  • For more details this is an N-150 modem router. From what I remember price wise it's very cheap as you'd normally pay about this price for just the router. Also, $10 shipping isn't too bad. The better option though is going a step up to an N300 modem router for $105: http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&bid…

    • i find belkin equipment, in general, to be very disappointing.

    kind of off-topic-ish, but…..
I have an xbox and a sony blu ray in a room quite a way from my current modem, (which is fine), and I connect the two with a big long cable through the house…. would I be able to use this to somehow connect the two wirelessly? ie via ethernet cable from xbox to this router, and lose the long cable.
If not, any other suggestions that would be cheaper than buying the individual dongles? both of which are proprietary, and expensive….. (in quite simple terms, if that's possible…..I'm not a tech-head)
    :)

    • I too would like to know. I have a Belkin N 300 wireless modem router and I wanna connect my 360 from my bedroom to it wirelessly, Will this do it for me or do I have to buy a XBOX Wireless adaptor?

you need a wireless router with bridge capabilities
      cheapest options :

      ASUS WL-520GC (with dd-wrt firmware)
      TP-Link TL-WA501G

If you want a wifi-n option, just look for one that supports bridging mode

    • why not use Power over ethernet. Its basically 2 items that you plug into the wall at each end, connect the item via ethernet to them and there is a invisible connection through your powerlines.

      • can you give some details pls? dont really understand.

      • why not use Power over ethernet

the ones I've seen have been quite expensive…

  • ok so this one wont work, the name kinda says it will but I thought nothing is that easy :(

Almost voted neg on this as there was so little detail on what you get for your $89. Description is awful - cut & paste. VERY lazy post - wierd to advertise operating temperature rangge but not tell us what this can do.

    Better title: "$79 Belkin 4port ADSL2+ modem w 802.11N; USB print & data serving +$10 p&h"

    Key elements:
ADSL2+ modem (apparently no annexe M)
802.11n wireless router (may not support bridege mode to extend an existing wireless network)
    4 port RJ-45 switch
    USB print server
USB data server (directly plug-in external harddrive (formats supported Fat 16/32 or NTFS) - may need external power (i.e non-USB powered)
    VPN support: IPsec passthrough

On reflection I have decided to vote negative - because this was posted by a rep. The negative is for the posting rather than for whether or not this is a good product at a good price. From reading the posting I can't even tell whether this is a 3G wireless modem? or a ADSL modem with 802.11x WiFi? Given that this has been posted by a rep who is expected to know the difference this is unacceptable. If reps are going to use OzB they need to make a minimal descriptive effort in their posting. Cutting and pasting the frequency and the humidity operating range, but not telling us that this is also a print-server in the description is totally pathetic.

An example of the laziness: Shipping is $10 - why not write that or "$10 P&H" in the title instead of "+ Shipment".

[I am clear that I am pushing the limits of what is allowable for neg votes on OzB - however I think we need to hold reps accountable to a higher standard for the free advertising channel that OzB can be for them. Please don't add more negs for the same reason! Rather, if you agree with my criticism of the posting then give a +ve to my first comment above. Also, if you agree that reps need to be held accountable to a higher standard then give a +ve vote to this comment.]

Below is the posting as it stands at the moment - which I copy so we can compare it to what will hopefully be improving edits from the OP.

NB: This may be an excellent bargain - but it is a lousey posting - and coming from a rep that's not good enough.

      • Good on you sw. I only read this because he said it was a wireless modem. Since when was ADSL wireless?

      • Excellent post - I don't really read the rest of what the rep wrote in this post - but you may have forgotten what OZBargain is all about - a discounted price of $79 is excellent value comparing RRP of $200 and much better than local distributor sells to reseller at lousy price of $135.

I've ordered 4 units of this products as a test as it's first time to buy from Lapy King.

Excellent checkout, it specifies the minimum and maximum postage and it accept express checkout with PayPal so I don't have to register with the site.

Even at $30 postage cost for courier is still good price overall. The cheapest we can get for this item was from Wireless1 around 1 month ago at $99.

        Great work.

    • also belkin adsl modems don't seem to get along very happily with tpg.
