This thing is quite good considering it fully automatic and almost hook it up and forget about it. It revived my almost flat battery twice.
Nothing wrong with a dumb charger but it is just that, apples and oranges to try making any comparison. These CTEK's are highly regarded, can rejuvenate dying batteries too which can save you the cost of replacement (pays for itself right there and then some)
I don't own one (yet).
I'm pretty sure every charger sold in Australia has auto shutoff and can tell the condition of a battery while charging… anything less results in a dangerous outcome.
Granted I have not bothered to charge too many crappy batteries.
it's not just about turning the charger off when the battery is full.
smart chargers like these continually adjust their output current to match the charge level of the battery.
end result being happy, long lasting batteries, because they aren't being forced current they don't want.
These are quality chargers, cheap ones can have voltage ripple which can damage batteries.
You don't understand Quality?
hmmm
Cheaper here at $119.99, or $113.99 using the PENNY5 code.

SCA Battery Charger - 7 Stage, 12 Volt, 15 Amp $109.00 was $179
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SCA-Battery-Charger-7-Stage-12-V…
PENNY5 and cashrewards will further reduce it
this is a 15 AMP the other is a 5 AMP
is this better then the CTEK?
Dont compare an elcheapo Supercheap charger to a Ctek….
I'm confused with different AMP i.e there are 5 Amps one and there are 15amps one too. How do we know which one is right for our car?
The you tube tear-down confirms it does not use nasty chinese crap inside

There is also a review and it confirms it does exactly what it is supposed to do

SCA Battery Charger - 7 Stage, 12 Volt, 10 Amp $99
SCA Battery Charger - 7 Stage, 12 Volt, 6 Amp $89Also you tube CTEK teardowns and see the guts of them
@OzSikh:
The higher the AMP gives a faster charge if you don't need the battery ASAP and can leave it overnight the smaller AMP charger is perfectly fine as once it is full it will monitor the battery and maintain a trickle
And if all you are doing is keeping a battery on trickle for that ride on mower, boat, weekend car, spare battery then the smaller AMP one is probably all you needA higher amp one will charge faster.
The amps are in hours, so if you have a 75a dead flat battery and use a 15a charger it will take 5 hours to fully recharge.
I was looking for one, ordered it. Thanks for sharing.
Their RRP is a bit crazy and far fetched…but not a bad price for 127 delivered and with the extras inc.(cooler bag excluded)
The MXS5.0 is good for bikes and cars. This is unbelievably cheap but not sure about the seller
https://m.ebay.com.au/itm/New-CTEK-MXS-5-0-Battery-Charger-1…Because It’s from China. So, No 5 Years Warranty plus add GST on top of the price.
This seller is currently away, and isn't processing orders at this time. You can add this item to your watch list to purchase later.
Sound way too cheap to be true.
Might be fake…
Repco has 35% OFF all C-Tek chargers, sale starts today.
$104 for the same charger at Repco but doesn't include the bundle items in this post.
Picked up the CTEK MXS10 for $183.20.
I dont understand why these things are so expensive. i think i have an el cheapo $20 charger and it works fine granted i only use it to charge up an optima.
Maybe they put up with crap chargers.
