  • Nice specs except only 1GB memory.
Is that an issue with IOS?

The SE or 6S has 2GB - a huge difference.

    • +3

Yes it makes a difference and will likely be unsupported sooner.

I agree. I'd definitely go the 6S. It has twice the ram and is a lot snappier in general use imo.

    • +1

It's almost 5 years old. It's going to be sluggish with the latest iOS and app support will dry out soon.

Gotta give props to Apple for being able to keep prices up for 5 year old devices.

      • Yeah mine was so slow on iOS 10, 11. A little better on 12. Battery was stuffed after 14 months. Just sold it on eBay for 200 at 2 years old. Far out! Bought a Nokia 7 plus for 400. Such an awesome speedy phone with huge battery.

Yikes, it's pretty shocking to see 4 year old phones still selling for $449.

    • +2

I guess people are paying for the software. It is still supported with the latest IOS.
Sure you can get much better hardware for half the price, but thats not the only factor.

      • +3

But every iteration of the newer software slows it down even more with more complex code and obsolence. You wouldnt pay this much just because you want the latest IOS version considering it is so slow on older hardware. Not to mention as above - 1GB RAM will force retirement with the next iteration of IOS anyway.

  • They’re not locked, see here.

  • from the ad it's a prepaid service..assuming that LOCKED

iPhones are kind of the exception.

According to Optus store rep, they don't network lock their iphones anymore. So regardless of whether it's post-paid or pre-paid, you can use your phone with any SIM.

They'll still lock any non-iFruit Prepaid devices.

  • +2

It’ll get iOS 12 which is suppose to be a huge speed boost for older devices.

    • +6

I wouldn't exactly say a "huge speed boost" I would say it won't slow the devices down anymore than they already are.

Dropping $400 on a 4 year old phone that has a market life of around 2 years.. not the wisest decision.

I guess the plus side is that they overused this design so much everyone will think you have a newer iPhone.

  • Is this the bendy one?

  • iPhone 6 will not play Fortnite. I got caught by this, as it was the sole reason my son wanted a iphone.
You must have a 6S or later.

    • Seriously? There's cheaper iPads lol they'll give your son a better experience if he insists on mobile. Just know the older the device, the more lag.

Or get an Xbox for even cheaper and be able to play Fortnite with no lag or other games if son wants?

    • +1

"Hey, son, if you want to play a computer game on a telephone, go find a job and pay for it yourself"…

Why bother with this old phone when you can purchase a damn solid superior China droid for half the price?

  • But… does it have B28?

it is sad to see people are still up voting this deal that are too tied up to the apple eco system and not willing to let go.
