toughest stains and surfaces with the RYOBI Airwave air sandblaster gun. This gravity-fed unit powers through rust, old paint, ingrained dirt, or any other material stuck to your metal surface. The max running pressure of 90psi can be sustained delivering air at 66 litres per minute. This makes even the toughest jobs easier and simpler than any manual or electric sanding. With the RYOBI Airwave air sandblaster gun, you can truly make light work of even the stickiest situations."
Why is the description for a Ryobi Airwave air sander ??

    • +3

You can chuck some sand in the blower

  • BOOM!!!

Not as good as brushless AEG kit https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/371031 - apart from the storage cabinet, has anyone got one to review it?

    • i would love to get this Brushless AEG kit but apparently it is no longer available.

      • I got the Brushless DeWalt impact driver and drill..it looks great… just not used it enough

    • +3

Cheaper to expand the Ryobi range for a DIYer though. There's an abundance of second hand stuff available too

    • Just realised you meant the Ryobi not a review for aeg but oh well. Loving it, haven't used as much as I expected but still using it more than your average diy-er. Make sure to get the extended warranty by registering online.

      • Yeah I meant if anyone has details on the Ryobi storage cabinet as can't find anything about it online.

  • +11

This is my next project, although modified from this.. using my 5 piece Ozito that i picked up for $198.

    https://www.hertoolbelt.com/cordless-drill-storage-charging-…

    • That is excellent, thanks for posting it.

I'm gonna make one of those too!

  • +2

love my one+ range… only regret is packs like this werent available when i started. it has cost me a bit more in the long run, but pretty happy with the gear.

The circ saw is the only thing that struggles with the load as a cordless.

    • +3

Using the larger capacity Ah batteries helps.

      • definitely helps… :) its really only good for pine.. it suits its purpose for the most part :)

        • My Bosch one has been great on Jarrah. So much more convenient than corded for modifying the terrible patio extension someone tacked on out the back of my place.

  • +1

so you can't buy just the cabinet at Bunnings? I need one!

  • Saw this last night, didnt think it would be of interest to ozbargainers :)

    • +1

don't be honest on the internet lol

    • +1

It happens to me all the time, hard to know what is going to be popular, even massive corporations get it wrong!

  • +1

Really good deal. Especially because you get the 4mah batteries instead of the standard 2.5mah in almost every other kit.

Wish they had combo kits without drill/driver though. I know they are the most sort after tools, but once you have them, amazing deals like this are no use to you. I'd love a combo kit with the batteries, storage unit and charger for example.

    • +1

It's not even a hammer drill. If you're the type of person buying this sort of combo as a first time tool buyer a hammer drill + impact driver combo (or even just hammer drill by itself) is a far better option. I'd even say rather just get a hammer drill alone instead of the paired combo if that was the choice. Need hammer drill for masonry, you can somewhat get away with not having an impact driver.

      • +15

Say hammer drill one more time

        • +1

          hammer drill one more time

          Is there a prize?

      • +5

true, but on the other hand, if you're drilling holes and then putting screws in repeatedly, it's very nice not having to keep changing between drill bits and phillips attachments, having one for each.

edit: plus i also find hammer drills for masonry is something i very rarely need, so busting out the extension cord and using a very cheap powerful corded drill is fine

        • -5

You won't be drilling much with 4mah batteries.

        • +1

Agreed. I'm 90% through adding skirtings throughout my house (never again) - used a cordless for pilot hole/countersinking/screwing, easy to swap bits over and battery lasts for ages.

I've then been using an Ozito corded hammer drill just for the masonry drilling. The combo has worked a charm and saved plenty of time.

      • Another annoying thing is we dont get brushless combo's like the US does or the smart batteries for that matter. I purposefully got a combo that didnt have a driver because I really wanted a brushless driver because it would be my go to tool.

Haha 1st world problems I guess. Alot of choice for affordable tools, but not alot of choice if you want to buy bulk. Would be cool to see like a "create" your kit from Ryobi where you could interchange different tools.

      • +1

You can get cheap 240V hammer drills.

      • +2

If Thor doesn't need a hammer, then why would I.

  • If there's anyone in the Brisbane Southside area who is after the blower, 1x battery and the charger and is willing to split please pm me!

  • +1

I renovated a house with an old GMC drill so I need to upgrade. The two viable options for me are Makita and Ryobi, and Ryobi is cheaper and has more "home consumer" design.

I'm taking a long term view and I'm heading towards Makita. The Makita line trimmer (whipper snipper) and hedge trimmer look good. Makita has stacking storage cases for around $40 each. Both have 12V chargers which Ozito does not.

The only difference in skin availability (for me) is Ryobi has a tyre inflator that Makita does not have.

    • +3

Dont kid yourself. The makita is as much a home/consumer tool as the ryobi. You want a trade grade battery tool then buy a Panasonic, Hitachi, Bosch, or Milwaukee.

  • +1

Not that I'd buy them, no idea what they are like, but have you seen the Big W cordless.. they have bubble levels, one on the back end and one on top, Good to know you're straight and level etc.

  • torn between this and a similar Regular priced Ozito X kit
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-power-x-change-18v-5-piece…

yes, I know its different brands, but for the occasional DIY guy, the more tools the better

anyone have any suggestions/comments for me on either kits?

    thanks!

    • +2

I have some ryobi stuff(not the drill), and my brother has the ozito stuff. I can say the ryobi is a far better tool. At the end of the day its not a pro grade tool, but if your doing a bit of a reno at home, I feel the Ryobi will outlast the ozito. If your just doing some occasional hand mans stuff around the home then the ozito would probably suffice.

      • +3

Ozito is the professionals choice as it has a belt clip, the ryobi lacks this crucial feature.

      • My original Ryobi Drill is still going strong after 8 years.

    • +1

Ozito being a bunnings brand has awesome warranty. Plenty of times I've been out of warranty and they just replaced because it was their Ozito brand

      • +2

I had a 150mm circular saw that was part of a pack. When I took it back, they didn't have any 150 so they upgraded me to a 165mm at no extra charge.

      • does it require receipt? my ozito drill has no power probably due to battery

        • nope just tell them you lost the receipt…

      • Bunnings is the sole importer of Ryobi One+, so same thing goes!
I have nt\ot had any issue with returning Ryobi One+ at Bunnings, no questions asked

    • That kit came down to $199 when ALDI had a sale on!

  • +1

I picked up the 5 piece Ozito when it was on sale, made the hard choice easy.. works well for diy and i have some reasonable diy… i do worry about the power of the tools and whether or not the other brands are more precise i.e circular saw, but when it came up for $198 the other month or so ago i couldn't resist. Watch out for Aldi specials as thats when Ozito items generally come on sale.

  • Aldi had the 5 piece set a month ago or so similar to the ozito for $199. With two 4 Amp batteries. I grabbed one and the first time I used the drill on a piece of pine 2 inch it went up in flames absolutely junk, I dont know we're Aldi get the supply from but they look very similar to the ozito and Aldi had the 5year warranty also I got a refund.Maybe someone has more info on that.

  • +1

The degree to which I want that storage cabinet is nothing short of childish.

Looks like a really good deal here. Most of my power tools are Bosch Blue, but also have a Ryobi drill for odds and ends (mostly when I don't want my good stuff potentially damage or left with someone else) and I've never had issues with it. It's solid, reliable and for your average DIYer, all you need.

  • I want the storage cabinet as well.

  • Damn. I just purchased an Impact Driver.

  • Thanks for the post, picked up one this morning for combined Fathers Day & Birthday present for Dad/Poppy.

  • Any idea what the model number is of the Impact driver? It looks similar to this one

    • RID1801

      • Thank you for that. The Impact Driver I have is the R18ID3. It is 230nm. Much difference? Just I have had it less than 2 weeks, and it might 'die'. I was thinking about returning it, and paying the extra, as I am keen on the 2 x 4amp batteries. I was going to sell the skin, and maybe the charger.

        • Sorry can't help you, ours is for a present & I grabbed the model number for you off the box before it was taken away to be wrapped up.

        • +1

@Triple J: No worries. I appreciate that you provided the info I needed.

For those interested, I sent a query to ryobi re cabinet, here's their response :

    Hi ,
    Thanks for getting in touch.
Can't confirm an exact date, however, we are looking at releasing the storage cabinets on the own later in the year.

    Thanks - Matt

  • +1

Thanks OP. I ended up returning my Impact Driver, and buying this pack.
