Not sure how this should be titled, but if you bought NBA Playgrounds for Switch before the update that added online play, you can now pick up Shaq Fu for free until the 5th of July by the same Devs.
This was due to the initial update consistently being pushed back and was a kind offering on the part of the developers.

Found out about the game after the kickstarter ended so I couldn't buy a copy in advance.
Bought nba day one because damn I love me some nba jam style action, absolutely loved it until they patched it to remove unlimited running and steals, and ruined the shot metre and everything, the launch version was so much arcadey fun goodness and the update killed my love of the game unfortunately.
That being said it's still my most played switch game, and I never touched online anyway.
So when I found out this game I absolutely loved was going to give me a free copy of another game coming out in the future that I was 10/10 going to day one buy anyway, well, I was pretty darn happy.
I was pretty much word for word exactly the same as you. Played Shaq Fu today and while it's not the world's greatest game ever it is so damn fun and entertaining. The jokes are dumb as hell but that makes it all the better imo
