[PC/PS4/XB1] Middle-Earth: Shadow of War $20 @ EB Games

1570

Tomorrow's end of year deal at EB Games, seems like a good one!

Description:

"In the fires of Mount Doom a Ranger, and a Wraith, bound together in death crafted the one thing that could challenge Sauron. A Ring of Power. But power, can blind those who seek it. The War for Mordor begins."

Developed by Monolith Productions - creators of Shadow of Mordor - the game will once again feature an original story in the Middle-earth universe, and will see the return of Talion and his ghostly companion Celebrimbor.

Talion now wields a new Ring of Power and will confront the deadliest enemies including Sauron and his Nazgul, in a monumental battle for Middle-Earth. The game will feature and expanded Nemesis system which will not only shape those around you but the very world itself.

As always, enjoy!

$29.29 for the digital version that plays on XB1/PC, for those who don't want another disc :)

    • $27.83 after 5% code.

      • Yeah I was meaning to work that out lol

        • It's cheaper to get it through cdkeys after 5% then to get it delivered ($27.95).

        • +8

@chibot: free shipping using the code HOTDEALS

        • @ZeroHarmony:

Are you sure that code will work? It did for me with Wolfenstein II but didn't with Assassins Creed Origins. The delivery, both standard and express was $9 and I felt that was too much.

        • @davedrastic: Actually you're right, l just checked to make sure as l haven't used the code before and doesn't work for me either. It was meant to work for every hit deal going by the email

        • @ZeroHarmony: Sounds like it could be an error - if so maybe it will be fixed tomorrow. I guess that $9 for standard isn't quite right too. I think I read someone say it should be $4, and i'd be cool with that.

Still, i'm happy with Wolfenstein II for $10 if that's all I get to snag

        • @davedrastic: only thing l can think of is that it's only free shipping from their warehouse as shipping is usually $9+ when it's shipped from one of their stores

        • @davedrastic: worked for me today? I check out as guest.

        • @davedrastic: Someone on the wolfenstein deal said that the shipping price depends on the source - if it's store stock it's $9, if it's warehouse-sealed stock it's $4.

        • @ZeroHarmony:
Funny, HOTDEALS worked for me on PS4 version but my mate could not get it to work on XB version (he has not bought anything from EB)
I was logged in, not sure if that made a difference.

    • +1

Greenman gaming has it for 16.37 usd // 22 aud

    • A real OzBargainer would prefer having a physical copy to sell after it's been played.

    • When you go to the PC version it says it's a digital copy with no disc provided and is in-store only so no shipping added.

  • +15

    And now with no microtransactions!

    • Terrible loss!

  • +7

Was hoping / dreaming for $15 or $10.

    • Yeah me too. After having Wolfenstein II at $10, I was hoping for the same. I mean who cares if I will play the game, it's a bargain so must buy it!

    • +1

I got it off amazon with the $10 prime voucher for $14. But yeah. Was thinking maybe $15 deal but was higher change the eb sale was gonna be $20

  • Hmm, Steam is offering it for $20.40 USD ($27.46 AUD) according to XE. Not sure what Steam exchange rates are unfortunately.

But I think more importantly if you are purchasing it, then Steam has the best offer for the Gold Edition (All 4 DLCs and 1 gold chest) for $34 USD ($45 AUD).

    • +9

True, but at $20 I go yeah, $45 I go nah

    • PC version could be Steam code + disc.

  • +1

    Demo is now available too

  • +1

How much do you guys reckon God of War will go for? $30?

    • One can hope.

    • +2

$40 at the cheapest IMO just considering that Shadow of War is only $20, has been out a lot longer and is less in demand.

    • I've seen $55 mentioned elsewhere

    • -8

Hopefully, you guys can get God of War for $20 or lower.

I got mine for $16.05 due to a couple of transaction issues with my Amazon AU order (resulted in my $20 off voucher being applied twice by accident by the CSR - $40 off basically). I had to wait 2 weeks for mine to be delivered though. My best game purchase of the year so far (better than the $10 Wolf 2 purchase - sorry God of War is just way better).

Anything above $36.05 isn't strictly better than the Amazon AU deal (though a $20 welcome voucher had to be used to get that deal).

      • +2

Amazon was never $36, even with the $20. That’s a complete misrepresentation given that had a $79 min spend meaning you must have purchased additional items.

  • +5

The Gold Edition is $36 at EB so if you plan on playing the dlc you might as well buy that. Link: https://ebgames.com.au/ps4-225516-Middle-Earth-Shadow-of-War…

    • Is the DLC worth it?
Never played either of the titles but have been tracking for a deal and will pull the trigger on this most likely.

  • +1

I've been hanging out to get this since it came out, at $20 I can't say no! (I've had other stuff to play and didn't think it was worth buying for ~$30-$50 to just have it sit on my pile of other unplayed games).

  • Too rich for my blood.

  • GreenManGaming has it cheaper, for the standard. Or it's about 28USD for the Gold edition from Gamersgate, which I personally bought.

    • +7

GMG is $16.37 USD / $22.03 AUD. Doesn't seem cheaper to me?

      • If you can't click and collect, it'll be cheaper going with GMG for PC assuming that free shipping code doesn't work anymore.

    • gamersgate is showing $117 for Gold edition…

  • -2

$20 is not worth a disappointing sequel with micro-transactions. $10 like Wolfenstein 2 and I'll bite.

    • +17

      Micro transactions are gone

    • +2

It was pretty well received too.

      • +2

It definitely is better than the original even though its more of the same with improved mechanics. Love that its a lot easier to move around the map on foot now

        • Do you need to play the first one for backstory or ok to jump into this head first?

        • Answered below. All ok.

  • -1

After the monumental $10 Wolf deal, I simply find this price outrageous

    • +6

It's still the lowest so far. The OP deserves a + for posting this early for people wanting this game.

Pity my pile of shame is tall and Wolf II just got added to that pile. Must resist adding more games to it.

  • +5

$10 for Wolf, $39 for GoW, $20 for Origins, and now $20 for Shadow of War. 4 new games for the price of 1. It’s gonna be a busy few months.

  • Is Witcher 3 part of the deal? pls plspls

    • No.

    • +3

Witcher has consistently been at prices around $20

  • -2

    $23.99 with Amazon Prime delivered

    xbox

    • +1

So are you saying $24 is better than $20?

      • EB price isn't inclusive of delivery and some of us still have the free Amazon credit to use.

      • For a person still have the $10 voucher which is due to expire on 27/07, the person could potentially use it and make it $14 with the Amazon AU Prime option ($24 delivered - $10 voucher stream 1 movie = $14).

        • My Amazon voucher for watching a stream expires Aug 30th

        • :( I haven't got my voucher. Wonder if its because my account was originally an amazon us prime and I watched a tonne of prime videos.

  • how similar is this game to shadow of mordor?

    • -2

      They are both video games.

    • +1

its a new story but you get the summary of the first one at the beginning, improved difficulty system. its a more complete experience than the first one.

  • -7

This game worth $5 graphics looks ugly, gameplay boring af and disgusting controls and character animations

  • How much will the Xbox one s go for on Sunday if you were to guess guys?

    • Maybe $200 for a bundle? I cant see them giving them away for nothing though and more than likely will only have like 2 or 3 in stock at most places, thinking that one might be In store only.

      • Yeh I was hoping that sort of price, will probably wake up and drive to my local store for when it opens in that case

  • do amazon price match?

    • -1

      They Do not :P

      • +1
        • +1

          Not wrong.
If you chat with them and ask them to price match.. they won't do it.
if they change their website price that is a different story.

        • +1

          @jimbobaus:

Thats still a price match as they are lowering their price to match that of a competitor.

It's more of an automatic/system price match rather than a personal one on one.

        • @prxy: Thanks prxy. So tempted to get it for $10. Not sure which version to get though… XB1 or PS4… Also, trying to resist coz my pile of shame is growing too quickly due to inability to resist deals posted on OZB.

        • @netsurfer:

Just got PS4 Pro from Prime Day sales so i'm going crazy stocking up a games library.

Don't forget about cashrewards/shopback for further savings and free prime delivery.

  • +1

waiting to see if people plan to resell these unopened to make a profit, thanks on the share. shame there's no sales on the new crash bandicoot game.

    • +1

I'm also waiting for a Crash Bandicoot sale…

  • -2

Avoid this game, didn't get much better than Shadow of Mordor.
    Way too repetitive;

Kill X Captain, on the way, you get Ambushed by 1 more - you kill both
Next area, go and kill X Captain, on the way, get ambushed by the previous one you killed whose escaped death…go on…
Wipe the entire area of captains, you then realise new ones have been recruited, on the way to next map area you get ambushed again (rinse & repeat)

  • so the hotdeals coupon code is not active anymore?

    • Didn't work for me, though the shipping has been fixed from $9 last night to $3.50 today

      • Coupon didn't work for me either, but lucky the click and collect worked like a treat, ready for collection in under 15 mins, couldn't complain there.

  • Fun game, sucks you in, enjoy the grind, it's real, but then make a mad dash to the end to get your life back. At least that was my response.

  • I quite liked Shadow of Mordor on PC. I have never been much of a console gamer and I find playing FPS on console PAINFUL. while this game doesnt have an FPS view, aiming with the bow requires quick, zoomed in, accurate aims which I just cant manage on a controller joysick. One of the main reasons I stick to PC gaming :(

I'm on the fence thinking if I should buy this or just get the PC version from CDkeys

      • I got a PS4 Pro in the recent Amazon sale.. Trying to make it a worthwhile purchase by getting good game titles to play on it.. hence the dilemma :(

        • If you intend to keep this game long term, then pick the version you believe you will enjoy the game the most (i.e. PC version).

If you would like to sell the game after playing it, then get the PS4 or the XB1 version. It is also a dilemma for me for games these days, prefer PC version but a lot of them I know I don't want to keep in the long run.

  • +1

Repetitious game just like Assassins Creed. Skipping both.

  • +1

No time to play but bought it. Thanks OP

  • $20 on Amazon now.

Be sure to use your $10 primevideo credit too, to drop the final price to $10

  • +1

Bought the normal PC edition and it came with a Gold Edition code. Is that normal?

    • Are you sure?

About to pick up mine as well

So the casing is standard, but the steam code is gold edition? lucky!!

      • How did you do?

  • Picked up the last PS4 copy from Brisbane Myer. Thanks OP.

  • +1

Bought a copy online. $3.50 for postage isn't bad at all.
Would've been good if the Amazon deal had the pc version but ah well.
Now I've got to the add this to the list of games I need to finish:

    1. Witcher 3
    2. Civ 6
    3. Wolfenstein
    4. Shadow of War
    • Can you really ever finish Civ 6?

  • Hey OP, the link states Tuesday 31st July, not tomorrow. You may want to correct that.

    • The overall end of year sale ends on 31 July, there's a one day deal for certain items each day until then :)

      • Oh that's confusing, thanks for pointing it out :)
