Dan Murphy's Members - 24x 330ml - Kirin $40, Kronenbourg 1664 $41, Kosciuszko $52.90

Ok price for Kirin, great price on Kosciuszko and a great beer. Not sure how long Kirin is on special for, but Kosciuszko is today only.

No discount on the Leffe, Chimay and Duvel I bought though :(

Edit: Memebrship is free on the spot. They also didn't have them in the chilled beer section at my local so I had to go out to the normal shelves to grab them. I also just noticed on my receipt they charged me $42 for the Kirin, so double check when paying.

Great for those not from Australia…. kind of…

      • fosters was once australia largest selling beer ….then for some reason they ( fosters brewing or elders ixl ) positioned it as the international brand and dropped it from domestic …..

haven’t tried it in 30 years so i should give it a go.

Truth be told it’s better than the Kirin megumi, tastes nothing like a Japanese beer.

      • It used to be a big seller and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, and is arguably better than the state by state standards (Tooheys, XXXX, VB etc).
Not sure why it seems to have such a bad reputation.

        • When living in London I know first hand Fosters gives you a shocking hangover.Too many additives.

@bennybaubles: Adding pint after pint after pint will give anyone a shocking hangover.

        • +1

@bennybaubles: not the additives ….it’s such a great beer you drank too much of it ……thats what gave you the hangover .

  • They also had Heineken for $40 as well

  • Nice deal. Bought.

Incidentally, it was $50 for a case here in Brisbane.

    • Which beer? $50 regular price?

      • Kosciuszko Pale Ale 24 x 330ml for $50. I don't know the usual price, but I'd guess approx $80.

        • $60

      • you've included the NSW bottle tax.
QLD & VIC Kozzie is $50/slab

    All brewed in Australia folks!

    • i’d like,e to say savings aussie jobs , but it’s a very automated process so probabaly not creating more jobs …..

is it different to country of origin versions …..should be close to the same except for freshness … our water in melbourne is from dams so failry soft and neutral …..overseas water is often recycled so any edge on flavour is due to drinking recycled toilet flush.

I’d probably prefer the local version if they charged local prices. The problem is they still charge like a premium import.

        • brewing beer is actually a very industrialised process, they buy hops on spec and barley or wheat …..use the same water out of a pipe not some blessed mountain spring ..not sure why craft brewers charge more …..nothing special about the ingredients eg they grow them uniquely themselves and no one else has access to them ……

just comes down to how they reckon it should taste not the cost base …..

        • @garage sale: spoke to a couple of microbreweries… they use heaps more hops compared to the likes of xxxx and VB… hops have gone up in price and you can’t grow them on an industrial scale in Qld

As for jobs, microbreweries create more jobs per 1,000 litre of beer produced since they don’t have scale…which is why I believe some tax breaks are in the works for them

          https://www.theshout.com.au/news/industry-welcomes-tax-break…

        • @garage sale: Not quite with the smaller (independent craft) breweries. Their big cost is getting the brewery up and running, then not having the scale and purchase pricing power of the big end of town. And for the most part, they also use more expensive ingredients - Galaxy is a lot more expensive that your mass market hop pellets. Also, most of the smaller ones have a core offering, with ongoing experimentation to create various seasonal or other limited release range.

Craft brewing industrialised? Struggling with that one…

      • I like your argument on saving aussie jobs.

but the taste with jap radiation contaminated water taste better than the water from our dams.

Such a shame it's brewed in Aus, it's just not the same.

  • still far better water in Oz than the stuff brewed in Thailand and Vietnam.

    • yeah, i think maybe ours is fresher and that is why it tastes different, unless it is adjusted to suit local tastes eg more hops so bit more bitter, etc.

    • it was one day only.

  • ewww Kirin
