Ooooh, what will Bunnings do with Ozito to compete?! Popcorn time :) I'm keen to get more $40 4Ah Ozito Batteries but I've always eyed off the Ozito Inflator too. Hmmmm.

    • I have the Ozito set but I don't think Bunning will match the impact wrench price or even come close, to be honest. I may pick up the Aldi impact wrench, air compressor, and the hammer drill with one of the Aldi 4ah batteries whcih will be good for a few specific jobs. But as you said who knows what Bunnings will do.

      • I never bought the Ozito set but have purchased tools as required during my major reno work and love it all. Some tools have their downsides but overall just such good gear, stupidly cheap and the best, hassle-free warranty around so nothing else comes close for my needs. Pretty sure Bunnings will drop the price of their 4Ah Batteries as that's what they've done in the past. I don't really need anything else but hey at these prices it's more a case of buy now, figure it out later ;)

I'm the same, have 2x 4ah battery now plus 2x 3ah and 1x 2ah. I've moved most of the garden tools over to Ozito include a mower. Hadn't planned on getting it but saw it on gumtree for $80 and couldn't pass it up for that (mainly for the batteries). Now I use it all the time it super and does a normal size garden two or thee time on a single change.

        • @paulj13: Been tempted to get a mower but they just look so crappy… plus the yard is basically a construction site at the moment so kinda pointless anyway :) Good to hear they work OK though.

        • @paulj13:

Does it mow the grass ok? When you say on a single charge is it on the 4ah battery alone or am I dreaming?

        • +2

@tighytighty: Uses two 3ah batteries side by side. Really good at cutting the grass. metal blade and everything. Good size grass box. I don't use the petrol mower anymore now.

@paulj13: This is the one I have https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-power-x-change-18v-cordles… $399 is a lot and once again I got my one second hand.

      • I think they will price match the impact wrench as they are selling the brushless impact wrench skin for $99. That's not far off from Aldi's $79

  • was hoping to see a set of brushless tools this time :)

    • They have one brushless drill that's it this time.

  • Has anyone got the Ozito Hammer drill? https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-power-x-change-18v-compact…

Is it sturdy enough to go through brick? And how about the angle grinder?

    • +2

I got the Ozito hammer drill - the $129 one. I was able to get rid of some fairly solid pebblecrete and a brick BBQ with the hammer bit but it probably took longer than it needed to. It is okay for small jobs, but I do wish I got a better one because I did all of my pool coping, and it probably took twice as long and I went through three different bits.

Haven't had any issues with the drill function, again does the job but can take a little longer through more solid concrete.

I haven't used a more expensive one so I cant really compare it to other brands.

I've got the Ozito Brushless version of the Hammer Drill and it's a bit of a mad man however it does tend to cut out when things get tough which is a bit of a pain. Not a big deal-breaker for me as it restarts after retriggering but assume that doesn't happen on the equivalent (& more expensive) Ryobi and the like. May just be an issue with the Brushless version though as the motor would needs more smart management so maybe the brushed stuff just keeps going until it burns out.

I also have the Angle Grinder. Brilliant piece of kit and so handy for flush cutting nails, screws & staples during the reno. Helped the neighbour attack a decent piece of structural steel with it (10mm thick and approx. 90mm across) and yeah it took ages but it got there. Can't be compared to even a $20 mains powered version for pure speed/cutting ability but the cordless convenience for those smaller jobs far outweighs everything else for my needs. I've used it far more than I ever expected.

If you need to do any drilling in masonry or concrete don't waste your time with a hammer drill. Get their 1600W SDS rotary hammer for $149 as it cuts those materials like butter. The time you save will pay for the tool, SDS bit and frustration.

I have two of the $49 Ozito grinders and they are great. They run a flap disc and a cutting disc, I use them one handed. I have a 4.5" Metabo and 9" Bosch mains powered grinders for actual grinding…they are two handed tools.

  • 4.0ah battery $39.99 (comes up a lot but usually a lot more)

I think you will find that they have been selling them at that price for a while, a good price still though considering Samsung cells.

Print an adaptor for the ALDI battery and put it onto Dyson V6. Then you can have an interchangeable battery at twice the capacity with built-in battery gage.

      • Any chance you could link how to do this? Interested.

        • Yeah, an Ozito/ALDI adaptor for all Dyson models would be a big seller methinks.

        • +1

I have no instructions. I am going to do it myself using a faulty Dyson battery housing with https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2770920

        • @fatice:

I looked into this, and unfortunately you'll need to create your own switch to actuate the vacuum as Dyson has built the switch into the battery. If you replace the Dyson battery with this one plugged in it will just run instantly without input from the trigger

        • +1

          @clem0ximus:

As I mentioned, I will use a faulty Dyson battery and use its top housing, which contains the switch. Then wire the battery connection to the printed adaptor before I screw the adaptor onto the bottom of the housing.

      • At a glance it appears like they are different voltages (5s vs 6s), have you checked this?

        • This is true. However, at these high DC voltages it actually becomes less important.

Basically, any low voltage DC motor will work with a rather wide tolerance - I recently converted a 12v drill with a homemade adapter to my 18v Ozito batteries. No problems whatsoever, and it gives the motor heaps more power.

Components like LEDs, displays etc usually have their own boost/buck converters internally so as to cope with the ongoing voltage fluctuations as you use the device, so as long as the input is above the threshold (usually 5v or so) then the electronics side is perfectly OK.

The only time you'll have incompatibility is with charging; but either you're removing the battery to recharge on the original charger (which is fine), or, you are building a cell pack from scratch with a built in balancer (which is advanced) and you already know what you're doing :)

        • @Switchblade88:
The issue here though would be, say the Dyson is designed to cut out when the cell voltages hit 3v their 6s would then cut out at 18v, If the Dyson cut out the 5s battery at 18v then that would mean the cells would only get down to 3.6v each so you would only have access to half of their capacity.

  • What's the max torque and IPM of the impact wrench?

    • +1

Says 350Nm The ozito skin only is brushless but only 215Nm. For an impact driver, you need the torque.

      • If the 350Nm is honest then that is suitable for 4WD wheel nuts and larger stuff. I have a 360Nm Ryobi One+ 18V, and that does the 4WD wheels fine. Tyre rotations are much less strain on the lower back using one of these…
215Nm Ozito might not quite undo tight or slightly rusted nuts.

  • How do you get the catalog so early? Any other tools or just cordless this time?

    • +1

My local Aldi sometimes puts them out on a Tuesday. The other items are:

      20v quick charger $19.99
      20v Vacuum skin $34.99

  • Is that nailgun a brad nailer?

    • hard to say. It states under it;
"Firing speed 60 nails or staples per minute handy for finishes and trims (interior and exterior) door and window casings, door jambs, flooring, baseboard paneling and DIY cabinetry"

    • It looks like it; the straight profile & size appears to match other bradders. Besides, a full-size nailgun probably won't cope on an 18v battery.

  • Does anyone know if aldi's annual snow chain sale has passed? or is it yet to come?

    • +1

They were omitted from this years snow sale due to compliance issues

  • Is this catalogue available to view online yet?

  • Bunnings discounts on some Ozito items now on. Eg 4ah battery $39.89, per this arvo driveby..

  • The shelf listed looks good.

    https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-14-…

    Then I check bunnings it's $5 cheaper

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/montgomery-1830-x-910-x-410mm-5-…

Has anyone bought one of these before?

  • I have some questions about the nailer as I might need to nail about 20 nails into a 60+ year old hardwood floor. I am guessing i will need a battery and charger which will take me up to a total of about $160 bucks but Bunnings doesn't have anything that comes close to this. The one thing is how do I know that this will be compatible with the nails and staples available from Bunnings or anywhere else?
