Yep. Don't go to Korean Chicken restaurants that are popular in Korea.
Go to the ones that aren't popular in Korea.
It's weird but Korean business owners are huge abusers of the system and want as much profits as possible, they scale to their environment extremely well.
Yeah at $23, you're better off just going to a decent restaurant even if it was actually large pieces of chicken.
I really like this place. They have a deal with Liven too, so you get 15% of your purchase back. This should stack with the B1G1F.
Not necessarily true…unless you've asked? As usual, this one says '* Offer not valid in conjunction with any other vouchers, offers and promotions' and some merchants consider Liven a promotion. Good idea to give it a try anyway but may not necessarily work.
Lol as being Korean, funny to watch some Korean fried chicken company is coming here
Nene has been here for a while. Funny when I saw Do Dream Chicken. Never heard of it in Korea.
The chicken chain franchises in Korea aren't that good compared to the non franchise.
Realllyyy did not even know that.
True true, god I miss having fried chicken in Korea. Not that I wanna go back ;p
I'm hoping they bring Isaac Toast to Australia. Not chicken related, but it's an OzBargain breakfast - cheap and delicious
@merc:
Wow we have tons of Korean here.
Why not just importing Kimbab heaven lol@merc: Won't happen. It would have happened already if it could. Only way they can make money is underpaying their workers as well as overcharging customers.
Isaac doesn't over charge.
Breakfast in Aus cities can cost like $10 for a average sandwich.
Where is Kyochon with their rice bubble fried chicken though?
Need kyoncheon here!
I just wish they would bring Kyochon here, I miss it! Seems there was one in Brisbane but it closed down.
entertainment book also have :)
They do? Not in Sydney? Or am I blind
Oh not sure abt that. Only Melbourne book i have got
Beautiful chicken, highly overpriced.
I love their snowing cheese chicken. So weird, so good.
Is it in Melbourne only? not Sydney? I miss 굽네치킨 thou.
호식이 is the best lol
Only Chad too
why nene nor nana, i miss nana chicken… oh wait.. never got to see my nana anyway..
If you are in Sydney, try Beschico (Epping). The best Korean chicken & Beer place.
Too farrrrrr
Hot tip here, there's a kfc shop inside strathfield sports club… Shop is nothing to look at but food is soooo good.
Ah classic Red Pepper, so damn good.
Sounds like we gotta gather to ozbargain those kfc
So. Beschico are the second best fried chicken shop in Epping out of the two that are there. Beschico do however have Thai staff and menu so they do have some tasty options.
Incredible chicken is the best in Sydney by far. It is also the best beer and chicken. Strathfield tennis, Eastwood and Rhodes.
I friggin love Nene Chicken
How is Nene pronounced? Neen? Ney-ney? Nenny?
Ne-ne
Watch me whip! Now watch me Nene!
It's closest to "neh-Neh/nay-nay" I guess. It's the Korean word for Yes.. yes-yes chicken!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHWW2RA8CmU at 13 seconds you can hear :D
Are there any good restaurants/takeaways for Korean chicken in Melbourne?
Mook Ji Bar on Latrobe - Their spicy chicken is legit badass
Gami fried chicken is pretty good I reckon. 4 fingers is ok for something a little different. I also love the ones at Belles Hot Chicken but this is more Southern style. If you like fried chicken the fried chicken burger at Journeyman (Windsor/Prahran) is what I had on my first date with my fiance and look what happened there….
I spent 2 weeks in Korea in 2010 and I don't even remember having fried chicken there:(
I like the chicken at caveman1961 in Glen Waverley. They used to be called "Meega" and were a super popular hidden gem inside the back of a korean supermarket. The owners of the supermarket kicked them out and started making their own chicken and claiming to be the same people.. super dodgy.
The service can be a little iffy when it's busy and it's not the cheapest for how big the pieces are, but it's amazing chicken and the staff are really lovely!
nene chicken is under ST GROUP same as papparich, gongcha, idarts and hokkaido to name a few.

Wow, literally all of their food chains are at macquarie centre
says redeemable once per person. Does that mean you have to hand in a voucher or scan a barcode?
Fairly sure NENE is slang for breasts in Chinese
Tits tits chicken?
who's getting chicken tonight ???
Not you obviously
How many pieces of chicken in a serve of regular classic chicken?
It varies a bit based on size/part quality. Most chicken in Aus I've had was of … "okay" quality to what I expected. Chicken is so cheap here.
I'd guesstimate Nene gives about 8/9 fair sized chicken portions. Imagine a KFC bucket with about 10 pieces. It's big enough for 2 people usually.
I could be completely off. Per $10, expect about 6 pieces.
I called and they said regular = 4 pieces of chicken
Got 4 packs between my group, each pack had 5 pieces - enough for one, but not more than one.
The burger looks very thin and tall, like it would be hard to fit inside your mouth. It's a strange look.
They don't have prices on their site. How much is the classic chicken?
There's a takeaway menu with prices - I see both items at $10.95.
Is this valid for Melbourne CBD Locations as well?
It does say any store, I might try the Box Hill store tomorrow, but it's damn expensive compare to Kyochon.
NeNe might suffer the same fate as Kyochon which had to close stores due to losses. RIP Kyochon NYC, loved that store regardless of the poor reviews.
Don't know how Box Hill survives with a cheaper food court 50m from them.
Any good Korean Restaurants in Brisbane?
Not Maru. That place sucks.
Sunnybank would.
THere's a place behind the McDonalds in Queen St that is decent. It's hidden hah. It's called Funny Funny.
The Journey is good.
Brisbane is absolutely packed with Koreans, so the food is not that bad. But definitely much worse than Korea somehow.
Thanks man, the menu of Funny Funny looks good, the pork intestine looks interesting, haven't tried before.
Funny you say that. That's the last thing I ate there a few weeks ago.
It wasn't good there though. It tasted so bad, the cooker you get to cook it with doesn't do a great job either.
Definitely stick to Gopchang in Korea, not here. Even though here it should be insanely cheap, what with no one wanting it.
I like warawara in the city. Order the chicken pieces. Sauce is to die for. Ask for teriyaki sauce. Mix with asian mayo
For general Korean food Mapo in Sunnybank is popular. For a good value weekday lunch feed Hanwoori (CBD) has an AYCE buffet for $14.90 - good variety of food and seems to get a decent crowd of Koreans from the few times I've been there.
For KFC I personally like:
- Momo (Runcorn/CBD)
- 88 Topokki (Sunnybank Hills) - their deal of 10 pieces for $9.80 is pretty good value
- Chi Mc (CBD) also seems to be good… I've only been there once not long after they first opened and thought it was a bit exxy, so don't have recent opinion but have been hearing good things from others
and for chicken wings done in KFC style with with non-typical Korean sauces:
- Seoul Bistro (Sunnybank)
- KaiKai Chicken (St Lucia)
They ran out of Classic Chicken at the Chadstone store so we ordered the burgers. First time in my life I had burger with cold buns. Happy to have tried it but will not be ordering the burgers from NeNe again.
Went to their Brisbane CBD store today and was told there was a 30 min wait, so just left, didn't seem like they planned too well for the demand.
Huge wait at Box Hill VIC, I didn't even bother given the line.
I would like to take the opportunity to say that I think this chain is pretty expensive. I ordered a large serving of chicken pieces at the macquarie NSW store and it was only 10 (small) pieces - so expensive for the price of like $23
