Chase Up Those Amaysim SIMs - Activation Period Ends Soon!

Like many others I ordered one of those 6 month Amaysim renewal packages for less than $10 during the last month. There's a few days left for people to activate them for those who haven't yet (like me).

I ordered mine on the 6th and decided to get a SIM directly from Amaysim (mistake) rather than get a cheap SIM then port/activate it on the Amaysim website using the promotion code. That was what I should have done. Instead I had an email from Amaysim on the 6th thanking me for the purchase but then silence.

Fast forward to the 19th and I remembered I hadn't been sent the SIM - so I started a live chat. They were apologetic and said there was a problem with the system on the 6th so I went through the whole verification process again. I got all the confirmation emails again and the rep told me I will receive the SIM in 3-5 days and can activate it then.

Fast forward to today the 27th and I still hadn't received the SIM! I started another live chat and the rep told me there was a problem with the delivery (that they never told me about) and the card was returned with no instructions to send it back out. I let him know that if I don't get the SIM in a few days, that the 6 months will be forfeited and I was told I could purchase a $2 SIM to port to them then activate. I said that wasn't really acceptable as I had been waiting more than 2 weeks since I ordered it and that they could express courier a SIM to me.

I was then offered an extra 1 month (as a $10 credit). I took it and will finally hopefully be activating it tomorrow.

TL;DR
If you purchased one of those 6 month Amaysim SIM cards then you only have a few days left to activate it. If you ordered a SIM from Amaysim directly and they didn't send it to you yet, you can get another month usage by asking.

  • Yep, I have got all 3 from shopback and cashreward offers. Now to figure out how to make the best use of the 3 mobile numbers…..

    Anyone has any ideas? I know some sites only allow one mobile number per account. Just can't think of any that would be useful right now.

    • Make more Amaysim accounts with different email address? Give them to family/friends as having 3 amaysim numbers + your normal mobile might be a bit excessive?

      Only 4 days left to activate them before they are wasted.

      • I have activated them, because that is required to get the cashback. I am talking about utilising the mobile numbers for other purposes.

        Edit: inb4 someone mentions anything illegal. I meant making full use of multiple mobile numbers legally for 28 days.

    I'm having trouble activating. Could you guys teach me how?
    I logon to my amaysim account and on dashboard I click "Activate SIM" but nothing happens. It just goes to the Plan tab and blank.

      • Thanks, reason i tried posting here is because live chat and support is not available atm. Hoping there's someone who was able to activate theirs without needing to contact support. Bummer.

    • Sounds like you have browser problems. Try a different one or maybe head straight to the activation page? https://www.amaysim.com.au/my-account/activate Sorry, I don't have any products with them any more so can't help with the dashboard.

      • Doubt it, i tried chrome, IE and firefox on home and work PC when happened to me, just kept looping.
        Via online chat they wanted to know the SIM number to link to the account, took 5min of chatting with them and service was activated

        • Knew something was wrong with their system. Thanks for the help guys, looks like I'll be waiting for live chat tom. I can see there:s a different activate sim if I go straight to the activate link, but its asking me to pay again for something I already paid for.
          Glitch perhaps.

          I have the same problem with different browsers tried. In the end I used live chat and they did it manually for me. The service was good. My first SIM was getting a new number. But my second SIM trying to port to Amaysim was half way ported out of Telstra since Thursday. It meant that the number is now with Optus (Amaysim ). But the response was number disconnected annoucement from Optus. Rang support and was told that was escalated to 2nd level support and expected resolution in 3-5 working days. So old number is not working until resolved. Amaysim is good but this time it was unfortunate for me.
