Please Recommend Me an Effective and Quality Car Window Sun Shade

Hello,

Could you please recommend me sun shade which is really effective to block sun and will last?
I bought one from Supercheap auto couple months ago and it was not staying on window and suction cups were always falling off.

I did some research and found Outlook or Chevron sunshades but don't know anybody who has them and could provide feedback whether they are good or not.
Thanks.

  • use your sun visors to hold it up, not the suction cups.

    .

  • I prefer to use the oversize type that are slightly larger than the windscreen, when expanded there is a spring tension between the base of the dash and the roofliner/window which holds them in place. There are may available online: https://www.ebay.com.au/p/Foldable-Jumbo-Large-Sun-Shade-SUV…

  • Assuming you're talking about windscreen shades? I use an external shade, like this one https://www.autobarn.com.au/sunland-exterior-silver-sunscree…

I find them way easier to roll on, and roll up, compared to dicking about with internal shades, and making them stay in place. I also find it more effective at blocking the heat, as the sun isn't hitting the glass directly.

If not windscreen, have a look at window Sox. You get two in a pack, so one for each side, and they're made to fit your model car door.

  • Sorry, I wasn't specific enough. I was talking about Window Sox type.

    Like these ones:

Basically I would like to have an opinion of anybody using these ones or other brands if they block sun effectively.

  • Reviving this thread…need sun shades for a 2023 Tiguan Allspace. Will the "window sock" type ones suffice or is shelling out $200 for a Snapshade custom sized set worth it?

    • I got some unbranded snapshades off ebay (from memory around 70 bucks for the rear pair) and they were great. Snapshades may claim to offer more protection etc but these did the job well in a car with privacy glass. They were magnetic so just locked in - but this may depend on your cars window frame some need some plastic clips attached. I'd highly recommend the snapshade style ones - very sturdy and can put the windows most of the way when driving.

in no way affiliated with the store, just a customer.

Great, thanks for that. I ended up ordering the Snapshade ones, wasn't that much more than the eBay ones.
