    • Fixed. Thank you

  • The deal from last year was AP250BK and this is the AP260BK. AP260K was $300 more expensive last year, good price.

    • Thanks for the clarification.

    • Yeah, just about to say the same thing, must have cleared out all that AP250 stock and finally selling the AP260 (given that the AP250 was discontinued by Casio in 2015 I believe).

Of course now there is a AP270 available (which again JB's don't sell yet) and the AP260 is a discontinued model.

      • yep. This is a good price for the discontinued AP260 which originally sold for $1500

It seems like standard practice in the industry. The new AP270 has come in, so the AP260 goes on clearance.

Considering this fact, true bargain hunters may decide to hold off until it goes on TRUE clearance.

  • +4

Great price but "Authentic grand piano experience"??? Lol

    • +8

That just means that they tried to make the hammer action mimic that of a grand piano in terms of its touch (the weight and responsiveness of the keys, the grade of the hammer action, the way let-off works, etc).

Of course it's not the same, but some digital pianos can get pretty close. Enough that you can practice on a digital piano, then go to a grand piano, and not feel like the action is entirely different.

Kawai really does it best. Their Grand Feel II key action is surpisingly good, with a well-made graded hammer system and actual wooden keys. Their other actions in their lower-end pianos are decent too.

    • +1

No. I just tried using my address in Brisbane and its costs $9.95. Well worth it.

      • +2

        $10 piano delivery. Lols

  • Compared to normal piano,?

    • +1

Does not require tuning. Has volume button.
Fine for basic to sorta intermediate I imagine. Digital piano's have come a long way. We have a basic Yamaha which sounds great. Really no point investing in a multi-$1000 real piano that requires yearly tuning for a beginner, until they get serious.

      • +1

I know some seriously talented pianists who use digital pianos for practice. Being able to practice late at night with headphones is a pretty big advantage if you have a day job (or live in an apartment). If it's good enough for them to use for daily practice, it's good enough for me.

However, they mostly have higher-end digital pianos costing $3K or so.

        • …so your analogy is irrelevant as you are comparing apples with oranges?

        • @JuliusSeizure:

Digital piano tech is great. Cheap digital pianos are less great, but can still be decent.

          It's pretty simple.

The more you pay, the better the product, but nobody needs a real piano for practice these days, except as an aesthetic choice.

Cheap and nasty upright pianos can be pretty terrible too (especially used ones, which is what you'd be getting at a low price point).

        • @marlor: …or more expensive products provide the illusion of higher quality? What's constitutes for the 2k difference?

      • There's no reason to use a real piano other than live sound for people near the instrument.

No reason to use one for recording.

    • For those living in rental properties as well. Moving a acoustic piano will cost at least $600 extra (special removalist + tuning) on your moving cost.
A digital piano can be disassembled in 3 minutes and moved by a Yaris.

      • +1

We need that piano pronto, move Yaris!

  • Interested to know how this compares to other digital pianos for the price!

    • +1

Coming from a clavinova this is not at the same level but still pretty much a bargain. If you could afford i would suggest a csp 170

    • I did my research a few years ago. Back then, a basic digital piano of a good brand was about $500-$550. That was without stand. A stand is often easily $150. This particular deal is for a higher-end electronic piano. Not top-end, but the $998 price-tag is definitely what you should expect to pay usually. In my opinion, based on the brand and features, this is a good deal. Keep in mind that digital piano's are not the kind of things to go on special, and if so, not by much.

    • You need to try the actions and see what you like. When we went through that process years ago, my wife and I found that we preferred (by a large margin) the Kawai actions in their "CN" series pianos over any others we tried at similar and lower price points - so we stretched our budget to $2k.

But it's all likely dependent on what you're used to and how flexible your budget is.

      • I 100% agree with this, it's what you're used too. And instrument will become an extension of you when played. I preferred this Casio over some Korg ones I tried at JB, Yamaha have some nice feeling ones around this price but they did not include stool and stand when I was looking, to me the look with stand was a huge factor as it lives in our living room.

I had a bad time picking a guitar at the music store after growing up with a top end Maton… It set my standards high! Hahaha.

  • +10

Cheers OP! Came up to $687 after using the 15% off digital gift cards deal last December.

    • +2

      Well done mate

  • can it fit in a SUV?

    • Here's an unboxing video that shows box (57kg) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0zwG9Z_vA8

In the end, I opted for delivery which is only $10.

    • Maybe check postage. It only cost me $9.95.

    • +16

Not meant to be played in a vehicle. That's why vehicles are fitted with audio system.

      • You clearly haven't watched Super Troopers 2….

    • +1

I was able to fit the AP250BK (unbuilt in packaging) in my Mazda 3 hatch with seats down (they didn’t offer delivery for this back then).

  • +1

Bought it, thanks OP. Much appreciate it.

  • Does it come with the chair?

  • +1

    bought one. Thanks OP!

  • This is indeed a PX760 with a bigger cabinet, everything you can expect from it is totally entry-level, however, if your budget is around this price range, then 798 is a good deal.

    I would recommend Roland FP30/RP102, Kawai ES110/KDP110 for entry-level models;

If you have 3000+ budget then Kawai CA78 is the one to go for, as it has a 100% wooden key action called Grand Feel II. which simulate grand piano key action well.

    • I bought the Kawai ES110 after a bit of research

  • How does it compare to Yamaha YDP-143 or YDP-163 for that matter? Anyone owns these who can comment?

    • Apart from YDP-143's not being on special presently, YDP-143 from my internet research, connects to an ipad via bluetooth, AP260 connects probably to a PC through a USB port… also Casio is 57kg (as per one buyer's comment above) while YDP143 is lighter at 38kg. Also YDP has a ipad app, whilst AP has traditional menu keys provided on the piano. Anything else?

    • +1

      Ydp143 = AP260= PX760;
      YDP163 = KDP110 = RP102

      • +1

Thanks for summing it up and thanks OP. Digital pianos aren't cheap in Darwin. Delivery kills most of the deals for us. So finally pulled the plug and picked it from local JBH for my 10 year old who's grown out of the Casio LK-130. Was able to get it down to $765.60 using 5% off e-gift cards (from Flare).

  • +1

For any beginners like myself, Synthesia is a good app to download and connect your device (laptop/tablet) to this via USB.

  • +1

Thanks OP!! Bought one! Been looking for digital piano quite sometime and this is great bargain!

  • +1

Thanks again, managed to get jb cards 5% off through entertainment book. It’s maybe possible anyone can.

Also noticed someone is selling this code for $30 on eBay.

  • just me or has the price reverted back to $998? ah apply code, i see. C&C not available in Victoria :(

  • Not happy jan.
I bought the $800 in gift cards and now JB have cancelled my order.
    Have revoked my positive vote.
No stock showing for click and collect either.

    • What was the reason why they cancelled your order?

Mine was delivered first thing this morning.

      • No reason given just:

Unfortunately, your order JB123456 has not passed our verification process so it has been cancelled.

I have a suspicion they didn’t want to honour the delivery fee of $10 as when I went to try again the delivery fee has increased to $45.

        We’ll see what happens now.

      • Annnnd they’ve cancelled my second order.
I’m probably going to ask for a refund on my gift cards but I don’t like my chances.

      • Final update, after I fired off my email to JB for a refund on the gift cards I checked the website.
Click and collect was now available.
Oxley showed as having stock available.
Went for a drive to Oxley, salesman said yep we’ve got those in stock. $55.00 for delivery on Monday.
Done deal, went to the checkout and the girl typed in the code above got the $200 off.
Used up my gift cards and missus has a piano!
They don’t make things easy, that’s for sure.
So I highly recommend people ring around and go in store to get the deal!
Lesson learned for me is the 5% discount on gift cards worth the hassle if things go pear shaped?

  • Ordered one.. BUT they've change delivery to $45 (from $9.95). And removed click and collect. Looks like they only deliver to metro areas. I consider my location metro being 1hr from one of the big 2 capitals, but they don't agree!

    • The box is pretty big. Had to pick it in a trailer as it won't fit in my small Corolla sedan. $45 is actually not bad.

      • Oh no! I had to get it delivered to my in-laws! Hopefully will fit in a station wagon with the back seats down!

Might see if I can have the delivery changed now that the order is in. Unless they drop ship, then I'm stuffed.

        • The parts were actually packed/wrapped pretty well, if you don't mind taking all the parts out of the box it will easily fit most sedan/station wagon.

        • @imolared:

I emailed customer support and they've been kind enough to redirect it to my home. Happy with that and their support. Saves me carting it around, and saves the in-laws dealing with it.

  • +3

I've only ever played an acoustic piano but wanting to get a digital piano for some time now, so I had to check out the AP260 piano in person.

I only had a chance to play for a bit in store today but noticed the postage has gone up from $10 to $45. Argh…..
Still happy with the price but would have been better with $10 postage.

Some thoughts after playing the piano: (Note I'm not a musician or professional player but a casual player so take with a pinch of salt please)

    Good:
The keyboard is not a synthetic ivory but a synthetic ebony, which feels pretty solid.
The weighted key adds a nice touch to the playing.
The sensor picks up the speed and intensity of key action quite well.
The full-size pedal gives confident action but the effect seems mediocre.
The concert piano sound quality is not too bad.

    Bad:
Sound kinda fizzes out rather than provide a shade of diminishing tones when the key is released.

    Final thought:
If you are after an acoustic piano but can't get one due to space, weight, can't play at night and budget then this one is definitely one to consider.

So with that said, thank you OP! I've ordered one :)

  • +1

Assembled mine yesterday, better than expected overall

  • Hello, to those that have bought this, hows the inbuilt speakers on it?

    • +1

2-8 watt speakers which is fine for me. I usually have it set to 1/3 the volume. The good thing about this model is that it has dual outputs so you can connect headsets/headphones during those times where you don't want to annoy other people in the house or your neighbors specially late at night.

      • Thanks :) yeah this is only going into the lounge room. I tried a few of the 'cheaper' models and was content with the sound so hopefully this will be even better. I love the sound it makes when its connected!

Looked awesome when I went in store, solid finish and build - keys had a nice feel to it and not too light.

  • anyone got order status update from jb yet? Mine still showing in progress.

    • I picked up on the next day… it was showing in stock at my local store when I ordered.

    • I'm still waiting too.

    • Got an email this afternoon that it has been shipped.
