  • Bugger I bought 2 steam link but got refunded no stock :(

    Really wanted one!

    • +1

I can sell you one for $50

  • They took the controller of their eBay store so we couldn't use a coupon on it :(

  • no stock! got refund email now :(

    • Did you get an order confirmation? I ordered and got a confirmation. Still no refund email so fingers crossed!

I bought a Steam Link years ago and it has got plenty of use. Think Dark Souls 2 and 3 plus Witcher 3. Works a treat.

Also very handy when I have friends come over and we play the JackBox games on the TV.

  • Too bad the steam link is utterly useless

    • +1

Maybe for you. I love it and its awesome paired with the controller.

  • Fun fact: The Steam Link has a built-in receiver for the Steam controller, so you can use the USB dongle for your PC. And if you hold A + Steam button when you turn it on the controller will switch between Steam Link and USB dongle pairing. Very handy hidden feature!

Another reason why this is a must-have accessory for PC gamers who also play on the big screen.

Thanks, picked up 2x 8Bitdo NES30 PRO Bluetooth Controller for $36 ea

    • I picked one of these up at a previous sale. The build quality is quite nice, the controller is very portable so it's great for travelling. I use mine with emulators on my Android tablet and it's very responsive. I also plan to use it as a spare Switch controller for Mario Kart.

      • Yep, I have wanted these for ages but always a bit on the pricey side. I setup Retroarch / Kodi on my Nexus player and my 4 year old got right into Sonic the Hedgehog, but the Xbox 360 remote is massive for her to hold.

Hope these will do the trick.

Destiny 2 on xbone was $29 at Target on the weekend. Not sure if/when it ends but worth checking if you want it.

Steamlink is listed as pickup only. Such bullshit that the device gets such great sales directly from Steams website but when we try to buy it we're linked to EB Games where the device is either held hostage at 90 bucks or it's cheap as shit store pickup only. God I hate EB >.<

    • It is pickup only because its sold out. NSW sold out as far as I can tell.

      • +1

I think he's referring to how EB games have Steam by the balls or something considering in the USA, a Steam controller is $33(AUD$45) and $2.50 for the Steam Link.

Only way to get them in Australia is through EB games, and they mark up the prices by more than 2x because there's no other vendor for Steam hardware in this country.

  • I was tempted to buy dissidia nt yesterday for $49 but backed out. Picked up gundam versus instead for $47. Lucky. I ordered dissidia on ozgameshop for $26.

  • Destiny 2? I got that last year for $35 at JB lol

  • Broden'ed five but not holding my breath

    • HOLY SHITE!

Just received four out of the five I ordered, the last one they gave me a $5 giftcard for. I'm not complaining!

  • I swear Destiny 2 was $12 in a Humble Bundle last month!?

    • +2

It was, but only on PC.

The price here is more tempting for console players.

    Destiny 2 on ps4 is $19.95 at the Gamesmen…..

  • Nearest available store for Steam Link is Dubbo? Anyone confirm that you can get it in Sydney area? Thanks.

    • I could not see either close to Sydney.

  • none in all of TAS :( Ive been keeping an eye out for a discount on these for a while

    • $8 shipping for me - still a good deal

      • It says in store only?

        • Must have sold out or something since I first checked :(

  • Got the last one in store cheers

  • I have the steam link that I got on discount from last year. I haven’t even opened it yet and embarrassingly I don’t know what it does lol. Can someone put in layman’s terms? It was an impulse buy clearly.

I play cs go mainly on my pc. I5 [email protected] 8GB Ram and gtx 1070ti

    • It's mirroring what you see in your laptop/desktop to your TV. Originally for Steam Games, but you can also use it to watch whatever in your screen - so can use to see Youtube, Netflix, Twitch, watch movies.

      • In your case for CS GO, you can plugged in keyboard and mouse and it will work as well, so rather than sitting in your desk, you can play in your sofa. Works best with wired though even it can work with wireless. I used USB extension cable so that it can extend from under TV to sofa.

    • It allows you to plug in a keyboard/mouse/controller and stream Steam games from your PC to your TV over LAN.

    • +1

The main purpose is to play your Steam library on the big screen. Especially if you have the TV in another room or different floor. If you don't want to run a long ugly hdmi cable throughout the house the Link comes in handy. It connects to your PC wirelessly or via (highy recommended) ethernet.

  • Thanks so much! I've been wanting one of these, picked up the last one in stock in-store.

  • Finally, a deal on the Steam Controller. Now the only question is, do I save $24 and get a preowned one or not?

    • The pre-owned ones have been on sale at EB for weeks. There's hardly any stock and they don't ship them out.

If you need one, get it for $60 or if you can check out the condition of a 2nd hand one then go that route. For me it's hard to pay $60 when they cost $33 USD ($45) new purchasing directly from Steam, but in Australia we just get directed to the EB games website from the Steam page. I don't live anywhere near one of the few stores that have the 2nd hand ones, so that option is out.

If EB put them at $60 on their eBay store I would have picked one up using a 10% off code, but they are keeping it at $90. I ain't buying.

      • is the controller any good vs a xbox controller?

        • The controller is okay. Build quality is a little questionable, the dual touch pads are okay. It's good for 4x strategy games and shooters and any games that use the mouse exclusively like little random indie puzzle games. For racing, fighting, adventure and platformers it's trash though.

  • In store only? Why can’t I get it delivered :(

  • -2

Got one of the EBGames in SA to Confirm there are none in any SA stores and on the Webstore. Said they are discontinued line.

The controllers are still in stock though. Seems pretty useless to me.

    • I wonder if they mean to bring out a new model, or the whole idea is just dropped by Valve.

      • I was wondering the same thing. Maybe 4K capable?

      • Idea is not dropped, they have turned it into an app for smart TVs and android boxes/devices. It's just a transition from a dedicated hardware box to a software solution as the market is now more functional to support it.

    • There was definately stock present earlier as I bought it. If it is out of stock now, is it a reason to neg. the deal?

      • It's not a reason to neg the deal.

  • +1

Doesnt all the samsung tvs have the app built in for free ??

  • Does anyone here recommend that I get the Steam Controller even if I already have the Xbox One controller?

I'm just so keen to try it out…

    • also want to know this

    • The controller is okay. Build quality is a little questionable, the dual touch pads are okay. It's good for 4x strategy games and shooters and any games that use the mouse exclusively like little random indie puzzle games. For racing, fighting, adventure and platformers it's trash though.

  • WHAT THE HECK $5?! I'M LATE!

  • +2

    I'm seeing $36 for Destiny 2.

  • +1

So many people bragging about buying this cheap, and then not using it….. :/

  • Well my items already arrived, that was super fast.

  • Thanks OP - good enough price for me to hit buy on the Life Is Strange Before the Storm Limited Edition.

  • Thanks for posting this OP

Ordered this yesterday around lunch time and showed up at my door this morning (metro Melbourne)

Set it up before works pretty sweet. Didn't have any issues with quality (tried Dishonored DOTO worked fine)

Might be worth picking up the steam controller for this as well while it's on special.

I used PS4 controller and worked fine, just that button mapping is going to be off thats all.

    Thanks again.

    • Wi-fi or Ethernet cable dude?

      • Running mine over Wifi. I notice a tiny bit of lag. But nothing to the point of unplayable.

EDIT: I don't know why I said lag. I meant to say frame stutter, if that makes more sense.

  • Anyone in Brisbane got their steam link yet…I don't even think they have shipped mine…..

And just noticed my estimated delivery was Monday is now wednesday

    • Received four of mine yesterday

      • Still haven't received mine and it's now been pushed back to 16th of July delivery……don't think its showing up

  • +2

Honestly, super impressed for $5. Very small amount of delay connected over 5ghz wifi - could easily play games like Cuphead/Overcooked etc.

At least now guests have something to play on the big TV downstairs as I have my console & PC upstairs!

Had no issues connecting my Xbox One S controller and PS4 DS4 controller right off the bat.

Also can be used as a chromecast-equivalent device to mirror my screen.

Really great deal. Thank you OP once again.

  • LOL Destiny 2 "Managers Special" $36. Absolute rip, been on here for like $16 before.
