Fridge Noise - Beware Beko!

I stayed in an apartment on the weekend equipped with a Beko RDNE530K30W fridge. It ran with an extremely annoying high pitched whine that my companions and I found very difficult to tune out (or cover up).

I've been contemplating a new fridge at home and learned two things: a) Don't buy this one b) Ask to hear the fridge in the store before buying. Even with store background noise this one's high pitched whine would have been immediately obvious.

  • Have you tried to contact Beko or the seller for warranty as this can be a warranty issue?
    Btw, how old is it?

    • +1

      It's not the op's fridge.

    • I'll certainly let the owner of the apartment know that the fridge should be checked out for a fault.

  • It may just be an old or faulty appliance. How do you know all the fridges from that brand make that noise?

    • It was certainly not older than a couple of years. And I'm not saying all Beko fridges make that noise….that's why I included the model number. If it is a generic issue it could affect all of that model. I guess I am just trying to say beware. Before hearing that fridge, I'd never thought to listen before buying.

  • I bought a Beko about 4 years back and it has no probs with noise or anything else. One of the plastic drawers broke in the mounting track. I thought I would have to pay for that one. Not so. Beko sent me a new drawer from Bris (to Melb) and didn't want to see the old one. Hard to ask for better support.

  • I have a Fisher & Paykel fridge that is also a piece of shit, noisey AF and parts of the doors have fallen off it's just over 3 years old
