You're opening a can of worms my friend..
You can still get "free" reusable bags at Coles until the end of August though :)

      • +1

Yeah there's no limit on them!

  • $4.90kg in SA.

Save your money and eat some cotton balls soaked in water.

      Thankyou.

But you get a free bag with every tomato!

      • +4

2 if you double bag each one.

        • Why not triple bag them? Then you get 3

          @Micoa:

I like to use the boxes that the bags come in because the tomatoes can't roll around my car.

But I don't want to leave a mess of bags all over the floor at the checkout so I take them with me so that I can throw then in the ocean.

  • 4,50 vic metro.. usually produce specials at coles only apply to your local shop

    • Yeah $5.50 at my local NSW. :(

  • cheers, will pick some up today!

What's the layman's difference between Field/Gourmet/Truss tomaccos? Or is it as minor as Ketchup and Catsup?
    (references aside, genuine question)

    • The truss ones are those that come in a bunch with the green stem still attached and they are linked into bunches, not individual tomatoes. The field are the general everyday ones. The gourmets can also be the everyday ones too. Then there is the Roma ones which are sort of egg shaped. Of course there is all the little ones too - cherry, grape etc.
The truss are generally a riper, more flavourful version. Mostly dearer but occasionally better priced than the others.

No idea but supermarket tomatoes just seem tasteless and bland to me.

  • cheaper to scan them through as carrots

    • Remember no jobs were lost as a result of automatic checkouts, I read it in the news who were repeating Colesworths press releases so obviously it's true!

      • I would say this is true. Every time I go to Coles I see masses of people going through the regular checkouts. Sunday afternoons are the most busiest time with every checkout and self-serve being used, lines everywhere.

I haven't bought fruit veggies from a supermarket for years, however.
