Good price, but any deal (~200 AUD) on Note 5?

  • What has b28, nfc, dual sim?

Moto G5s Plus, Nokia 7 Plus, Sharp Aquos S2

    • What's with the obsession with B28?

      • +2

gets coverage in some black spots as it’s lower frequency, also one of the bands used for aggregation, also spectrum bought by tpg for their network if you tap into their free, or cheaper data plans ….

      • It works better indoors all things being equal. Only one of the three large carriers does not use it.

  • How is the camera like? Similar to 4X?

    • +3

Bought one from Aliexpress, camera seems better than my old note 4. Screen is not sharp, only 1080p, i always use nover launcher. Bettery lasts for two days. You get more than you pay for.

thanks dude…got one to replace my existing 5 plus….with a broken screen….so sadface

  • Is this the international model?

Global version which is what you want

      • Awesome, ordered for my mother. Almost didn't, Ali refused my card that expires next month. Luckily had my wifes card details.

  • Is this realistically better than the Mi A1 if you're willing to put stock Android on it yourself?

    • +3

I would say kinda? The camera should be slightly better than Mi A1's camera at least (put the gcam apk to make it even better). Plus it's cheaper than Mi A1.

I've heard that the Mi A1 doesn't even get promised android updates (except security patches), and at least you can use custom ROMs to update the Redmi 5 Plus to 8.1.

Honestly it's better to wait for a good deal on the Redmi Note 5 Pro (or the Redmi Note 5 in some areas) witht eh Snapdragon 636 which is much better than both these two phones, and comes with Treble support (which is Android 8.1), compared to the other two phones which don't have treble support.

      • Thanks dude - appreciate the insightful reply

      • Would you know if the Nokia 6.1 2018 has treble support too, or only Anroid One without?

  • Which of the Redmi 5 Notes have B28?

  • Is this the same as redmi note 5?

    • +1

      no its not the same

      • Thanks for the clarification. GSM ARENA was unclear

  • ali express refund
    is horrendous.

No one's probably going to see this but the phone arrived yesterday, I'm blown away with how good this phone is for the price.

The UI is good and snappy, so far fantastic battery life (it's only dropped by 35% since last night) the screen size is damned impressive and it comes with a pre-installed anti-glare screen protector and a slim case.

The only negatives I can think are that it doesn't come with a headset, games drop a frame occasionally (but still very playable) and finally colours are a little washed out in both games and videos.
