so every smartphone is a copy of the iphone?

      • You mean that iphone is a copy of the smart phones which were around before the iphone was even being though of?

(I know what you are saying however the iphone was not even close to being the first smart phone, the iphone is just the first phone which was targeted as non business users)

        • Ummm yeah but all of the smartphones before the iPhone were about as non user friendly as you can be.

    • -1

And I suppose my Desire HD is a copy of the iPhone. Gotcha.

    • @Turd
      Looks like a ipad copy
How do people live with themselves knowing they sell or make fake stuff?

Hmm… Does your iPad run Android?

  • '12 months warranty' but i cant imagine it lasting very long…
resembles an iPad to some extent and looks more like the galaxy tab on the box…
    Smart Pad Box
    its kinda sad really…

  • +1

The OP may have changed it before I saw it, but the description matches the product. Yes they aren't as good as the iPad, but it might still be suitable for some people. Price is ok, but not really ozbargain worthy.

  • It's not an Ipad and it's not even priced remtoely so why compare it to one lol

Seems like the spec's are good, Android 2.2 is nice, price is excellent for what you get

    • +1

      it's a cheap clone, not a bargain….

  • +2

from the title on the web page:

8" Google Android 2.2 Tablet PC 800Mhz Smart Pad ePad

ePad .. lol.. definitely iPad knock off ..

my mate brough one and dead a week later.. too bad he bought while he travelled to the Panda country but glad that he only paid ~ $100 for that ePad..

    • +3

less than $100, that one should be android 1.6 CPU 400Mhz

  • +3

This is actually a good price for an 8" tablet running froyo 2.2 and 512mb RAM. To those who think it's an ipad copy, you obviously have no idea that every computer brand is releasing their own android tablet, just like iphones vs android phones. The only let down is the 8" size which makes the screen kinda squarish and the resistive touch screen.

    • this one support flash10.1, this is very important, many web contents is flash, if it does not support, the contents will not display. a friend told me, even Ipad does not support flash.

  • Huh?

CPU Freescale IMX515 ARM Cortex A8
Processor Speed 800MHz (Manufacturer data 1GHz)

Which manufacturer is claiming 1ghz? the one building the chip, or the one building the tablet? Because i'm pretty sure the A8s are just 800mhz, so saying it's the 'fastest tablet on the market' is someone….dubious.

  • OP you just need some reputable review to back up this product.. Otherwise it will not go anywhere since there are so many other "ePads" around..

  • +2

A guy at work has one that he bought on EBay slightly cheaper.
He seems happy enough with it, he's had it about a month now.
You can download heaps of apps from the Android store and it is way cheaper than an IPad.
The resistive screen is not as good as capacative but thats how they keep the price down.

    • -2

The resistive screen is not as good as capacative but thats how they keep the price down.

What is the difference in manufacturer's COST price between capacative and resistive screen?

      • +4

The difference in manufacturer’s COST price between capacative and resistive screen is about Aud45.

  • It's Resistive not Capacitive screen, no multi-touch.

    • +1

But resistive means you can use a stylus, which makes it a lot easier to use regular web pages, instead of just mobile versions, or having to download an app. Trying to click a link on an 8" screen with a fat finger can be tricky.
I wonder if the people complaining about resistive screens have just never used a good one. Some are a lot better than others.

  • If I have the money, I'll get the Malata Zpad T2 - Dual cpu NVIDIA Tegra2 and Cortex A9, and capacitive screen, but it's much pricier.

    • -1

      How much?

      • $550 shipped is the best price I could find on eBay (seller: mmanning85).

        • Not so sure about nowsupplier, they are banned on ozbargain, forgot why though.

        • Not so sure about nowsupplier, they are banned on ozbargain, forgot why though.

I think it was because their reps were breaking the rep posting rules

      • -1

Thanks guys, think i would go the ipad over the malata if thats the price.

Specs are different but it sounds too yum cha for me

  • It says that the manufacturer is Securepro, but Securepro is a company selling this product and its full name "Secupro Investment Pty Ltd". Who heard of the manufacturer under this name??? So if the item breaks down there will be an issue with the warranty and $199 thrown out…

    • Secupro owns parts of a manufacture of security products in China, has good relationship with this smartpad manufacture, Secupro provide 1 year local warranty, Secupro is able to repair this products, for example if it drop to the ground, the touch screen is broken, the repair fee is $50.

  • I wonder what these tablets will be selling for in 12 months time as they seem very expensive compared with netbooks with higher build quality and more parts?
The new improved Apple iPad is already being manufactured and existing iPad enthusiasts may feel they paid a bit much for basic gear with a nice screen?

    • Since when you can pinch/zoom on a netbook? they are 2 different product type. A netbook runs on windows OS. A current generation of tablets run on android OS and will remain so as it matures.

Apple can charge what they want. This is the price you pay for being an apple-fanboy.

    • I wonder what netbooks will be selling for in 12mo.

  • +1

android tablets will come of age when the next OS is released as that is specific to them, at the moment it's a phone OS just enlarged. shame because they have some good android products.

    • +1

Agreed. I'll be waiting to see what Honeycomb looks like before buying a tablet.
And some hardware reviews! It takes more than just screen/cpu/ram specs on paper to make a good tablet.

  • how would a ZT-180 powered 10 inch stack up against this one?

aliexpress has the Zt-180 for around $150-$160 range.

1ghz 512meg ram. android 2.2. not too shabby for a low cost unit.

If anyone is seriously looking for an android tablet, I recommend you take a look at the Archos 70 (7" screen) or Archos 101 (10" screen). It is a canadian company and have a huge user-based in the States. I've toyed with the archos 70 running froyo 2.2 and capacitive screen and I really can't fault this tablet. Price in Aus is around $400ish for the 7".

    • why not nook color? I somehow manged to get it $25 cheaper form ebay (NC $225 + $47 PnH), it can be overclocked to 1.2 Ghz and run honeycomb(android 3.0) smoothly.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1AJefgAli0

    • is that the cheapest capacitive tablet available?

  • +3

I'd wait until Android releases a version that is suitable for touch pads.

  • I bought the exact same product from Aliexpress and the resistive touch screen is awesome. Gravity sensor games does not work well though. Battery life is 2-3 hours.

If anyone want to buy one then go for the NOTION INK ADAM TABLET. Its battery will last 18-20 hours.

    http://www.notionink.com/

Its already sold out though. So have to wait fellas.

  • Cant say for sure if this is an identical "ePad" iPad knockoff to the one a relative picked up in Hong Kong a few weeks ago. I wont say it is for sure, but it sure looks identical.

If it's the iPad ripoff as can be seen in the screenshot on the main page, then I'd personally avoid it. If however it's the one in the multiple product shots, it may be worth taking a risk on it. Or hoping that someone else does and tells us it's awesome ;)

  • This certainly isn't the "fastest…" in the market today! Adam Tablet has 1GB RAM, nearly twice that of this deal. Definitely not a bargain. Do some research, there are heaps of tablets out there for cheap prices.

    • Not 100 per cent certain that RAM has a direct correlation to speed…

      • What about ramming speed?
