as title states. I will answer it to the best of my abilities.
[AMA] Ask a CBA employee anything
closed Comments
worst AMA.. all the questions the OP either won't answer or can't answer.. a bit of background would help..what do you do at CBA. retail/commercial? PB? HR? cleaner?
I'm in retail Xbai, most of the questions here are basically wanting financial advice, and instead of calling or going into the branch are asking an avatar-less user on ozbargain.. that's why i'm not answering them.
I think its alright ~ better than nothing ~
He's in retail - Not home loans ~ Not on the board handling the commission..
Maybe it's me, but I don't think AMA's are meant to answer everything with the company
Looking to refinance
What's the highest discount CBA could offer on a property investment loan? Heard from a friend that he managed to get 1.65% off on a $600k loan. Presumably discount could be higher on a $1m+ loan? Assume credit ratings excellent with a flawless track-record in making payments.
It isn't about the discount, it is about the home loan rate you end up with.
I could tell you I get 2% off at NAB/ANZ etc. but where the starting point of the discount is counts. Everyone can get over 1.00% discount by not even trying, 1.30% doesn't sound earth shattering.
depends when you ask. some months they're more generous than others.
you can also try calling up to get a discharge form, and say you saw xxx offer with another bank.
every time i walk into a cba staff try to push the netbank app for phone, i always ask if they have any idea/advice on android devices and security. always the same response of no its just my job. I love the staff trying to push the older generation into using an app (while they are standing in a queue for the one teller while 2 or 3 other staff cruise up and down the queue with advice on using a atm or app instead of using the teller for a transaction) on a handset they struggle to make phone calls on. do you push the same app on all who attend a branch and if so do you ever feel you may be pushing a product onto people that really don't have an understanding of the secrurity issues involved with and android device?
The reason why we push the netbank app is because we try to make life easier for you, and us. You can basically do 99% of everything you can do at the branch, on the app. It's a small learning curve, but honestly is not that difficult and I've spoken to many elderly people who love the app and thank us for teaching them how to use it.
In regards to security, the tellers and phone staff have no clue what type of security encryption or technical jargon the netbank app uses, all we know is that it's secure. 100% of the time customers explain to me their netbanking has been compromised, is because of their own stupidity in getting scammed.
How many years until they make you redundant, and replace you with a younger version of yourself on 60% of your salary?
If he is working in the retail bank, most likely 10-15 years until it is all automated.
Do tellers have targets to meet with selling things like insurance etc -
or is it just a bonus they get? With the removal of the AMEX cards, will CBA reduce the wealth package costs?
Is it true CBA employees often earn 20% - 40% above the market rate for their respective positions?
What's your view on the new redraw rules and maybe some advice on what we/I should do, my redraw is currently $109K with 23 years left
Are CBA going to put up their interest rates to P&I customers or are they going to reduce term deposit rates to make up for the extra funding costs going on in the domestic market?
