2 Free Cinema Tickets with Purchase of Entertainment Book

2020
EVENTGIFT

I received an email from a charity group telling me about a deal the Entertainment Book has going at the moment.
The offer is 2 x free cinema passes when I purchase the Entertainment book.

Exact wording was "If you enter the promo code 'EVENTGIFT’ at the check out you get 2x BONUS EVENT Cinemas Saver eTickets while stocks last"

I believe it's valid for Event Cinemas and Village Cinemas.

The code can be used no matter what charity / fundraising group you buy through.

  • dont see a section to enter promo code :( which step is this?

    • +2

You need to buy the book from a charity. For instance when I go onto the Cancer Council's Entertainment book portal, I can see the promo code box.

      • Did it list the tickets in the order summary or anything like that

        • +1

Looks like there is no confirmation – but I've confirmed that tickets will be emailed.

        • @Pete Gabitas:
Thank's I had been resisting renewing but with free movie tickets chucked in my resistance crumbled :) Perth Children's Hospital still gets a piece too so great deal all round

      • +2

cheers just got it through - bottom of my confirmation email says they will "send me a gift" in 2 business days

      • Can't you just use the promo code box through the main website?

        • Think you have to go through a charity site but there are plenty so shouldn't be difficult.

  • +1

Digital Membership too? I put the code in but it doesn't give any notification whether it is valid or not

    • Yep, digital membership too.

      • Which is better in practice? I’ve heard the app is better but I’m a little sceptical.

        • +3

that's because you always have your phone on you for those random moments you're at the venue. Digital is definitely the way to go

        • App is better if you don't want to lug a book around and want to easily share it. For instance my wife and I can work in separate places and still use it through the day and have all vouchers available.
I do know others who prefer the book, especially if they can trade preferred vouchers with other book holders (say get multiple ones for their nearby restaurants and give up ones for restaurants near their friends).

        • @wizzfizz: Thing is, can't you just hand them the voucher and say I want this? Whereas with the phone, you have to explain and they generally have to get the manager to do it, which is awkward and takes time.

        • +4

@Gizdonk: Most of them know how to do it without a manager by now, and on multiple occasions I've had my voucher left unredeemed by the staff which means I've used the same voucher multiple times. Pretty sure a lot of people have as well.

  • +5

    Membership is $60-$65

    • showing me $70 of Vic

      • -6

Same. $70 for two movie tickets. I'll just buy the tickets with Optus/Telstra rewards.

    • +1

$50/55 if you work for a partner venue https://www.entertainmentbook.com.au/merchantbooks/9n44639

If you don't work for one you can take your chances. Worst case they give you a refund?

      • has anyone tried this? also can we stack with the code with free movie tickets?

  • +4

Finally bought it this year. Gotta admit barely used it last year…. but it’s for charity I guess.

    • +11

LOL, me mate said the same thing last time he went to men's gallery

    • Only 10 dollars goes to charity I believe, somepne correct me if I am wrong

      • Our local book is $70 and we get $14. Basically, the fundraising group gets 20%.

  • +8

Interesting that it’s not 20% off chemist warehouse ($10 off $50) but 10% off e-gift cards this year. Better as you can now get prescriptions!

    • +2

Plus I think you can order gift cards for up to $500 so we can get $50 discount instead of just 3 $10 coupon. Of course this is only better for people like me who will end up spending $500 at chemist warehouse every year anyway

    • How do you buy prescription drugs with e-gift cards? I thought that's online only?

      • +1

Egift you must print out to scan in-store

      • +1

the CW voucher (10% off)just can use in-store
        remember print it out

    • I can't find e-gift cards on chemist warehouse website. Can someone please post a link?

  • +2

    that sucks.. just renewed it..

  • +1

Where is the best place to buy the entertainment book from?

  • Missed it last year but got it this time :) Thanks Op!

  • Ordered. Thanks!

  • +10

Oh so disappointing that regular buyers who purchase earlier do not get this incentive.

    • +4

      .. you don't need incentive

    • Agreed. Why not reward us that buy the book every year nice and early?

Though I guess since the books are to 1st of June, anyone buying now has missed a couple of weeks…not that I think I've used anything in my book yet anyway.

  • Definitely digital. You can still add your family or friends on it so they can use your link too.. Still can only use each voucher once. You just ring the entertainment company and they ask how many people you want to have linked to your account. Then you get your family to register using your email.

  • Is it cheaper to buy a second book with the same email?

    • You can purchase other editions using your existing entertainment account (you must have your local or another one for the year already). You cannot purchase a second 'primary' book at a discount price. Hope that makes sense. Let me know if I can help further as I have been selling the books for at least 15 years now.

  • Does anyone receive notification to say the promo code is valid, I've been through the whole process and there's nothing to indicate I will receive 2 Free movie tickets even though I have entered the code?

    • +3

It should be automatic - someone said above they got notification that they will receive a 'gift' in two days. If you don't get anything then, contact the charity/group you purchased it through. If you can't track them down, message me and I'll get in touch with my account manager and see what I can find out. Please note, I am just a seller of the books, I don't work for Entertainment.

      • +1

        Thanks sam-1966!

  • Wow, this deal is amazing!

  • +1

Okay, I am an entertainment book newbie. Never had one, but always joined when my mates wanted to redeem an offer.

Do these last for a year? When do they expire?

    • -1

      Would also love to know…

    • Their website says

The Card and Book are valid from now through the close of business 1 June, 2019.

  • +1

Got any email from entertainment book about this deal. Terms and condition as below:

    https://www.entertainmentbook.com.au/renew-promotion-terms-a…

    Hope this helps

  • I received an email direct from Entertainment advertising this offer but the code is reversed.

"Enter promo code "GIFTEVENT" at checkout and you will receive your eTickets via your email inbox within 48 business hours. Redeem your EVENT Cinemas eTickets at participating EVENT Cinemas.
    "

Are there any upcoming movies that are worth watching?

    • Mission Impossible

      • +1

        Are you joking?

  • -2

What about for the people who already bought it?

  • Thanks, ordered. Was planning on doing one from Perth Zoo last night, glad I waited!

  • Thanks OP.

For anyone wondering when the code will arrive:

Enter promo code "GIFTEVENT" at checkout and you will receive your eTickets via your email inbox within 48 business hours. Redeem your EVENT Cinemas eTickets at participating EVENT Cinemas.

  • Book or digital? Thing is, can't you just hand them the book voucher and say I want this? Whereas with the phone, you have to explain and they generally have to get the manager to do it, which is awkward and takes time?

    • I've never had anyone get the manager. Just ask them to press the Redeem button. Easy.

  • Hay. i know these books have a 12 month period to use.. when is the end of that time.. ie buy now and only have 6 months or is new book every June 30

    • Book is valid until 1st June.

  • Bought this last couple of years but will probably give it a miss. The app is terrible and not as many deals as before.

Basically ended up going using it for 5% gift cards and they're now available though cash rewards anyway

    • +2

Huh? The app is great! Better than carrying a book around and the search at your current location is so handy!

  • +1

Awesome offer, thanks for the share! :)

  • Just tried entering the code, but there is NO free bonus tickets at checkout. Stock runs out?

    • +1

It didn't mention the tickets at checkout for me.
But confirmation emails mentions sending out the bonus gift within 2 business days to my email address.
I guess just make sure the code is entered in.. and that you did go through or select a charity/organisation.

  • So the only way to buy these is if you choose a charity? Also is the code EVENTGIFT or GIFTEVENT?

    • +1

      It appears both works.
I used the code from OP - EVENTGIFT
And then I checked my email, I had an earlier email from Entertainment book about renewing and promo code GIFTEVENT.

  • With the discount on gift cards is there a limit on how much you can buy?
I'd be looking at buying some Supercheap vouchers.

    • +1

$1,000 per transaction, $10,000 per membership.

  • Did anyone received their ticket yet? I used EVENTGIFT as OP suggested.

Later I received GIFTEVENT from entertainment book so bit worried now…

  • +1

FYI for those waiting on the movie tickets.

I got this in my confirmation email at the bottom:

"As a bonus we will be sending you a gift within 2 business days to the email address used for the purchase."

  • When do these deals on the book expire if I buy today?

    • 1st June 2019.

      • So it rolls continuously or is this just good timing?

        • The book is valid from date of purchase (usually around March/April) until 1st of June the following year.

  • -2

I only purchased the online digital book 3 days ago.
Wonder if I can contact them and say I couldn't find where to enter the promo code and now I've bought it and can't go back? But cheeky but hey……

    • +2

I called and the offer sold out within 18 hrs of going live, they will not be giving pre-existing members and concession. I bought my book 3 hrs before the deal was emailed out- all I got was a 'sorry'

  • I believe this deal is only for renewals and not new customers.

New customers can use the code but most likely won’t get anything

    • Not true. I am a new customer and already received the vouchers.

  • I just signed up, it said EVENTGIFT has been exhausted but GIFTEVENT worked for me. EVENTGIFT gave the error message before even getting to payment details, GIFTEVENT made no mention of the "gift with purchase" while I was checking out but when I received the confirmation email it says it at the bottom of that

  • +1

Just received mine. It’s a movie saver voucher for two people for the same session. Very strange!

    • I can get vouchers like this through a corporate offer and it has the same requirement

  • Just had an email from Entertainment Book that this has sold out.

    • Bought before this message, hopefully I get the offer (website still accepts the code though)

  • I got the vouchers!

Used EVENTGIFT instead of the GIFTEVENT in my email
