And it could have the worst selection of panel to date

    • +2

I've already bought this for my sister in law with a 5 year warranty. It looks great, can't go wrong for 5 years.

However, I don't think I'll buy ebay's more expensive 3 year warranty, it's a waste considering how well my current one is going.

      • As far as I'm concerned, Australian Consumer Law would guarantee a product like a TV for 3 (and probably 5) years. Buying the extra Kogan insurance might give peace of mind, but any faults should be repaired within 3-5 years under the legislation regardless of what Kogan/DS try and argue

        • -1

Also need to factor in the massive pain in the ass doing warranty claims, particularly on a tv of this size would be.

          • No tv for several weeks.
          • Most likely need to pay for courier back to Kogan?
        • +3

          @FriendlyPhillip:

in 2008 i had a kogan tv blow up in the first week. I contacted them on the monday, courier picked it up on the tuesday, i had a new replacement back by the friday. no charge to me. was very happy.

        • +1

@jt0505t: While true (and some good feedback; thanks for sharing), a warranty claim on arrival would likely go far more smoothly than a warranty claim after month 29.

        • @jt0505t:

This year I had a Kogan TV intermittently stop showing a picture, took the 2 weeks to contact me to pick it up. Another week to pick it up (after lying that no one was home). Then 6 weeks later sent me back a TV that was even more broken (won't show any picture) and now won't pick it up unless I find a box for it to be picked up in.

Worst customer service I've ever had and won't be bothering again.

  • Title says 65", description says 75"

      description should account for bezels

dont forget $30 voucher and $10 referral credit

    • Can't use the $30 voucher on eBay

        just saw kogan whops

  • If only kogan a TV with HDR for gaming

  • Can these not be mounted on the wall?

    • TV Features
      VESA Mount Compatible

      • +3

OH ok. Now I know what VESA is, thanks.

Just saw that in the listing but wondering if that is for the 75" or 65"

        • I dont think there has been a tv made that doesnt havr VESA mounts in 10 years, possibly since CRTs

Kogan TV purchase is my biggest regret

    • +4

Yeap - me too, have a 42” ‘smart’ tv that’s over 4-5 years old with around 40 hours used. Damn “smart” takes almost a minute to boot…then you can change channels. Ffs.

      • +2

I think it's easier to get something like a Fetch TV.
Then you don't need the TV to change channels or do anything but picture and sound.

        • +1

idea behind buying a smart tv is not to make it dumb in the first place

        • @ozdesi:

Will it's still a smart TV just a slow one.

Using Fetch let's you do more than most smart TVs too.

      • smart tvs have a reputation for getting slow and being generally rubbish
a dumb tv like this has less things to slow down haha

        • -3

if only apple could have disrupted the smart tv market with smarter OS

        • +8

          @ozdesi:

          People want affordable TVs though

        • @spaceflight: of course but the point was Apple would have forced the competition to get their act together to make their OS smarter.
At the moment manufacturers don't care about smartness as long as they can stick "Smart" logo on the box.

        • [@ozdesi]: like tvOS?

        • Yeah, I just plug my laptop in and that's better than any smart TV. A million times faster and does a million more things. Compatible with all dumb TVs and I save a fortune on "smart" TV costs.

    • I always thought people bought Sony for their main TV, and Kogans were for the kids room etc.

    • Kogan TV purchase is my biggest regret

Wow. You have led a charmed life. Respect.

shipping should be simplified to "Sydney and Melbourne metro only"

  • +6

Was wondering how bad the picture quality is and then realised that half of Australia is excluded from shipping. No bad decisions tonight!

    • -3

Was that half in land or population proportion?
Sydney and Melbourne metro don't seem to be half of land size.

  • +16

a friend of mine has Kogan Smart TV. The screen is nice but it takes some time for the picture to show up on the screen, the software is very slow. If you switch it on now, the picture will show up in time for the next World Cup 2022

    • +3

Yea may be but for the price… also how many times would you switch it on off every day. Ozb crowd shouldn't be complaining about wasting 15secs a day.

      • +1

<spends 25 minutes searching for reviews and specs>

        yes!

    • This one is a dumb TV though, no android, no software mentioned at all. I would have thought that wouldn't have the same issue as the smart/agora models.

  • hmm a bit worrying that they havent even got the specs for the right model on their ebay page

  • +4

    No HDR.
HDR arguably more significant than 4K

    • They've got several HDR TVs now, though none at 65 inch. Can't attest to the quality but have been looking out for reviews

    • Maybe for remuxs or specific gaming use… but netflix hdr is very average. Majority of my 4k viewing tends to not be HDR still.

    • +2

What's the benefit of HDR TV?

    • Who said?

    • Is there any similar size TV with hdr for less than $1300? Best I can find is a hisense on sale or a refurb sony.

With the prices dropping on 55" oleds I'll probably just wait for 65" ones to drop too. This would be a good short term fix considering the lack of good hdr content right now

  • +6

Doesn't post to South America…..or Adelaide.

    • +1

They ship to Nigeria if you pay via western union

  • +1

Why can they not ship it to Adelaide?
They can ship 55" but not bigger.
Even though you are willing to pay shipping and even extra shipping they wont do it.
Must be a reason why they won't but others do?

SA's power grid is one 65" TV away from meltdown.

anyone know how this.compares to the recent Aldi 65inch 4k tv? I bought Aldi one from last sale and have not opened the box yet

    • If the qualities worse, I would buy it of you, PM me a price? if interested

      • Not sure if I want to sell it now… will let you know if that is the case

  • +3

Kogan are awesome regarding warranty claims.. Always gone over and above for me, even goodwill replacement out side of warranty periods.

  • +1

Bought the Kogan 55" $459 - bought it not expecting it to be competing with the high end TV's available for triple the price.

Certainly delivers for the price paid as long as you have realistic expectations for a TV at the price point. I did buy the 'dumb' version as I prefer to use chromecasts and consoles for plex/stan/netflix etc.

Props to Kogan as well, I messaged them stating 1 button on the remote doesn't work and they were quick to help and posted a replacement remote after basic troubleshooting.

Over 80 upvotes, and only about 3 purchases? hmmm

  • I've seen the Aldi 65" 4K tvs on clearance for $599 at some stores.

  • Good deal. Picked up one. No problem for Sydney Metro delivery.
