I Am after a Robot for My 5 Years Old

I am after a robot buddy for my 5 years old. Most of my Chinese friends got a little robot buddy for their children, which can read stories, sing a song, call parents on videos calls, do maths ect.

I have a look on taobao. They are so many from 60 dollars to 500 dollars which has chinese primary school classes in.

Not sure which one should I get? Anyone got any suggestions please?

Which ones do your Chinese friends have?

Read stories, sing a song & do math is what a parent should be spending time with their children doing.

    • No silly, that's what iPads are for. New-age parenting 101.

Your toddler doesn't need an iPad lol

I would beg to differ, OzBargain parenting clearly dictates iPads for toddlers. Emotional connection is no substitute for wifi connection, and peek-a-boo has nothing on a touch screen retina display.

          Oh, and here

        • @airal3rt: If you don't buy them an iPad they'll be "left behind", a fate that is apparently worse than having the internet and all the "dangers" that has.

Last time I heard children needed a good Mum and Dad, friends and love, lot's of love….

And someone to tell them that there's no apostrophe in lots ;)

Apologises for the catastrophe. Oh Lord, please forgive me.

        • Well, it is grammatically correct to say " Adam's ". And " lot " is a real-name, its even in the Bible.

    OP, get R2D2.

    • But you also need to get a C3PO to decipher what R2 is talking about. But you don't want to get a C3PO — that thing is noisy and talks too much.

      • (Insert Taco girl) Why don't OP have both?

Talkative noisy robot, perfect for 5 yo.

    Get the AWESOME-O.

"500 dollars which has Chinese primary school classes in."
@OP do you want to have a toy teach your child in Chinese or to a Chinese school curriculum?

I thought we were in Australia and spoke English in our primary schools multiculturalism strikes again it seems :)

    • The Chinese school curriculum absolutely beats the sh*t out of Australia's. As in literally - Chinese kindergarten level maths is Australian Year 4 maths. No wonder we're losing in terms of STEM subjects and grads.

We're losing in education because teachers can't teach anymore. All they do is hand a kid a tablet and let Google teach, they have become class facilitators not educators ?

And if you rave about China being so great what are you doing wasting your life hear in OZ. If you choose to live in a country at least don't bag it

Did you only want certain parts of the parenting life?

And so I ask you this one question. Have you ever tried simply turning off the TV, sitting down with your children, and hitting them?
