    it is $788 plus delivery.

    • oops, will sort that out now thanks!!

    +$49 delivery for most cities.

    • hmmm… quite a bulky item, maybe that's why the $$

      • not really as comes flat pack so or you need is an SUV or wagon, but if you don't have one then the $$ is reasonable.

        • Flat pack? Are you sure? Then how difficult to put it together?

        • @Saturday: got one last year (same price), C&C, could fit the box in a 2015 Mazda 3 hatch. It's not a flat pack but small enough. The unit is pre-assembled and you only need to assemble the base (<10 min) and put the unit on top and fix it.

        • @Navgsc: Thanks Navgsc. This time it seems no C&C option. I will be happy to pay for the delivery and knowing it is easy to assemble is assuring ;p

          @Saturday:

Yeah it's pretty easy to assemble if you have two people.

Highly recommend the casios, they're brilliant for the price!

@montorola: Thanks for sharing your experience montorola :-)

  • It's almost to the day JB had this offer last year. I ended up getting the AP260 as some suggested at the time.

A lot of fun for tinkerers.

  • Does anyone know what is the difference between ap260 and ap250?

    • +18

      10

    • I was trying to find out the same thing last week. Seems like the 260 is a fairly minor update.
The only differences I noticed were a slight change to the tones (dropped one bass tone, added another elec piano) and the addition of concert play orchestra recordings. Guessing there must be some other behind the scenes improvements, but nothing that warrants the extra $ on a 260.

Not sure why JB's has so many of these old models though. The CDP-120 they sell was discontinued a while ago also.

      • Thank you. That's what I'm thinking about $300 savings if I buy the ap250 instead is ap260

  • Does it come with the stand and stool or is the image inaccurate? Stand is $130 and stool is like $80

Just looked closer and its actually all one piece so I guess the stand is included.. nice price for an 88 key casio

    • +3

Yep, stand and stool are included.

  • Do their emails possibly take some time to distribute? I'm registered for instant deals and have not received this one…

  • What's the benefit and negative of digital keyboard over traditional ones?

    • +1

Well the most obvious is no tuning required.
Usually more portable, and being digital you're not limited to a single piano tone. You also open up the world of MIDI.

The distinction should be made that this is a digital piano, not a keyboard. The keys are weighted to feel like an acoustic piano.

    • No need to tune?

      • Unlike traditional pianos where you have physical strings that will require re-tuning over time.

  • anyone know how this compares to the Yamaha DGX-530 that Costco is selling for $649?

    • Quick look says to me would be better to compare that against the Casio CDP-230.

      • thanks bamzero

    • +3

Just had a quick look: the DGX-530 doesn't even have graded hammer action. It also only has 32-notes of polyphony which is very low (compared with 128 on the Casio). Seems like more of a keyboard too me. The Casio is a proper faux-piano. Less bells and whistles. Can't comment on the sound. Different league IMHO.

      • Thanks MissKitty :-)

  • A couple of users reported a thud of each note played on Amazon and Costco, any comments on that?

    • +1

they are weighted keys - person who commented probably expected a light plastic electronic keyboard feeling

don't expect the keys to be quiet just because the volume is turned down - the "hammer" action in keys still need to move

wonder where they got new old stock of these… model must be 4-5 years old now

bought the replacement AP260BK model two years ago for $1000

    EDIT: fl8- add this for a 5% cashback -> http://www.soundtechnology.com.au/backtoschool

    • Sweet! Thanks mate

      • no worries - AP250 is a nice DP but still worthwhile to hit up your local music places for a good deal on a AP260 if your budget allows (ignore their $1500 RRP)

        • Any chance the store you bought from was from Perth? Because the cheapest I got around this area was $1199

        • @cmkyan11: nah - eastern coast

in that case - try a 10% off eBay coupon (CAU10) on something like http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Casio-AP-260-88-Key-Digital-Piano… to get it delivered for $1079

though I can understand buying local would be more convenient - get haggling :D

        • @HeXa: thanks :)

        • @HeXa: thanks for helpping out above (re thud)!
I made an offer for a korg to this store, they gave me a counter offer of the orginal price, a $0 discount.

Now i like the 250 better, even the speakers are a bit on the small side.

    • Added, thanks much HeXa!
