  • Good price.
UserBenchmark rates these two drives as performing very, very similarly: link

  • Local stock, local warranty,

I need 1TB at killer pricing but we seem to be seeing most 256 and 500GB deals.

Also future proof, buy normal sata which is plenty fast or go M.2 and an adapter for when the next mother board goes into the case ?

    • +1

m.2. + adapter won't provide any speed difference. m.2. only faster if buying nvme drives such as the 960, not the 860.
2.5" is the way to go, so you can "save" your m.2. slot for an nvme drive if/when you decide to buy one.

      • +3

If you're buying an adapter to go M.2->SATA that would be true.

A PCIe->M.2 adapter will let you use a NVMe SSD - you get to use the full speed of the NVMe SSD, (constrained by the max bandwidth of PCIe).

You can get PCIe->NVMe M.2 adapters for less than $10 on ebay or Amazon.

        • M.2 NMVE to PCIE adapter is what I was thinking off … M.2 SATA unlikely on newer motherboards … so SATA I'd get as 2.5" drive.

  • Slightly cheaper at Futu using 20% coupon https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-860-EVO-500GB-SSD-2-5-SA…

Edit: if you're willing to click n collect $20 postage otherwise

  • Normally this would be a great deal. But there have been better this EOFYS (for this drive and others). But thanks for posting all the same.
