Great deal! Just spewing that I booked a travelzoo offer a couple of weeks ago for $99 elsewhere (not as nice) for 2 nights at Easter. This deal is very good, and there are a few nights available over Easter too!
$60 for an extra kid is a bit of a rip. My 5 year old would be lucky to go through 50c worth of cereal for breakfast..
Don't "declare" him.
One of you checks in. The other brings your kid in later (or have a large suitcase with plenty of holes).
i guess he can sleep on the floor…
Depends how big the kid is, some can easily share a queen with parents.
Anyone have an opinion on why accomodation in Melbourne, Brisbane, etc. is much cheaper than Sydney, and weekend availability is higher? Not sure that's fact, just my general impression from the Wotif overview and the sorts of offers I get in my inbox from Meriton et al.
Melbourne is definitely cheaper. It's always easier to find a 3/4 star for less than $100 in Melbourne, Sydney it's very rare.
I guess both business and tourist stays help underpin the Sydney market more than the others.

Could be. This report said a year ago Melbourne hotel prices averaged a little more than Sydney's.

You can get a Double room with a private bathroom, or share a room (of 4, or more) if you're just stopping through, & just want a bed for the night, & shower, etc.
VERY clean. The kitchen, lounge & dining rooms are fantastic.
Free movies (in the movie room) every night (+ free popcorn;) Pool on the roof!
Worth a look.
Generally the private rooms at the YHA are $120+. Might as well stretch it to $130 and get a real hotel.

even after numerous chats between the General Manager and the "Executive Housekeeper", it doesn't seem to be fixing the problem…
Tripadvisor is a great site … I've posted a few reviews there myself (but I've never stayed at this Rydges) … I'll check Tripadvisor first before posting any similar deals.

Me 2! I didn't see $99 one as well.
There are some $99 still left, fourth line, but the weekends and public holidays have all gone. (When I posted the deal, apart from the next couple of weekends they were all available.)
Good luck getting any sleep on Swanston St. lol. Trams going by every 1-2 minutes, etc.
I stayed here last week and had a terrible time; they screwed up my booking, the sheets were dirty and to top it off they charged me for a bottle of wine from the mini-bar that i didn't drink.
I MUCH prefer Rydges in Preston
