Almost the same setup here… 2012 CU2 and 2011 GE… Stocked up on Castrol Edge and 10 genuine oil filters from eBay sale. Both share the same oil filter, shame that the pollen filters aren't..
The Castrol one not the cheapest I have seen though
True, $30 was cheapest i've seen for the 5L.
$29.99 to be exact! I miss the deal
$49.95 for 10L was the koots
Thanks for posting OP. I wonder if $35 will be the new Castrol discount price, whether we’ll see $30 after July 1..
:( Have to wait for low SAPS
Oil expensive, vehicle expensive a d now Fuel as well… Why did I buy Diesel!!!
Have you tried COVS Parts and buying Fuchs Titan? I pay around $170inc for 20L.
I get all my other spares from Veale Auto Parts, the prices are at least half that of Super Cheap Auto when on special.
Waiting for the next 20% off store wide sale…
YES the GODS have come
5w-30 on sale
The smooth gods have come…..
My car Honda Hrv needs 0w-20. Wondering if that will be on sale.
I don't recall any 0w-20 or 0w-30 ever being discounted……
Its only when they have x% discount on all items.
check your manual. My corolla recommends 0w-20 as well but there are usually a range of oils you can use like 5w30.
Castrol 5W-30 can be as low as $29.99, stock up then, not now unless you're desperate
Does oil have a shelf life?
Generally no as long as you don't expose it to extreme temperatures. e.g. leave it in the sun or out in the frosty garden. Store it somewhere nice and dry in your garage and you can keep it for years and years.
I would also not use 'opened' bottles of oil which has been kept around for ages. Unopened is fine which is why I usually buy 5L not the larger sizes.
Millions of years.
I'm driving a 93 Impreza GX that specifies 10W40 oil. Is there any advantage if I use the Edge 5W30? Will I get better fuel consumption? Would like to hear people's experiences. Thanks
No, just use magnatec 10w40 - old subies love it. get it when it's cheap! ($20)
Thanks, that's what I'm using now, guess I'll keep on using it.
Will the shell one suit a 2012 i30?
Use super cheap auto parts checker http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/vehicle-search/parts-guide
Or type datateck oil [oil brand name] into google and use the appropriate link (https://www.datateck.com.au/Lube/ShellAU/?if=1)Thank you
Hi,
Can I use 5w-30 on my 2012 Honda Jazz. I have check my car owners manual however, can’t undersatnd the graph they have given. Any help will be appropriated. Thanks, find your exact car model here: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/vehicle-search/parts-guide
It will then list all products compatible with your car.
Maybe upload an image of your graph from your owners manual; or find the exact same graph from manualslib.com (is it this one?)there will be no issues using 5w-30 in your honda jazz
damn! i need 5.7L of castrol edge and an extra 1L costs $20!
Just buy more 5L bottles. You will be doing more changes in the future I presume.
thanks OP. Used the qantas online mall to get in store pick up. Collect qantas points/velocity/cash rewards + in store pick up for the win.
Nice, time to stock up 5w-30 again……
I usually use the Shell Helix Ultra 5w-30 or Castrol Edge 5w-30 interchangeably in my Honda Accord Euro CU2 and Mazda 2.
Used to use the Mobil 1 5W-30 but too expensive nowadays and not massively better, since i change oil + filter every 6 months.
