  • Crop year says 2016. Doesn’t sound very fresh.

    • Apologies for that. Our developer hasn't updated the website. I have asked them to do it right now. It is this year's harvest. We are ordering the new harvest in Nov-Dec for next year.

Trump dyes his hair with saffron.

That's not hair, that IS saffron.

  • Iranian yellowcake powder is only about 10cents per gram. Also makes good hair dye.

  • Thanks for the orders everyone! all packs will be shipped on Monday morning.

  • I saw a bit on TV about Tasmanian saffron farmers having a hard time selling theirs. The supermarkets won't sell it. So I googled to find out how much it is - $60 for 1 gram! Jeez, no wonder they can't sell it.

    • Yes it is unfortunate. the labour cost is high. There are only 3 stigmas in each flower so imagine how many flowers it takes to make up 1 kg of saffron. The Tasmanian saffron is very good. The weather is very important to grow good quality saffron and areas such as Iran and Spain seem to have the best environment for growing saffron.

Yes, it’s a combination of that and that the people growing it in Tassie want to live a low stress, high quality life (as so many niche product producers do) and stick on a ‘Byron Bay’ tax. They are not regular farmers.

  • Quick question.

How long does it take to deliver to Melbourne CBD?

    • Thanks for the question. Not more than 3 business days.
