It appears branded (i.e. Nike) stuff is 100+ for a pair of slim fitting trackies (granted they are of supreme quality materials).
Anyone know of basic cotton tracksuit pants that are more reasonably priced?

Bonds are nice and comfy, but not really good for going out or even gym.
How so?
Adidas make some nice ones too, i got mine for $35 on sale. What i like about them is that they have zips on the pocket so when im at the gym or whatever, stuff doesn't fall out
Costco has some slim-fit Puma ones intermittently which are about $23.
Uniqlo
I love Uniqlo, but their trackies aren't that slim.
Asos, good if you can wait for a sale:

These look great. I might wait for a sale and take the plunge.
Thanks for this suggestion. I'm wearing this one atm and its exactly what I was after.
Nikes are the best, materials wise and definitely looks wise. There's a bit of a difference with the cheaper ones compared to the nikes, like the asos trackies posted here. Why not just save up for a quality Nike pair that you will love and hang onto for ages and wont go out of shape. Worth it. A lot of these cheaper ones you can only wear around the house or to gym/groceries maybe. I wear my nike ones to shops, coffees, out wherever as they look sporty yet casual too. I'd go for the tech fleece range, they have awesome colourways too.
Good rationale, but I just cant bring myself to pay $100+ for trackies. Even on sale, that's just ridiculous.
can't help you there mate. people will spend 2 million dollars on an old house in a good area that needs heaps of maintenance, yet struggle to spend $100 on something they will use probably 3-4 times a week and be happy with it and enjoy wearing it out and look good. go figure
Go figure? Ok.
That 2 mil house will probably be 3 mil in a few years (yes, they are predicting increases in the long term). Spending $100 for a garment that cost 30 cents to make. When there might be alternatives that are 95% as good for much less than 50% of the price (i.e. that ASOS suggestion posted above).
Figured it out yet?
@datzed:
why eat anything other than rice and chicken and a couple veggies for the rest of your life and never eat anything else at all. cheap and you can survive. why buy a car when you can walk and take public transport to get everywhere, why buy clothes when you can live in a potato bag, why buy a decent suit for a wedding when you can buy a cheap 10 dollar one from china. If you go by your logic for everything, then what's the point of living mate?
There are other alternatives but like I said - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. If you want to be 65% happy with the cheaper buy then go for it, but I want to be 100% happy and have something that looks the best in its class and is of good quality that you can actually wear out and it be cool. more than half of the ones mentioned here look dorky as hell out and are more home type pants. IMO I'd save up and get what I love

sometimes in life you just have to open your wallet and bite the bullet for something you actually want. Just bring yourself to doing it rather then overthinking it and stressing about it. Life's just too short for that bs.
end of the day you will get what you pay for…
Assuming you're a guy:
Cotton On - Trippy Slim Trackie
Available in 12 colours and now only $20 before any additional promo codes, cashback etc.
these are great for around the house, wouldn't wear them out, the cut is horrible, look at different colours around the ankles and knees they aren't tapered. Even around the groin area they cut up, and material is thin, not great for winter if you were to wear them out…. after a few washes how do they go also?
Hubby loves them, has several pairs. They look fine to me. YMMV
hope he's not wearing them out to anywhere other than coles woolies
kmart. You even get zips on the pockets.
Slim fit though?
Got some slim trackies from Kmart the other week just to wear around the house only $12 and the quality was surprisingly decent.
i'd go nike/adidas if you want to wear them out (tech fleece range), or kmart/cotton on/factorie if it's just around the house and yard.
Target were doing some really good ones, black slim fit
Went to Target yesterday. They do have them but I found quality was very poor. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Cotton On is by far the winner here. Great prices for skinny trackies ($20) and a surprisingly ethical (at least regarding their supply chain management) company too. I've got a pair from Academy Brand, and regardless of how well they might be made they're not that comfortable.
I'll check them on my lunch break. Thanks for the suggestion.
Believe it or not you can also buy quality trackies made right here in AU for under $40: https://www.qualitops.com.au/online-store/mens/mens-slim-fit…
