    Mmmm, floating switches.

  • Backlight ?

      No backlight unfortunately.

      • No backlight is good - means you won't disturb your partner when typing in bed! 😁 (clickety-clack)

      learn to touch-type :p

  • sweet keyboard, is this the same as cherry mx reds?

    • Yep, the amazon page says so as well :)

    • these are genuine cherry MX reds.

good mechanical keyboard for people new to the scene :)

    remember

Blue switches are more for typists(very loud clicking sound )
    Red is more for gaming

  • tempting to buy one just for the workshop computer. hard to use anything else after using mechanical keyboards.

now if only someone would make one that looks like it was made by apple, but with cherry keys.

    • Here you go, Xiaomi Yuemi Pro MK02 TKL

Also MK01 for the older Apple style.

Thanks. I should have been clearer. Wanted one that works with OSX and has the same font/media keys/F13 - F19 keys.

Looks like if I want something very specific it is going to be the DIY/custom route.

      • Lol @ the price of that keyboard. It does have an apple price.

Darn, too bad the AMAZON20 code doesn't work with Amazon US as the seller.

Oh well, $54.69 is still pretty good.

  • Aaaaand bought. Now, the waiting game begins.

    • Nice, likewise. Did you get the red or the blue switch?

      • Red. Didn't want to wait for the back-order.

Looks good for an entry-level mechanical one.

  • wow cheap, been wanting a Mechanical KB with no led backlight (really good for those who use KVMs & USB extenders as the LED KB/s generally pull too much power to work). Hopefully it works with my UGREEN USB 3.0 Sharing Switch, e.g.: https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-Sharing-Keyboard-Scanner-Pri…

  • Are mechanical keyboards loud? I touch type so am always looking for the best keyboard but don't want it to be too loud for the office as it will annoy people.

    • Blue ones are loud. I have one.

    • yeah most mechanical keyboards are noticeably louder than membrane keyboards. just get red switches, the blue switches are too loud.

    • Blue are very loud. Blacks and reds aren't so loud as long as you don't bottom-out the keys. If you do tend to bottom-out, you can buy o-rings which will remove the 'clack' sound.

      • For O-rings, is it worth splashing out for decent ones or will cheap ebay ones suffice? (Note that I'm a bit of a cheap-arse)

I used cheap ones on my previous MX blues and didn't have any bad experiences. It's just some plastic. If you had a high end keyboard or specific needs then perhaps it would be worth it.

Red and black is soft, but I don't feel like red is good for office work.

I got brown, and I need to be a little softer with my touch to avoid being too loud.

I have the corsair RGB70 with cherry reds and some of the keys have started ghosting, not real happy for the money I paid for it. I wanted to get something to last longer than the 2-3 years I usually get from the standard logitech KB's and would have expected this one to last longer. Other than that I like it and can get anti-ghosting software to deal with the main issue. Oh and it isn't detected under Linux for some reason (it used to be) but that shouldn't effect the KB in the op.

    • Oh and it isn't detected under Linux for some reason

I had this issue with Arch linux and my Steelseries 7G.

The issue was that it's a PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 support is not default in the kernel now, and I had to follow these steps to fix it:
      https://www.archlinux.org/news/linux-313-warning-ps2-keyboar…

      • Thanks for that, my corsair KB is USB and not PS/2. If I plug a spare KB in then that works fine, just not the Corsair one. It used to work though so I'm not sure what's changed. :)

  • pretty good price. maybe i should sign up for the free trial!

The Red one is now $59.59 (was $54.69).

    • Thanks, updated.

      • Now it's $59.44.

Not sure if it's worth updating, given its frequency.

Got my keyboard today. Still adjusting to the raised keys (compared to my basic, low-profile membrane keyboard), but it won't take too long hopefully.

Took 8 business days to deliver, BTW.

    Thanks!

    • Yep, received mine 2 days ago also. I am surprised at the build quality so far. Pity it isn't backlit. The design is actually quite compact for a full size keyboard. Now to type a bit better so I don't make that many mistakes on the red switches -_-

Same. It's a lot heavier than I expected, which is a good thing for me.

Now, time to wait for some o rings.
