  • Anyone updated software to English? Are there any drawbacks?

  • +2

Apparently there's been an official firmware update via the Mi Fit app that allows for complete English and Spanish language support:

My Chinese version arrived recently and was updated to English automatically from a firmware update in the Mi Fit app.

  • Oh sweet. Thanks friends.

I bought my Mi 3 exactly 14 days ago and the battery is still at 48%. At this rate its going to exceed the 20 day battery life estimate. The device is so much better than the Fitbit Blaze i had. The software could be a little better but this thing does everything the Blaze can do (including heart rate) and its like $40.

    • iOS or Android? Can you get HR data in other apps or it's just the Xiaomi app?

      • It can link up with Apple Health and Google Fit.

        • Does it allow raw data access though? And does it allow Runtastic live access to the HR monitor?
These things were not possible in iOS with the last version and Android required workarounds.

        • @0jay: not too familiar, but I suspect nothing's changed since the Mi Band 2 in this respect.

Keep an eye on the Xiaomi.EU & MIUI forums, as well as the appropriate subreddit.

    • I think FitBits are continuous HR monitor, but Mi Bands are "on demand". I'm pretty sure I used an app to trigger the HR monitor every 2 minutes when I had the Mi Band 2 last time. Not sure if Mi Band 3 is continunous, but I doubt it because of the long battery life.

The Mi Band 3 is marketed as a continuous HR monitor.

The quality is obviously less than that of a Fitbit equivalent, but aside from the very latest models from Fitbit you're not going to see much of a difference in terms of accuracy. If HR accuracy is something you're after, look into chest straps rather than wristbands.

      • You can set it to do continuous heart checks.

  • Looks like might get my old man one of this since he broke his last fitness tracker.

  • got two.
    Thanks OP

  • Nice price. Can anyone who's had the v2 and this one comment on the differences/benefits between the 2?

    • +3

      This video details the differences.

      • This is actually a pretty well done review.

I feel like he overhypes the Mi Band 3 to an extent. For example, he describes the design as being "gorgeous" - really? Not bad but "gorgeous" is a bit of a stretch! I think "new" is a more apt description.

But.. it was well structured and well filmed review with nice transitions which highlighted the features pretty well.

        • Yah, everyone is a bit dramatic on YT haha

Tempted to get this, but think I'll hold out for a deal on the Xiaomi Huami Amazfit Bip. The features seem alot better.

    • What the cheapest you’ve found so far?

  • Thanks OP. I finally grabbed one. Works with Sleep as Android, so a good, small replacement for my old Pebble.

  • Thanks, got one to give it a go.

    I think it's $41.14 now

  • Looks like it's expired. I just tried but received the error "This coupon has reached its maximum limit."

  • For those who missed out, you can get this for $25.37USD + GST at Aliexpress.

    • True.. post as deal?

    • can we trust aliexpress?
