Audible Australia - for Existing Members - Three Months Half Price Subscription or Free Credit

90

Hello all,

Whilst looking to see if I could cancel my membership to take advantage of the 3 month free trial for prime users I came across a great feature - if you cancel, they try to keep you.

When cancelling (after making sure you have no credits left), say "too expensive", confirm and you are then offered three choices:

  1. Continue your membership at $8/month
  2. Pause your membership
  3. Get a free ebook credit

The $8/month option is the best value and the one I've gone for.

  • Read about that in the unethical lifeprotips subreddit, but never got it to work. (the free credit thing that is)

I had the subscription for 2 months paid and when i tried, none of the buttons actually worked bar the cancel subscription button.

I haven't been paying much of their full price for the last 2 years of my subscription. When you try to cancel your subscription for the first time they'll offer you a discount (half price or somewhere there) for a few months. Sometimes they'll give you a $20 credit. You'll just need to keep unsubscribing every time after the discount and I haven't had once failed to get another discount. My last one I had to actually unsubscribe and waited for a month or so before they send me another offer. Only thing is to keep track on when the discount finishes so don't get charged with full price like what I've done for a few times.

  • The one thing to remember is you lose any existing credits when you unsubscribe (IE when they jack the price back up and you want another discount.)
I got three credits I need to burn before they start charging me again next month -_-

    • You can pause your subscription if you want

  • Just did this on my US Amazon Audible account. Thanks for the hot tip :D

  • I just don't understand Audible - it's like one of those things that should have been a fad for 5 minutes and died out like 3D TVs, yet it's still popular…I suppose advertising on practically every YouTuber's videos really works!

    • I'm a full time driver, on the road anywhere between 8-12 hrs a day. Instead of listening to radio or music. Audio books are a great choice to keep myself entertained :)

I do the same. During one thrilling chapter of Gallipoli by FitzSimons I missed a freeway turn off, added 20 minutes to my trip
        … worth it :)

      • See, I prefer podcasts, I suppose.

I mean, were you a driver when books on tape/CD was a thing? Did you used to do the same?
