    I think they mean 8 cartridges. Each of the cartridges has 3 blades

  I use DE blades ….100 blades $20….went back to old way about 3 years ago, haven't looked back.

  I also use shave soap instead of canned cream …..the $5 shave stick has been going for 1 year and still has a way to go.

  Feel dumb for using cartridges and canned shaving cream for 30 years considering i grew up using DE blades, shave soap and brush …..somewhere I bought cartridges in the 80s as that was the trend …like microwaved pies were the new thing, they were quick but didn't taste nice.
