    Any deals on Grand Seiko's?

  • How does hardlex glass compare to mineral and sapphire

    • +2

Its was actually invented and patent by Seiko. I would say its somewhere in the middle but definitely closer to the quality of sapphite then mineral.

    • +1

      scratch easily compare to sapphire

      • yeah much more so

I've scratched every seiko hardless watch… never any of my sapphire.

        • +2

Mineral scratches easier than sapphire, but sapphire is more brittle and easier to shatter, the Hardlex is a hybrid compromise to offer the best of both in a sports watch .. it's why it's used in the Prospex, not to cut costs,

        • @garage sale:

Hardlex is better underwater. That's why the MarineMaster line persists with it, except the LE's. Just an unfortunate given with Seiko considering you can buy a Sapphire watch for ~$50-60 (Burei). Seiko wants us to believe it's an expensive upgrade. You're correct about the strengths, but I've never heard of anyone shattering a sapphire unless they've had a major incident. I dropped a Bulova with a mineral crystal, which was destroyed, but there were no visible fragments in the watch. I reckon a sapphire would have held in the same situation.

Also Wanye is apparently the last name of Bruce Wayne. Right.

Good post OP. Thanks for mentioning the price is shipped.

    Please recommend a 38mm !

    • +1

Seiko 5 are good fun and cheap - 37mm.
      Orient Start Classic - 38.5mm

    • +3

Patek Calatrava, Vacheron Patrimony, Grand Seiko SBGW251 are 38mm

    • I got the AU1080-38E from the last starbuy sale, great 38mm watch. The white one looks nice too.

  • Why's there always a red ring around the crown on these solars?

    • +4

      Could be an inflamed Uranus.

    • +1

An extra point of orientation in the dark at 100 meters if one is feeling a little "raptured"? They are "real" dive watches, not "desk divers".

  • Just waiting for the CA0650 to be back in stock and on sale.

    • +2

      This one?

      • +1

Yep, pretty bummed I missed out on that!

    • So I take it you're not a fan of Deerfun AU$18.88? I like the Green Hulk Colour.

      • +2

Empoweringly, the dial declares DIFFERENT&LIFESTYLE as a reminder one is a self-proclaimed watch king. If I didn't already have a watch …

        • +3

Having fun with deer may be a different lifestyle, but frowned upon outside of Sherwood forest…

        • +2

@terrys: Ah, Sherwood Forest … not just Merry Men but indeed moderately happy.

    • +3

Maybe you could submit a watch deal for less than $50. Actually, any deal would do!

    • +1

      What's the usual price?

OP's $299 Seiko Solar Prospex SNE437P is currently $599.00 at Myer.

    • +2

I wouldn't pay more than 50 cents for a bit of minced cow and a nutrient-lite bun but there you go. These are for those who want 95% of the quality of a $3000 watch for the cost of an annual service - a bit like those happy to have 5% of the flavour of a $50 steak for the price of the linen napkin.

  • Waiting for your next 1134 deal.

    • +2

I've asked a few Reps a while ago but they won't drop the price enough to make it worthy of a deal on here.

The cheapest I can find it is $8.95 shipped.
Or you can get the Sanda version in large or small for $7.19 shipped
