YouTube Income Earn Rate

Hi, was hoping to get information/feedback/experience with people using Youtube as a source of income. I have read to earn cash from views, that you need to have a 1000 subscribers and 4000 watched hours in a 12 month period. It is also seems not guaranteed that you get accepted by Youtube to earn income if accomplish those levels?

Anyone know what the earn rate is once you have qualified? Have read many different rates quoted plus they also differ from each country. Could not find anything official from Youtube.

Any other related feedback would be great, thanks

You get paid depending on views. But it's something miniscule like fractions of a cent per view. Most big YouTubers don't actually make their money from YouTube. They maintain popularity and marketing from YouTube, but their money comes from donors and private sponsors and ad deals.

    • Well there goes my aspirations to take up my educational/hobbies and spread that knowledge via youtube. Wouldn't get enough of a typical fanbase of the comedians/stars of youtube and IG these days, so i assume no source of income would be viable :(

Oh. Oh no. You can explore that kind of thing on YouTube as a hobby. That's what most successful YouTubers started out as. Do not go into YouTube depending on it for any kind of income.

You'll find the people who make it big on YouTube/Twitch are those who start out with a genuine passion they want to share, and no expectation of making it big. At some point their motley crew of followers gets to a respectable number, and they start treating it like a business and it blows up due to a combination of luck/talent/luck/decision-making/luck. The people who go in expecting to make money never turn it into a success.

      • Have a look at Ave's channel, Canadian bloke who rambles on about tools and whatnot. Then have a look at his Etsy shop…

      • I thought most people get their money from Patreon these days or repping other stuff like Squarespace etc?

YouTube used to be good but they have changed the payment structure recently.

Alot of big YouTubers are already complaining

Do it because you have something to share with the world - do not think you could make a career out if it INSTANTLY! It takes years to build up that sort of following for even a meagre income.

  • As an idea, why not contact a few Youtube channels that have over 1000 subscribers. If you sent a few nicely worded email you will likley get a response from one of them who could let you know the reality when it comes to payments.
