How is this "free" if you have to spend $49?

  • +1

How else would you explain it?

    • It's clearly only a conditional discount.

Learn the difference, the term free or even complimentary means without cost or payment.

This item requires a payment meaning it would constitute as a conditional discount.

This is my 3rd food ordering company I've tried and tbh it's my favourite one so far. They let me change some of the meals in my order and even gave me a cute little candle in my box for my order and the food is a lot nicer than other companies!

    • wheres my candle…

  • +1

I believe it's only 1 free meal ($9.95), the Thai BBQ Pork Noodle is the 2nd free meal (correct me if I'm wrong). Tested at checkout:

    Cost summary
    Subtotal $49.75
    Discount WINTERTHAI-20 - $9.95
    $9.95 off total order price
    Shipping Free
    Total Including $3.62 in taxes
    AUD $39.80

So it's basically a $9.95 discount on $49 spend, similar to the FLASHSALE-2FM code which gives you $10 discount on $49 spend which seems the best code for existing customers at the moment.

    I'll update the deal description.

    • New customers should consider using referral links instead – you still 2 free meals (including Thai dish) + you help OzB members :)

    • Oh oops sorry yeah think you're right.

  • What are the deals for new customers?

    • Referral. $10 each plus new customer get Thai noodle

Sigh these guys resort to all sorts of gimmicks, 2 free meals, "extra" sized portions meal options when their normal sized portions are just downright tiny for those on a 2000 calorie diet. When what they need to do to properly establish themselves in the business is to raise their portion sizes and get pricing under control. Easier said than done though. If they publish their margins maybe they'd be able to justify their costs and get people to understand they are offering value.

    • +1

I think you're thinking of thr1ve? Youfoodz don't have extra sized portions.. Although I will admit their meals are a bit small.

      • My mistake that's thr1ve but what I say still stands.

Yeah let's say their highest calorie meal is 450 cals and that's the highest calorie one I've seen on the site…three meals is 1350 calories which is way below what is recommended for the average male. For small women trying to lose fat this would provide an adequate caloric deficit. Based on the numbers anyone with a 2000 BMR eating 1350 a day will end up with a case of malnutrition in the long run.

        • Well you obviously aren't their target market. There are plenty of other food delivery services that cater to a high calorie diet.

  • how does the free thai bbq noodles work? I need to set the delivery date before 7th July?

    • +1

Correct. After 7th of july they may have a different free meal instead or they may have nothing or maybe reduced price on their meals. Nearly every week they have some sort of extra promo on.

  • I don't see the meal is free in checkout. Does it get added after payment or?

  • +1

Currently eating my meals from the last deal, they're pretty good! Would recommend!

  • +1

is the pork noodles added to the cart? or just comes with delivery?
I ordered and put them in the cart, it deduced $9.95

  • -2

Won't delivery to Melbourne CBD (address it validated in the form). No deal for me.

    • -1

you really are a weird bunch of autists to down vote that.

  • Are the lamb shanks funky, or is it just mine?

    • Mine were good, let them know and I'm sure they will fix it up for you.
